I was reading the local news papers, and there was an article regarding Flowers say a lot about you...........My favorite flowers are lilies and iris.
Iris:You tend to get bored quickly with day-to-day routines. In order to maintain your great vitality and creativity, you need to follow your inspiration wherever it may lead. You thrive and prosper in jobs and situations where you are your own boss.

Lily:You are a nurturing person. In fact, people are drawn to you. A few words from you can make people feel worlds better. It’s no wonder many say you would be a great therapist! However, you shouldn’t feel like you have to ease everyone’s troubles; your caring alone accomplishes more than you realize.

What are your favorite flowers and what do you think it says about you?

Kat, my favourite flower is St. Joseph's Lily - and I do like the meaning that you put.  Do you have the meaning of other flowers too?
  • Katana said on Mar 19, 2007....
CW and Polar this is all the flowers written on the article.
Tulip: You thrive on change. You are always dreaming up some way to improve yours and your family’s lives. But just as a tulip blooms in the same spot each year, deep down inside, you are often content with what you have.

Carnations:Tradition is very important to you. Your down-to-earth attitude and innate ability to keep confidences makes you one of the most loyal and trusted friends. As a result, you are always surrounded by loved ones who come to you for guidance.

Daisy:You notice things others miss. For example, the different shades of pink in the sky as the sun sets, the hint of sadness behind someone’s smile-which means you are a natural at drinking in all life has to offer.

Rose:You are the kind of woman that will bring the Prince Charming out in a man. You are also the kind of friend who gets called first with news-big or small. Despite your wide social circle and busy agenda, you have a secret need for alone time and you will sometimes even feel a little shy.

I love violets because they remind me of the beautiful deep dark woods with a stream flowing thru it and faireies dancing all around :^)

Violets are hard to find and grow at home, so for the last couple months I have made it a point to get a bouquet of regular flowers (daisies, carnations, and others) and put them on my kitchen table as a center peace. Flowers are beautiful and it makes me feel good when I look and smell them.

Well that's my mushy for the day :^)

    Happy Monday! :^P

HDG: I love having flowers in my home. Where I am at the moment, Caribbean people don't appreciate flowers that much; no one buys any to cheer themselves up or to give to their love one, so i have to wait till I return to the UK.
You are sure right the smell of flowers always makes me put a smile on my face.

My favourite flowers are the daffodils. Bright yellow spring colour. I despise the winter and love watching the daffs grow, shows me that Spring is on it's way.

misunderstood1162: African violets that was the very first plant I ever bought. It promotes spirituality and peaceful vibrations. Honeysuckle: Devoted love, generous and fidelity. I don't know too much about columbine can you tell me a bit about the flower? The honeysuckle reminds me of a lovely cottage garden with lots of herbs and lavender.

secretlife: I love sunflowers and I love growing them in my garden. A bit of info for you which you might already know. They got their common name because of turning their heads towards the sun. The seeds are packed with fats and Vitamin E very good for you.
Sunflowers meanings are warmth and adoration, sign of longevity.

    comfort:
I did a search on daffodils. The colors are Sunshine the beginning of spring. It is unrequited love, there's a sad story.
This flower is associated with vanity and death. The daffodil is in fact of the narcissus family, and is yellow in color. Legend has it that Narcissus saw his reflection in the water and fell in love with it, he leant forward and eventually fell into the water and drowned. At the spot where he had been kneeling, a daffodil sprang from the ground.

gingersoul: Your list fascinated me, cause you like tropical flowers orchids, hibiscus and bougainvilleas, which I'm surrounded by at this present moment.  On the entire island everyone has growing in such abundance the colors are beautiful.
I wish I could share the surroundings with you.

Hibiscus is a delicate beauty, here on the island there is amazing bright colors pink, red, yellow and there is a 'hybrid' an orange.
Orchids is a flower of magnificence,  we have so many types, many different colors. They grow well in a lot of light, we only have two seasons here dry which is 'summer' and wet 'the rainy' season. The orchid grows well because of the weather.
In my Mums garden, we have Bougainvillae hedges of purple and fusha color flowers that grow like walls which surrounds the house.
You can also grow the hibiscus like a hedge as well.

Kat.....oh, i am so envious of you now.....:-)....i always buy Asiatic lilies when i have friends coming over .....its seems like they welcome them as i would....

bounganvillea reminds me of my Italian gardens and the Tuscan villas where is very usual to use them for covering porches and gazebos. i like honeysucles too for the same reason and their smell is mesmerizing.....

i planted 4 big hibiscus trees in front of my previosu home in bright orange-red colors...as well as 10 rose bushes, each one of a different colors...

I would love to see your flowers....but in which beautifl island do you live?...:-)

  • Katana said on Mar 20, 2007....
gingersoul: I was born in Trinidad, but my family resides on both islands, Trinidad & Tobago. Now, I live in the UK; I'm only out here for a short while to be with my family.
I came home cause my Dad died.
You have a beautiful country........I'm the one whose jealous.
  • gingersoul said on Mar 20, 2007....

    Oh Kat... i am so sorry for your loss....it must be a hard time for you....{hugs}

But we should arrange a switch....i would give you my home in Italy for a while and i would go to live in yours....what you think? :-)

no, seriously......your country is ubeliavable beautiful...its Nature is gorgeous....now i understand why you agreed with my flowers choices....:-)

  • Katana said on Mar 21, 2007....
gingersoul: Thanks..........but I'm doing pretty well. I have all my family's support, my hubby and SC has helped a great deal.Oh Yes please!!........ Just name the date and time for the house switch; I'm very good at packing ...Quickly!! hehehehe
I would love to live in Italy, but my homeland in the Caribbean, my Mum always says hers doors are opened to anyone, and its the same here with me.  I welcome anyone..........its the weather that gets me down, and not being able to have flowers growing all year round; people are so different when it is spring and summer in the UK. The lifestyles in the Caribbean are much more relaxed.
