If you could have watched only 5 movies in your entire life, what would they be and why?
(If you can't think of 5, then 4 or 3 or 2 or 1...)
My answers:
1) Dead Poets Society (Robin Williams) - this movie, along with my real-life English teacher, was the driving force behind my decision to be a teacher, and I've never regretted it since.
2) Remember the Titans (Denzel Washington) - a very moving and powerful true-to-life story...drives home the point that if we could only see past our differences and work harmoniously together, then we can really achieve great things. This movie, along with #1, can still bring tears to my eyes no matter how many times I watch it.
3) Schindler's List (Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley) - shows the depths of man's cruelty but also shows his bravery and courage. Also shows that heroes are not perfect people, but imperfect ones who just decide to do the right thing at a given moment in time.
4) Gandhi (Ben Kingsley) - shows the inspiring life of a truly extraordinary man.
5) Life is Beautiful (Roberto Benigni) - Everyone deserves a good laugh and a good cry in one sitting. It's one of the few movies that manages to pull off having an ending that's sad and happy both at the same time.
