  I'm confused about the whole thing. I heard that the vast majority of gays were not interested in marriage, but never got tv time to tell their side. That the media only picked up on the few who did want it in order to rile the American people more.
   
  I heard they were for civil unions. Do you know what the truth is?

  I don't mind civil unions but I am not as comfortable with calling it a marriage. If they are getting the same respect as the original word What is the problem? They can have children together, own property,and get health insurance together same as me and my hubby. They can even tell the relatives to kiss off when the partner is dying so what is the problem and why does it have to be such a technical issue over the wording? Why can't they give a gentle nudge instead of forcing others to except a issue that is not racial but sexual in nature ed

  HH, are you familiar w/ the history of anti-miscegenation laws? there used to be laws on the books preventing someone who looked like me from marrying someone who looked like queen latifah. that history is why people on my side of the issue see this as a civil rights matter.

  This homosexual SYit has nothing to do with civil rights. There ia a very vast difference in what Black people went through because of somethng they couldn't control, and that is the color of their skins! Black people can't help being Black as this is how they were born and have no way of changing their race or ethnicity. A person who choses to have someone of  the same sex as their "lover"  (UGH---spit, spit, spit--nasty, nasy, nasty!) or partner or to choosing as his/her preference someone of the same sex, is a different thing altogether as that person has made a choice that a Black person cannot make. Now, I know that Michael Jackson did something to make his skin color much lighter, but he STILL is Black, colored, Negro, whatever and there is nothing that can be done about that at all. That's the difference!!!! Stop all the BS about people being born homosexual. BS!!! If that's your preference, just leave it at that, and stop making excuses for being what is it is that you prefer to be, and that is, a HOMOSEXUAL BY CHOICE! Give us a break! It's your life and you can live it just as you chose to do, and that is, as a homosexual!
