It wouldn't surprise me, really. I mean, if you think about all the people who have died in the OR let alone the hospital. And, with all the renovations that have happened over the years, the OR could have been many different departments in the 99 years its been in existence.
I was working late the other night, sitting at the front board where all the cases are listed, watching the rooms through the monitor. A co-worker sat next to me and we were planning out who was going to clean which rooms. I glanced over at the monitor and room 3 was on screen. No one was in the room but, just as I glanced over, a chair rolled across the room! I nudged my co-worker and asked "Did you just see that?" She said yes and we both jumped up and ran to room 3 to see how it could have happened. We investigated everything. Both doors to the room were closed, and we were the only ones in the department at the time. We shrugged it off and went back to work for the night, joking about our ghost.
I worked late last night and a similar thing happened. Room 11 was set up for a late vascular case. So I closed the doors to keep air from outside coming in. In the OR, we have positive air pressure in the rooms, meaning the air comes from the ceiling and pushes to the floor. Air pressure is higher in the room than in the hallway. If the doors are closed, you can feel the air coming out from underneath the door. Four of us were discussing the case about to happen and one mentioned how she just shut the door. I said, "I was there about 10 minutes ago and I shut door". Then the other two people also mention that they keep having to close the door whenever they walk by. The doors open up into the room, so positive air pressure would logically keep the doors closed or push them closed if open.
Honestly, I don't care if there is a ghost in the OR. I just hope they don't become violent! lol!
