I love reading about all of the SoulCasters here. I am not so busy with work these past few days that is why I am able to comment more. I love spending time here, my officemate is dumbfounded whenever she hears me guffawing infront of the computer :)

I love reading and I love commenting. But I think I'll be happier if I'll be able to post more. There are so many things to say, there are so many things to share, and right now I have a lot of time at hand. So what's stopping me from posting?

I feel like I am somewhat limited with the use of the English language.

There are things which I want to express but find it difficult to look for the word, and it is so frustrating. In commenting, there are things that I want to share but finds it difficult to put those thoughts into words. It is so frustrating. I sometimes even have the feeling that I somehow said the wrong things, that is why I refrain from saying a lot while commenting.

Just the other day, I used the word stupid when it wasn't what I meant. Oh gosh!

Am I the only one who feels this way?

No, english is my first language and even I find it difficult... just ask anyone! really they'll tell you I have a limited vocabulary... say that three times fast...

Yani, your voice is clear, you don't seem to have a problem expressing yourself at all... goodness me, do you understand ginger when she writes fast>? (yes I can tell ginger) I bet you do because its the idea that is being put forward...

I think you'd be fine, everyone would understand so don't get nervous we all want to hear you anyway..... tell us a bedtime story?????? pretty please.....

Oh I just asked a question on another post too... hope you got it!??
  • husbandhater said on Mar 02, 2007....
Yani I get the feeling you are from the philipines am I right? Anyway its o.k. I always go back and correct a thought that doesn't come out complete. Maybe you could try that! Try once or twice in your native tongue and direct it towards Queen Paronoia I think she is also from the philipines and may be able to assist you. Either way your voice has to be heard so let it out Yani it's o.k. we won't laugh or shreik away! We're here to listen
  • husbandhater said on Mar 02, 2007....
Yani how did I know you were Phili's finest? I recognized the language although I can't read it( saw your post Panawagan), I hear it at work all the time. Wow talk about starting to rub off, but anyway Talk to Queen or dazed and see if they can make suggestions that are suitable to you. They are eloquently spoken indidviduals and I don't think we have a problem with understanding their thoughts nor yours for the matter. Give it a try it couldn't hurt!
  • queenparanoia said on Mar 02, 2007....

husbandhater: hahahahaha you think i'm eloquent??? i'm sorry but my english is also bad sometimes. i'm still on college and i just based my english on american movies and television. and on books too.

yani: dear i also feel the same. minsan andami kung gusto sabihin kahit tagalog nga nahihirapan ako gusto ko nang mag illonggo!!! read some books and watch english movies or television it could help you a lot!!!

  • MissMimi said on Mar 02, 2007....
Yani, I have never had a problem understanding what you were trying to say. There are bloggers here for whom English is their first language, who make very little sense. ;)

Just keep blogging! I always love to read what you post and what you comment!
  • gingersoul said on Mar 02, 2007....

Lucy.....og relaly? uyo can say wjhat i speaj fast??????

Translation: oh, really? You can say when i speak fast???????

Wait to HEAR me speaking fast in English and you will be really scared....

Sorry if sometimes i dont make sense or my sentences are not perfectly built and i migth mix up past and present action verbs....i am aware of my limitations. Anyway here in SC my mistakes are due to the fact of not having much time in correcting my post or comments......

i can always smack you on your head with a good heavy T or a ponderous Q, Lucy.....:-)

Yani...for me, you are fine. I dont detect any huge mistakes, i always understand how you describe your emotions or situations. But i can't agree more with you with that tracksiding feeling that we are perceived by English mother language individuals as slightly off ...offbeat, off mark, off definition, heck..even off jokes...

Sometimes it makes me feel even stupid. Specially in a enviroment in which i have to communicate verbally and  accurately and efficiently. This is the main reason why i have never accepted to work in jobs that requires strong phone skills. Specially knowing how eloquent and articulate i am in my language. I made a living with talking and writing in my country since i have been a journalist for many years. So i gave you an idea.... :-)

On the other side, i have been working last summer with a South Korean company specialzed in offering test in English for business people in need to learn English. Me, an Italian? lol.....Well, there were 7 level of difficulties in building the questions and the related answers.... We translators had been selected based on our proficiency in written English. I have been, ase they told me one of the few who started at level 6. And worked thru level 7 in few weeks

So i feel confident about my English. I can manage it.....

    You too, Yani...

Kjep up woth teh god work..Translation: keep up with the good work..lol..

    Ginger, I think your English writing skills are excellent. And if I may say... when I read your posts and comments, I can almost picture you speaking the words--you write with an Italian accent. I think it's very charming. I hope you know I mean that as a compliment. {{{hug}}}
  • kruuyai said on Mar 02, 2007....
    Yani... your English is better than that of some native speakers!  Just go ahead and blog, girl.  We're all waiting to hear what you have to say!  {{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}
  • gingersoul said on Mar 02, 2007....

Mimi.......thank you, girl.....and no, i am not offended at all.....lol...

I think you are talking about the way i use to form my sentences??

I can see that.......i do it while speaking as well.....its very hard to break the habit...

    I am glad you have no problem in understanding me and you like my accent......LOL...{{hug}}

Yani, I love reading your posts. Just write with your heart and you can't go wrong
  • secretlife said on Mar 02, 2007....
yes mimi, and i hope when you picture ginger speaking you see her hands moving, because no matter what she says, you just KNOW she talks with her hands!

yani:  I have no idea how difficult and frustrating it must be to write in other than your native language.  But i should say that i never had a hard time understanding anything you say.....

well except for that sex stuff you typed on my last post.....you said it's kinkier in your language!  i'll take your word on that one!
  • husbandhater said on Mar 02, 2007....
Yani Like I said we can still get what your saying so blog your heart  out b/c we'd miss you here if you didn't! lmao at Queen! American Movies and television. I think American kids should start paying attention if you got that much out of it!
  • gingersoul said on Mar 02, 2007....

Secret....you little stinker...lol...you know that actually i am NOT using my hands that much while talking? ...lol......Bet you have seen Diane Keaton in some movies....well...THAT is using hands while talking for me .....and i am not remotely close to her...lol..

Oh, this Yankee frigid composure can be annoying sometimes ....but one day an ex boss of mine called me for the usual 6 weeks evaluation..after having been there for more than one year.... and while talking about some issues she told me "...And you are so hard to read".

I couldn't be more surprised....me? I always thought  i was the opposite because of my higher volume of facial expressions...Go figure.... I find most Americans so obsessed with what is politically correct to botoxing their expressions in social contests.......it can be very frustrating sometimes.....

you guys are hard to read...:-0

Wonder why my best friend here is an Irish descendent? ...lol....

  • botoni said on Mar 02, 2007....
Yani.....dont you be leaving us now!  We need you! And we adore you!

I know the problem of speaking English as a second language.  Babble is my first language and I revert to it often.

If you have an 'accent' when you write it just adds to your charm and character.  Write who you are as you are and let us all enjoy.

Und you yust vait undil i stard yakking in Svedish.

Ginger.............go for it.  Swing your hands all you can......we ll just think you re French-Canadian.  Tie their hands and they lose their ability to speak!  (Oooops....thats me too.)
  • gingersoul said on Mar 02, 2007....

Botoni.......LOL.....you cracked me up..... i am so happy somebody is in swinging hands mode like me......

And you can yak in Swedish too.....now that is impressive!

You know what?  People already mistakes me for French most of the time...moi?......French-Canadian is not bad at all..........lol.....

  • botoni said on Mar 02, 2007....
Ginger.............Note from  a fag......French-Canadian women are THE BEST dressed women in the world.................they have an unbelievable inate sense of fashion.  So you re in good company.
  • gingersoul said on Mar 02, 2007....

Bot...i knew there was a deeper connection there......

Even though i have to correct you...Italians are the best dressed women in the world....

*dont you dare to disagree or one of my swinging hands might swing you on the nose*...lol....

yani- The English language is probably the largest, richest, and most screwed up language on earth. I've been speaking it all my life and am still learning how to express myself.

I hope  it doesn't keep you from posting, because we will figure it out, just like we do for everyone else on this site, including the English speakers.
  • Bronx said on Mar 02, 2007....
    This is very interesting!

yani: no need to feel alone here in SC in terms of expressing yourself.

I am unabashed whenever I have to ask 'Comment dit on Francais?' It's not my mothertongue, so I have to ask or don't blame me for 'butchering' the language!

BTW, this post is very well written! You're doing very well. Cheers.
  • RabidBoi said on Mar 02, 2007....
I myself just recently got into the swing here at SoulCast and It has made working more enjoyable. I am free to say what ever I want and not care. Just look at my posts!!! You'd see. Don't hold back ANYTHING, that what this place is all about. Freedom. Compleat freedom to say what ever we want. Thats why I love it here!

Don't worry about saying the wrong thing, it's only wrong to those who disagree :)
  • Lioness said on Mar 02, 2007....
Yani, I see no problem. Your posts are well written and easily understood.

As far as I am concerned, I am not very particular with grammar usage (while reading other's posts), as long as they could convey their meanings, it's fine with me.

    Keep blogging sister!

Yani- Gee you are like one of those people that always says something on my blogs.  I never have a hard time understanding you.  I think you write maganda :) I love reading what you say, you have a wonderful sense of humor and you are sensitive, caring and very smart.  I would only want you to be yourself, write and don't be afraid.  The more you write the better and more comfortable you will feel about sharing your feelings.  You are also the one that tells me that silence is golden.  Now don't you be silent
  • skald said on Mar 02, 2007....

    Yani,
Say anything!  It has to be hard though, I would never know unless I went to a place where I don't speak the native language.  I think babelfish.com is where my Niece goes if she's uncertain of a word.

Don't worry about it!  I can hear Ginger talking with an accent when I read her posts and I LOVE it!  LOL!

SL, I always picture Sophia Loren when I think of ginger. I think sophia Loren is absolutely gorgeous. And I speak with my hands too.   One time I gestured very broadly and I accidentally punched B in the nose.  Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it... :D
  • yani said on Mar 02, 2007....

    You guys! I am so touched!  {{ wiping tears of happiness from eyes }}

Just to be clear, I was not thinking of quitting :)  This post is somewhat done as an excuse for all the wrong things that I might have said before and all those wrong choice of words that I might still make. I though of posting this so that if ever you'll find me or my comments difficult to understand, you'll simply say it's because I don't really know how to speak english well hahahaha

I will take all your words to heart, I will keep on blogging.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! muah!

ginger & botoni:  I too speak with my hands and it's driving my hubby crazy :) he always has to dug ( duck??? whatever! ) especially when I am excited hehehehe

mom, another word is masarap = delicious, i know you'll simply love this word. I'm sure you're one of those people who gets to used it many times ( think sex) jejejejeje :)

  • momsrock said on Mar 04, 2007....
Yani, I actually kind of like stuff like that. I love reading some of the comments because I can imagine you saying it or ginger saying it with her italian accent and things like that. It just adds a little variety... and english is my first language and I don't know how to use it so it might hurt my self esteem if everyone else was better at it and it was their second language! LOL just kidding.
  • gingersoul said on Mar 04, 2007....

    Ok, girls.....Sophia is back!!!.....LOL...

Mimi, Daily and Moms.....i never ever thaught it would be possible hearing my accent reading my stuff....

Now i feel a little self conscious.....like..... i will never post in anonymous mode anymore because you could say '"Haha,  ginger, its you, we got you"....lol....

but.....since i DID comment in anonymous mode @ Moon's post i guessed i have been really good....did you spot me there?...LOL....

    Question: what makes you HEARING my accent? I mean..its the way i compose my sentences, my use of the verbs, my spelling mistakes or what? Really curious now...it would help in improving my written English..so thank you for any comment.....{hugs}

Yani....lol...yes, my ex was ducking as well.....imagine me talking to him while cooking with a knife in my hand......it spelled DANGER....lol.....
