return to ancient home
a sea maiden with flowing hair
watches a lost love's crippled ship
get tossed in a terrible storm.
sails rip off from broken masts
and float away with the wind.
but she fights the churning waves
with gentle lightning in her eyes.
clutching at life through ebb and flow
she brings herself to harbor safe
and a child to her ancient home.
barefoot and gracile on the sand
she taps into the sea gods' strength
rebuilds her boat and refits her rig
sets her sails with libeccio winds
to grow new hope and find her love
in the sunbathed tyrrhenian sky.
