Well my daughter will be turning 9 soon.  We are planning a party for her that I think she will really enjoy.  It is kind of sad becaue she really wanted to go to Build-a-bear but that is just oo expensive, so we sat down and decided on a theme, which she is very happy with.

I ordered an ultimate birthday apckage online from birthdayexpress and it should be here Friday.  I love it because it includes everything we need except a cake and presents.  All the decorations, tableware, goodie bags, and even activities.  man that makes it easy for me.

Now I can focus on getting her some great birthday presents.  I just today won a gameboy advance sp on ebay.  Her best friend has one and left it here the last time she spent the night and my daughter has had a blast playing with it.

So now I am searching for a few games to go with it.  the auction I won included one game but I want to give her at least two more.  I know she will love this.  It's a good thing because the other presents are going to be clothes because she won't stop growing and she needs some new clothes that actually fit her.

I think she is going to have a blast.  We are spliting the kids into two groups and having each group create clues to a treasure hunt for the other group.  Then they get to go on the treasure hunt for their goodie bags.  I know it's simple but they sure have fun doing it.

We also have a pinata and a kit to make a cute cat purse.  I think I am almost as excited as her.  It's all aobut the details now, and getting the presents, which is of course the really fun part for me.

Anyways, I think it will be great and my daughter will have a blast.

That sounds like fun!  She's going to LOVE her gameboy!  You will be the BEST mom ever!

We're planning our daughter's b-day party too!  I'm in crisis mode over it though, lol.  I'll be feeling better about it when it's over.  I ordered Princess stuff from birthdaydirect.com.  It came in yesterday and she was SOOOO excited to see all the stuff!

I hope you guys have fun!

This sounds like it's going to be a great party.

I always did pinata's at the kid's parties and they LOVE them....

But the best things are those treasure hunts....my middle daughter is 13, and she and her friends STILL want treasure hunts at their birthday parties!

dailyachesandpains - We did the princess theme last year and boy did she love it.  I should get the stuff I ordered tomorrow, and she is already excited.  This year the theme she choose is The Cat.  It is really cute.  I am so excited about the gameboy.  I was even able to get it in blue whcih is her favorite color.  I just love spoiling her on her birthday.

secretlife - I think the pinata will be fun.  It is not one that you hit though, instead it has a bunch of curly ribbon coming out of the bottom and everyone gets to pull one of them out but only one will break open the pinata.  I have never had one like that before but that is what came in the party pack.  the treasure hunts are a blast.  We did one with our Girl Scout troop and all the girls loved it.  I thought it was a neat way to hand out the goodie bags.

yes, i've used those pinatas with the strings.  they work great and much better and safer for indoors!

do you have these places called Game Town or Game Stop?  they sell those games used and at decent prices....kids get tired of them and trade them and that's how you can pick them up at bargain prices.  i do that with my son and all his MANY video games!

Yea, we have a Game Stop right near our house.  My niece swears that they are the greatest store ever.  She did tellme to try going there to pick up a few games.  I don't care if a game is used, as long as it works.  I'm all for saving money where I can.

I'm glad to hear that the pinata worked great for you.  I was a little worried because I thought kids loved to hit the things, but I certainly like the idea of the pull strings.  I think it is right on for a bunch of 9 year old girls.

It sounds wonderful Cagney.  I'm sure that all the kids will have fun.
My daughter has been wanting to go to that build a bear, we have never gone. I didn't realize it was that expensive.  She will love the game boy,  way to go!

Cagney, I am eventually back to comment!!  I live in the UK but come from South Africa.  I have a friend that I met here who is also South African.  When I read your first paragraph I couldn't believe the co-incidence, because my friend has a daughter who is turning 9 this year and they are going to have a Build a Bear party!!  It must be something about 9 year old girls - hey?  But your party sure sounds like a treat and I'm positive that she will love it & her pressie!!

It is our little son's (I call him Tigger here at SC) birthday party tomorrow.  He is turning 3 years old.  We have booked a party at a soft play centre.  They also provide everything and all we have to do is bring the cake.  It is our first real party for him as he is now at the age of understanding. . .we are really looking forward to it and hope the weather holds (although it is inside), but it does make life a bit easier here for everybody in England.

mom - I think the kids will all have a blast too.  Build-a-bear is a great place but when you account for paying for all the guests to get a bear and at least one piece of clothing it gets expensive.  My daughter has been a couple of times, we took our girl scout troop there and she attended her cousins birthday there.

yani - I am excited, partly because she is so excited and I love to see her get that way.

polarheart - well thanks for coming back.  I thought it was nice that you commented just to say you would be back.  Yea I think Buid-a-bear is the great new thing for young girls.

Happy birthday to Tigger.  Those soft play center's are really great.  We have attended a party there and it was so much fun.  the great part is that the parents can really just sit back and enjoy.  I think he will love it.

I bought my party supplies from birthdaydirect.com they have the same party themes, but offer it cheaper with a free shipping offer. I love pull string pinata's, it's safer and kids from all ages can participate. All you do is put the candy and party favors in it and hang it either indoor or outdoor. Never had a birthday party without one.
