One thing I love to do is sit back and watch old movies. Now I just don’t mean black and white. I mean anything that would be considered classic. I remember growing up there were a ton of movies I couldn’t watch, because they didn’t exactly promote strong Christian views. It’s funny because a lot of the movies I am just now seeing don’t really seem to have anything all that offensive about them. I just watched “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and it was hilarious. I watched Good Morning Vietnam and it was great (though I love anything with Robin Williams in it.) I also finally watched “When Harry met Sally” and I loved it.
Time is one of the factors that make watching movies so enjoyable for me. I can see clearly how much things have changed. (Especially, with the black and white movies that I love.) It’s funny, because now looking back I can see where the original ideas for many concepts were formed. I can see that Jessica Simpson is more or less like a modern day Farrah and Justin Timberlake is pretty darn close to a modern day Elvis. So some things haven’t really changed over time. My question is now that I know this, how will I make myself and my music come across as something different from the run of the mill? What is my essence, persona, whatever? (To be continued…)
