Elsewhere today, a friend of mine was poking fun at me for how many pairs of shoes I own. I admitted to having a small shoe addiction, but he was marveling at how such subjective words could be "stretched" since he thinks my addiction is not really all that small.

So, a poll. How many shoes do you own and what kinds of shoes are they?

Come on, don't be shy, make a list of them (even if it's off the top of your head). I'll share my list later.

    Had about 18 pair, then we moved and I lost some of them.  Then Lucy took my silver pumps.  Sorry, Lucy, just will not let this one go.....{giggles affectionatley}

I actually don't have a lot of shoes. I have 1 brown pair, 1 black pair, 1 pair of sneakers but about 15 pairs of flip flops that survived last year and spring is coming so I can buy a whole new collection! I have all different colors, some with high heels and some regular flat ones. I am obsessed with them.... I don't like regular shoes. I buy the bare minumum for those...just what I need to get buy.
  • queenparanoia said on Mar 05, 2007....

I have about 20 something pairs of shoes. It's pretty much a mix; some tennis shoes, some high heels, some sandals, some different colored flip-flops (actually, about seven), a pair of boots (I had to throw out my other pair : ( ), and other cute pairs.

  • Comfort said on Mar 06, 2007....
I don't really wear shoes. I do have three pairs of high shoes though. Two pairs of Doc Martin boots, three pairs of knee length boots, one pair of trainers and one pair of New Rock boots (which are my pride and joy).
  • silverwhisper said on Mar 06, 2007....
let's see...i own 1 pair of dress shoes (black), 1 pair of loafers (black), 1 pair of moccasins (dark brown), i think i still own a pair of sneakers, and one pair of casual things that are suede and keep forgetting to throw out. o right, one pair of duck shoes, almost forgot. w/ the wind chills we're expecting today, i'll be needing those!

I have such a Cinderella complex when it comes to shoes!

I have 32 pair in my bedroom and I think 5 or 6 pair in my hall closet.  Plus, I'm sure I have a few more in my car (just in case!).  I have multiple colors and prints...flip flops, heels, slings, motorcylce boots, knee high boots, low tops, tennis shoes, slippers, sandals, flats, slides, stilettos...you name it, I have it!

    I love shoes!
  • czarxtian said on Mar 06, 2007....
Shoes are woman's thing right? But being a guy doesn't mean I don't care about shoes. Choosing something comfortable for my feet is something I don't take for granted. I have 4 skate shoe(skateboarding), they are very comfortable. 2 sneaks, 2 slippers and 2 leathers made here in the Philippines. The best leather shoes are from the Philippines...:D
  • AliCat said on Mar 06, 2007....
56...mostly heels and platforms...about 12 pairs of boots...and 8 pairs of cute tennis shoes, 10 pairs of flip flops...thats all! I love shoes...i have 4 pairs of red heels that are my favorite....3 pairs of leopard heels that I love too! I am a shoe collector.
  • Zayda said on Mar 06, 2007....
LJ--Let me guess as far as the 2 of each color go, one pair is dressier than the other and one is more casual? I love cordovan as a color. So rich.

Wombat--How did you lose shoes when moving? Did the movers eat them? Ohhh..Lucy has your silver heels?

Momsrock--Well, I suppose technically flip-flops count as shoes since you are wearing them on your feet. :P I don't do the flip-flops with heels; I just don't like them that way. I have several pair of flat flip flops that I wear in the summer when I'm not working. My favorite pair is a black pair with cherries on them.

QP--You know I never really think about shoes when it comes to weight loss. The only time I ever thought about it was when my feet swelled when I was pregnant. But they would be back to normal (not swollen) in the mornings, so it didn't really occur to me that weight would affect shoe shopping.

    it's zapatos with a Z
  • Zayda said on Mar 06, 2007....
Petite--That sounds like the beginnings of a good collection of shoes. :D

Lioness--Ahh, a good basic collection of everything you need. :)

Comfort--So you mainly wear boots or do you prefer to go shoeless? I have a student who doesn't like to wear shoes, even when it's freezing out. He instead wears leather thongs. He had to resort to shoes when we got a foot of snow several weeks ago though.

Rockerchic--Ahhh...a woman after my own heart. I have a small addiction to shoes, so I guess I have a Cinderella complex too.

Silver--Those suede things you keep forgetting to throw out don't happen to be house-shoes do they? I love driving moccasins, btw; they are so darn comfortable.

    "house shoes"?

    ed
  • Zayda said on Mar 06, 2007....
Yes, in Spanish it is zapatos. In Portuguese, however, it's sapatos with an S.

Wiki page on shoes in Portuguese; in Spanish, and then in English.
  • Zayda said on Mar 06, 2007....
"house shoes" is another term used to refer to slippers, silver.
  • bloc said on Mar 06, 2007....
    oh, I didn't think about portuguese :)
  • Comfort said on Mar 06, 2007....
Zayda - Yep, always wear boots.
  • silverwhisper said on Mar 06, 2007....
ah. no, they aren't slippers. i don't believe in slippers. :>

  • Zayda said on Mar 06, 2007....
Silver--You don't believe in slippers? Interesting, I don't really either, although my parents seem to insist on giving me a pair every year for Christmas.
  • silverwhisper said on Mar 06, 2007....
no, i don't. i've always found them irritating. if my feet are cold that's what socks are for, gorram it! :> one would think your folks would get the hint, no? ah, well.

  • lioneljay said on Mar 06, 2007....
Z, as it happens, one pair in each color is slip-ons and the other pair is laced. Only the black lace-up shoes are relatively formal. My boss isn't fond of dress codes.
  • lioneljay said on Mar 06, 2007....
Hmmm...what to do with a double post in a thread about shoes. Hmmm.....next question: does everyone have belts to match all their shoes, i.e., so that your leather matches?
  • wombat said on Mar 06, 2007....
Zayda:  Don't know how my shoes got lost.  I have been through every box and every nook and cranny.  Had to buy new shoes for a wedding.  It's just a running joke about Lucy having my shoes after she mentioned silver pumps in a blog.  I had a nice pair that are among the missing.  I still think my hubby threw them away because he always griped about how many pair I had.

  • sweetsoul said on Mar 08, 2007....

Seems to me once before I refused to reveal how many pairs of shoes I have. :)Let's just say I hold the max of what's been listed so far.

What kind do I have? All sorts of colours...the regular black and various shades of brown, but also blue (from light to navy), green (again light to dark), orange, yellow, red, cream, white, gold, bronze...what colour have I missed other than purple (never purple! ah a few florals as well.

Various styles...I love strappy summer heels...also mules (shoes with no backs). flats to 2 1/2" heels...summer sandals...loafer types.

The exceptions are my hiking boots, running shoes, rain shoes.

Yes I love shoes...can't wait for the warmer weather so I can start weating my strappy heels again.

Z  I'm closer (but not quite) at twice what you stopped.

I did a wall of floor to ceiling furniture in my bedroom 1 1/2 pieces of furniture is just for my shoes. I know it sounds decadent but it keeps them in better shape and I can see them all easily so I wear them more. That's my limit though. When it's full, to buy a new pair I need to get rid of another.

Nice selection...we have some similarities in taste but not much.

  • Zayda said on Mar 08, 2007....
Sweetsoul--Mind you those are only off the top of my head. I have more than that.

Mine are all kept in a set of stacking plastic Rubbermaid drawers that have clear fronts so I can see what is in each of them.

I would love to have furniture for mine. :D

LoL--Wombie, my husband doesn't complain about the shoes. I keep them, for the most part, all neatly put away in their little plastic storage drawers.
