In my younger years, I had the looks that could very well grace the cinema screens.   At least that's what some of my friends used to tease me.  Somebody then had asked me quite a very interesting question which now in turn I pose to you.

If someone wanted to finance and you were offered to star in your very own first Hollywood blockbuster major movie release with you as the main actor, what kind of role and story would you choose to play?

Romantic love story, intense personal conflict, tragic emotional relationships, intellectual detective twister, heart-pounding suspense, science fiction based thriller, hard-boiled James Bond style action, senseless mass massacres, or sizzling sex performance.  Take your pick and please try to give us a little bit of the plot and the key role with which you will be playing.

Personally, I'd go for a sleek science fiction based thriller combined with some futuristic hard boiled action sequences much like Tom Cruise Mission Impossible 3 to be jointly directed by a classic veteran and a newly soon to be noticed director.  Oh and if you've already written a little of your script, try to share with us a bit of it.  Now we're all watching!

So what will be your Hollywood blockbuster be like?

egads...do we have to be the main actor? i mean, i'd be happy w/ so many other aspects of the idea but i absolutely don't want to be in front of the camera!

Yep that's the main requirement, you are the star, the main man  who will make or break the box office potential of this movie.  Your charisma, your physical looks, your animal magnetism, your silver screen cinematic aura.

So what would be your preferred main starring role, Ed?

I'm gunna go the route of Documentary, if that's OK.  It will be a behind the scenes look at health and health care and who benefits most.  It will be shocking and informative and rivet the entire country ;- )  It will be so good that the FDA will try to take me down! lol!

i'll do something like Bridges of Madison County....tragic love-story deal...chick flick and tearjerker.....

I'd do a remake of Bringing Up Baby in a heartbeat. Since the leading lady would have to be a lot younger than me (that's Hollywood for you), I think that I'd offer the co-starring role to gingersoul. I suspect that her sense of humor would be perfect for the Hepburn role.
  • mobil said on Mar 10, 2007....
I'd like to co-star in that movie with SL, I've never seen the movie, but I
think SL would make an excellent leading lady and I like chick flicks too.
    thanks FD

Ninibud:  I figured you'd do well with a TV series like Grey's Anatomy.

SL, Mobil:  I think the perfect move for both of you would be something like a remake of Sleepless in Seattle.

LJ:  A romantic comedy love story with Gingersoul in the lead, why not?

I think I would like to do a re-make of a musical along the lines of Hello Dolly or Mame.  I would love to play a strong woman with a lot of heart and a lot of sass.  And of course, since we're dreaming, it would be a musical because I love to sing.
  • mom said on Mar 11, 2007....
Oh hell yeah, mine would be a horror movie.  "Attack of the Killer Moms".  Or maybe I would do a lusty movie, "Mom Beverly Hill Madam".
  • sidhe said on Mar 11, 2007....
The story of Boudicca done as a full on, high budget flick with battles of scope!

And of course, I'd play Boudicca.   Being already fiery Irish, fiery Welsh isn't such a stretch. :D
  • mom said on Mar 11, 2007....
Sidhe- gee you are Irish also?  Me too. :)  I don't have red hair, blonde hair and that is only cause it comes from a box otherwise I am gray :/
  • silverwhisper said on Mar 12, 2007....
FD: um...jeez, i'd like to say some kind of suspense/drama thing. i'm not really a leading man.

Mom, truly we are sisters beneath our skin.  My hair was red when I was born but betrayed me by going pale blond shortly thereafter.

And yes, Irish is what I am.  Fighting Irish some days. :D
  • mom said on Mar 12, 2007....
I have never had red hair :)  Well one time I dyed it a pretty strawberry blond to piss my husband off, everyone liked it but him.

Sometimes you have to be a fighting Irishwoman to stay alive.  You have my support.
  • sidhe said on Mar 12, 2007....
Heh.. One time I died my hair fire engine red and my last husband came home and didn't even notice for 4 hours until a friend of ours said "Hey I like your hair color" and he started like he'd been shot when he turned and really looked at me.  :D
  • mom said on Mar 12, 2007....
LOL, that is too funny. Did he like it?  Why did you do it?
  • sidhe said on Mar 12, 2007....
He didn't like it.  Of course, he didn't like me much anyway.  I however LOVE red hair.  It just doesn't love me.  :(  It fades to fast and I'm lazy.  And when it grows out I look like a red skunk with a white blond streak down the center.

LOL, well screw him.  That is funny.
  • FaithfulDisciple said on Mar 13, 2007....
Sidhe, Mom:  It would be a refreshing change to see two great actors of Irish descent to grace the silver screen with some outstanding story lines.  Do you know of any popular Irish movie stars currently doing well in the box office?
  • sidhe said on Mar 13, 2007....
    Liam Neeson would be one.
  • lioneljay said on Mar 13, 2007....
Seems to me that Pierce Brosnan is Irish too.
  • MissMimi said on Mar 13, 2007....
Colin Firth, if I've got the right name with the right face, is also Irish.
  • Cagney said on Mar 13, 2007....
That is a tough one to answer because I would love to do so many different types of movies.  The one thing they would all have in common is that the main character (me) would have to be an intelligent, independant, strong woman who could kick ass but still go through a box of tissue while watching a sappy love story.
  • mom said on Mar 13, 2007....
Oh another one is Darby O'gill.  He was Irish.
  • momsrock said on Mar 24, 2007....
Sorry I'm late to this. I didn't see it until Ed linked it on another post. I would want to do a romantic comedy with Hugh Grant...lots and lots of hugh grant. :)  His latest movie with Drew Barrymore is actually very fitting...she's a little odd/goofy like me! LOL

I would stage my unpublished novel, Beginnings, a Young Adult Christian
Military Science Fiction Romance.  Set in the twenty-seventh century, it
is a mixture of space opera and soap opera.  Since the primary character is female, I would have to be one of the secondary characters.
