This idea came to me with the help of dailyachesandpains who, in response to my post about the things I miss while living overseas, sent me a CARE package filled with some yummies. I wanted to thank her by sending her some Polish chocolates and other treats. My only problem was finding a box to put everything in. But her box arrived so quickly that I was able to simply use the same box that she sent my CARE package in.
We joked about how this box had made a round trip from the U.S. to Poland and how she would probably reuse it to send to her soldier in Iraq, and eventually this box will have seen more of the world than either of us. We toyed with the idea of keeping the box going back and forth between us in perpetuity, sharing little, inexpensive doo-dads with each other for fun, or even sending it to different soulcasters, but we both discovered in a hurry that the cost of postage can far exceed the cost of said doo-dads. And that is how the idea of the “Little Box” was born.
I have a little box… much smaller than the one that Daily and I used. And I would like to launch this little box on a round-the-world trip to visit my fellow soulcasters. And, I would like the voyage of the Little Box to be documented here on soulcast so that we can all enjoy.
Here’s how it would work:
1) The holder of the Little Box (currently me) would find a small gift that will fit inside the Little Box. The gift can be something that is representative of the place where the holder is living, the place where the holder is from, or of the holder him or herself. Preferable, it should be something lightweight to keep postage costs reasonable.
2) The holder would post an invitation, both here and on their own blog (linking the two) to a soulcaster that they would like to send their gift to.
3) If the chosen recipient agrees, the two would make arrangements to secretly share contact information.
4) By agreeing to be a recipient of “The Little Box,” you are agreeing that you will:
a) Post a photo of the Little Box (without showing the mailing addresses or real names) and its contents both here and on your own blog, linking the two. This way, people can follow the voyage of the Little Box here as if reading a novel, and new interest can be generated by the new posts, so that new soulcasters will become aware of its existence, too.
b) Send the Little Box on its way by following steps 1-3 above.
I’m visualizing a westward trip… let’s see how many different places the Little Box can visit on its way around the world. And when it’s finished circumnavigating the globe, maybe we can send it back around in the other direction.
So, as the current holder of the Little Box (which, BTW, came in Daily’s original CARE package… Daily, can you guess what it is?), I hereby extend this formal invitation…
POLARHEART… would you like to be the first recipient of the Little Box?
