Do you prefer the original CSI, CSI: Miami, or CSI: New York?

I prefer CSI: Miami.  I like the coolness and angst of the character, Horatio. The soft spoken blonde investigator (her name escapes me at the moment) is a lot like me in demeanor.  She's nice but firm, just like me.  People have told me they think of me when they watch.  I look nothing like her though. Perhaps that's why I gravitate toward this CSI series.

Which one is your favorite?

    CW.......definetely CSI Miami...that Horatio is a cool cucumber..lol...

I recall once you said you look like Barefoot Contessa....am i correct? But you have Spector (i think its her last name but dont quote me on this...) attitude?

Good, because i like her....soft spoken yet firm.....

CSI NY annoyed me at the first episode...there is no chemistry between the characters .....i dont watch it anymore....

Beside in Italy everybody is crazy for Horatio and all my friends keep asking me about the last episodes twist........lol...

I agree...Miami...I just recently started watching it when I noticed that one of the guys looked like my hot doc!! His name has slipped my mind but he has brown hair and used to be a dork but he's not anymore. Do you know who I am talking about?

I've started watching some of the CSI shows now that they're showing up in syndication. The first that caught my eye was the one set in Vegas - I definitely like the character of Gil Grissom. But then I found the Miami series and started watching those episodes when I happened to catch them. The blonde investigator (who started out on the original show, set in Vegas) is played by Emily Procter. I really liked her  in the role of Ainsley Hayes on The West Wing. Now in Miami, her character is called Calleigh Duquesne.

A quick look at his profile in imdb.com, tells me that CSI: Miami is the fourth cop show that David Caruso (Horatio) has played in. Of them, I guess he is best known for his role in NYPD Blue.

I prefer CSI Miami since there is usually a plot line that only partially lets in water and it has far less of the ridiculous  pseudo-forensics that is evident in the others.

I have liked the overlap episodes between the various incarnations.
  • CreativeWoman said on Feb 15, 2007....
    ginger,
Yes, I look more like the Barefoot Contessa with the attitude of the blonde investigator. I'm quite the combination.  lol

I like how the character, Horatio, is just a real man.  He never waivers on what he believes is the right thing.

    moms,
I think I can place him.  No wonder you have the hots for your doc! :-)

    lionel,
Thanks for filling in the blanks for me. I also like Gil Grissom, but I don't watch that CSI nearly as often.

Interestingly, I didn't care for David Caruso in NYPD Blue.  I love him in CSI Miami.  I'm sure it's the difference in the characters he has portrayed.

    Alyss,
It seems to hold my interest a lot better than some programs do.  :-)

CW.....i agree, he is just perfect for Horatio.....in NYPD he didnt really stand up....

    uhmm...so you are a mix between a great cook and a great FBI agent.....what a combination, lady...lol...

LJ........yes.....i meant to say Procter and i said Spector.....Freudian slip, i  guess....:-)

Moms...are you kidding?? your Doc Hottie looks like him?

Ouch, i have an acute pain in my heart.....hurry.......call him....LOL....

  • queenparanoia said on Feb 15, 2007....

csi miami horatio has a heart for the victims. i cried when one of his men died. i forgot what's his name.

anyway i love the bullet girl too!!!! she is so cool!!! she could tell what kind of gun by the bullet or the sound of the gun!!!

by the way i have the biggest crush on horatio!! he is so hot!!!!

I simply LOVE the original.  I love Grissom and the others, I think the cast has such chemistry with each other and works well with and off of each other.

I must have been in a parallel universe last night. I thought I had answered this already.
I watch CSI Miami on A&E. The other ones are fine too, but I always go with my hormones. I'm mildly in lust with David Caruso.
  • lioneljay said on Feb 15, 2007....
Mimi, I've been in more-than-mild lust with Emily Procter since she first appeared on The West Wing. I found out from a running magazine that she is a dedicated runner and has done at least a couple of marathons.
  • MissMimi said on Feb 15, 2007....
LJ, I loved her on West Wing too.  She was a very subtle smartass.  I like that very much.
  • Jenna said on Feb 15, 2007....
I am not a big tv watcher CW.  But on any given night, you can find a CSI show on....new or in reruns....when I can't get to sleep I can usually find one on.  I have to say..I like them all.  I do enjoy Miami a lot....there is something about David Caruso....Horatio.....(Did you ever see Officer and a Gentleman?  He played such a wimp in that movie...remember him?)  I wonder which city will have the next spin off????
  • momsrock said on Feb 15, 2007....
GS, the doc is taller...but they have a lot of similarities... Greg in CSI in las vegas reminds me of him too...but not like the guy in Miami! The man is beautiful! :)
  • minniemouse said on Feb 15, 2007....
CW- I love CSI Miami too!  My husband thinks I am nuts...says its campy....it is, but that is why I love it.  Each week, I cannot miss the opening, the beautiful water, palms trees and beaches...a dead body (lol) and Horatio's sideways stance, and his "catch phrase" while putting on his sunglasses....I love it!!  And the blonde girls' name is Callie Ducane....I love her too!  CSI Las Vegas is a favorite too....watching it right now....but the New York one....there's just no connection to the characters...they are empty.
  • yani said on Feb 15, 2007....
I am a CSI Original fanatics :)  I seldom watch the other two, after Grissom, they just don't hit the nail just as hard, me thinks  :) I love his fascination with bugs.

I also love the strip teaser turned investigator, she's hot! She also is very firm when the situation calls for it.
  • Zayda said on Feb 15, 2007....
Of the three CSIs, actually really like CSI New York the best.  I do think there is a connection among the characters, especially the characters played by Anna Belknap (Lindsay Monroe) [who is on maternity leave right now] and played by Carmine Giovinazzo (Danny Messer).  I also think there is a spark between Stella Bonasera (played by Melina Kanakaredes) and Mack (played by Gary Sinese).

Gary Sinese has been one of my favorite actors for some time.  And I really loved Melina Kanakaredes when she was on N.Y.P.D Blue and on Providence.

I think the spark is better this season than there were in the past seasons, though.

My second favorite is CSI Miami.

I think David Caruso is fabulous as Horatio; I love that his fallible and human, which I think brings depth to the character.

Emily Proctor is fabulous and I loved her on West Wing when she played Ainsley Hayes, as LJ noted.  She was wonderful in that role.

I've lost interest in the original CSI over the years; for some reason, it lacks the spark for me that it did it's first few seasons.  Although Marg Helgenberger has always been one of my favorites.

  • tracie said on Feb 15, 2007....
I love csi I was watching it today you can learn alot from this show. that why I am in school now to learn about the human body and I think the older guy is the sexy on to me.
  • CreativeWoman said on Feb 15, 2007....
    ginger,
I have always had a fascination with forensic science.  I'm a court t.v. junkie.  A very long time ago before I was married I did background investigations at a power plant.  I'm pretty good at digging up things and the cooking too.  lol

    queen,
It's fun that so many of us like the same CSI series.  :-)

    rmux,
I just never got into the original so much.  I really don't know why.  It's a good show.

    Mimi,
A&E is where I watch too.

    lionel,
I lost touch with West Wing.  I think I watched the first couple of seasons.

    Jenna,
They can come to my town and I'll audition for a part.  lol  I'll be the frumpy one.

    moms,
Your doc must be REALLY handsome.

    minnie,
The sideways stance is predictable, but I'll forgive him.  :-)  I've never watched the New York series.

    yani,
I agree that the original is good.

    Zayda,
I really have never given the New York series a chance.  Is it edgier?

    tracie,
    Good luck with your studies!

    CW

  • Zayda said on Feb 15, 2007....
I think the NY version is edgier than the original one.  I particularly liked the episode that featured the Suicide Girls.  I thought it was really well done.

Right now, they have something going for the Stella's storyline in conjunction with KnowHIVAIDS.org, where viewers can blog about where they think her storyline should go as she confronts the possibility she was exposed to HIV.  The first part of that storyline was aired this past Wednesday.   It's interesting to see them pull in some interactive feedback from the viewers for this.

is it weird that i just don't dig on any of the shows at all? i liked emily procter in the west wing too, but i absolutely detest david caruso. i share super z's appreciation for gary sinise, however--the man's incredibly talented.

    Zayda,
I may have to check it out.

    IFO,
I do like the Las Vegas setting.  I would like to visit there someday.

    ed,
I loved Gary Sinise in Apollo 13.  I honestly haven't watched much of his tv work.

    CW
  • silverwhisper said on Feb 16, 2007....
he was fantastic in forrest gump, a movie i really didn't like actually, but for me, sinise's performance was a definite bright spot.

  • Zayda said on Feb 16, 2007....
Yes, Sinise was fantastic in Forrest Gump; he was the best part of the movie, to be honest.  I think it's some of his best work, but he was great in Apollo 13 too.

I don't know how much television work he's actually done.  I can't, off the top of my head, recall anything.  But there's probably been something other than CSI: NY.
  • CreativeWoman said on Feb 16, 2007....
I forgot about Sinise being in Forrest Gump.  He was good in that as well.

    CW
  • lioneljay said on Feb 16, 2007....
One of Gary Sinise's best roles ever was in the role of George in Of Mice and Men (1992). His filmography on imdb.com shows only a smattering of television appearances. CSI is his first full-time role in a series.

Gary Sinise grew up in a Chicago suburb and got his start in theater here. A few months ago, a childhood friend helped engineer a phone hookup between Gary and the friend's son's high school English class so the class could interview him about Of Mice and Men. By all reports he was gracious, generous, and very open in his talk with the class.

    lionel,
    That's pretty cool.  :-)

    CW
  • lioneljay said on Feb 16, 2007....
From everything I've heard, including from some people who worked with him during his early theater career in Chicago, Gary Sinise is the real deal: a decent human being who happens to be extraordinarily talented.
  • THEEMONK said on Feb 16, 2007....
I'll tell you. I like CSI Miami. I like the characters and the location is kinda cools but I absolutely hate that jackass Horatio. His characters makes me hope that one of the suspects will jump out of their chair and push him into a shark tank. Seeya, you condenscending jackass.
  • CreativeWoman said on Feb 16, 2007....
    lionel,
It's nice to see an actor who deserves respect.  :-)

    Monk,
Tell us how you really feel about Horatio.  lol  (I'm being sarcastic.)  Thanks for commenting.

I love all the CSIs. They all have their good points and great characters. I love H. He totally rocks!! Love Grissom too. And Mack has got his own thing going on.

Speaking of Gary Sinise, anyone ever watch "Imposter"? For all the lame reviews, I kinda liked it... :-)

  • CreativeWoman said on Feb 18, 2007....
    purr,
I remember the previews in the theater, but I never saw the movie.

I don't think I've seen the Imposter either, PK.  I may have to check it out since I really like Sinise.

  • purrrkitten said on Feb 19, 2007....

It's kind of a weird sci-fi movie. I dunno. It was twisty and turny but the concept was interesting. At least, I thought so...  ehhehehe...

  • silverwhisper said on Feb 19, 2007....
ah yes, it co-starred madeleine stowe. it was a bad movie IMHO, but the performances by both stars were superb.

Last night I caught a couple of episodes of the original show on A&E and laughed my ass off during one of them. The episode focused on finding the killer of a man who dressed in a furry animal costume for fun, faux sex, and love. It was another one of the creepy subject areas that this show has explored with a certain amount of energy.

Anyway, at one point Grissom and Willows were talking about relations between people dressed as furry creatures. Grissom observed that some people must become more aroused by the feel of fur than bare human skin. Willows' reply cracked me up: "I like chest hair as much as the next woman, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go out and bop a six-foot weasel."
  • MissMimi said on Feb 21, 2007....
Hmmm. I've bopped a six-foot weasel... Oh. You meant the hairy kind... :o
