CW- My wife does have one or two strange things about her and the treatment of her name is one. She wants to be called by her first name in it's entirety. No shortening of it, no nicknames, no pet names. No one at any time in her life has been allowed to make any change, even as a little girl.

No extra names with that girl.

Hello CW I have a pet name for my hb but its the usual babe! he calls me the same and the only reason is that when we had our first fight we used each others names like parents do.

"Tobi-Lee shut up and listen"... that kind of thing but every now and then he calls me sexy? doesn't really count does it how borring.... ho hum I hope someone else has a better name and story behind it.

I sometimes call my hubby - NEE (no idea where that came from), however I mostly call him Love and he calls me Darling.

Currently I call my little boy - Choekadoodi

I love making up pet names, or using cute word. . .I use to call my son "Munchkin" when he was a baby.

    Polar ;-)

I use pet names with my children all the time. It's quite a list: monster, princess, pumpkin, sweetie, blossom, petal are just a few.

I don't think I've ever given a pet name to a SO and can't recall being given one myself.

Other than the usual sweetheart, dearest and Love, I have no pet names for my girl. She sometimes calls me Piipii which is amusing. It's cute the way she says it.

CW:  I'm choking as I'm about to tell you all what my Husband calls me...MUFFIN?

I wonder if it's because my ass is as wide as the top of a freshly baked blueberry muffin...

It drives me nuts, but I don't say anything, lol.
    I just call him "Dude!"

My Daughter calls my Sister, Aunie.  She just decided one day that 'T' didn't belong in her title.  It's wicked cute though, she refuses to call her "Auntie!"  She calls my SIL Auntie and my other sister Auntie.

Daily, my kids both refer to my sister as Anut Linda. This goes back to when my son was little and he misspelled aunt. To this day they refer to her as Anut!
B calls me dearie. He never calls me by my name. It still sounds strange coming out of his mouth. I call him hunnybunny or buddyboy, or one other thing that I'm not saying.
  • MissMimi said on Feb 15, 2007....
I forgot-- a lot of the time, I call him some variation of his given name, a silly variation that I make up.
I have a lot of pet names for my children. I call my daughter cookie or loopy or peanut. I call my son buddy, or TS (his initials). When they were little I called them my little turtle doves.
Now that you think I'm thoroughly weird, shall I tell you my pet names for my cat? :D
  • dailyachesandpains said on Feb 15, 2007....
Mimi:  that's hysterical!  A-NUT!  ROFL!  I call my Daughter different things too...most recently "STORM"  due to the messes she creates in three seconds flat!

I have a few pet names for my son, but the one I use most often is Bug.  My husband and I also sometimes call him Bud, and his grandparents call him Toad sometimes.  We also use a derivation of his actual name as a pet name.

And, while this may seem strange, my pet name for my husband is Stinky.  (And it's not because he smells/stinks.)  I have no idea why I started calling him that but I did one day and it just stuck.

Occasionally, I'll call him Babe, but Stinky is the pet name that I use most often with him.

Because my husband and I first got to know one another through our online handles (we were introduced by friends of friends but lived too far away to meet in person for about 5 months), we still call each other by those online handles as if they were our real names.  (This can become confusing for our little man some days.)

My husband's pet name for me is "Sweetie".  And he has a few others, but those I'm not sharing.  ;)

Big Daddy! For the hubby. Curly for the youngest( His hair) Izzard(middle child) and the 1st has a short 1st name so there is no need for a nick or petname.

My husband and I call each other Ga, it's a local endearment, shortened from Palangga- a local version of Baby.

During our early years in marriage, we simply call each other by our first names, then after 4 years, we became bold and started calling each other Ga, privately at firs, 'cos people here in the Philippines squirms then at endearments :) then finally, we went public after a year hehehehe We felt stupid at first, we almost always receive that look from people. A look that say's eewwww.....

    Great post, CW.

My wife and I chose to call each other names that nobody else uses for us; strangely, we seldom use them, preferring instead words that come spontaneously to mind but are easily identifiable to the referred.

When I was a kid, I knew I was in trouble whenever my Dad called out to me my full name! When, he added '-boy' to my pet name, I knew the good times had rolled in again or at least there was a gift in the offing.

By the way, my late gradma could regale me with pet names for upwards of ten minutes (no kidding!): since I enjoyed it so much, my 9-month old daughter gets the treatment too and she just lights up with smiles.

My son has two pet names: he seems confused which one means he's in trouble. Keeps him on his toes that way - not too naughty.

A friend of mine has got a dog called Andrea and I think that's nice!
The nicest name I ever heard was Circe.
I'd like to have a black cat and if I will have one, I'll simply call it Cat.

I take to watching cartoons with them. And yes there is some real crap out there. But there are some new funny and bright additions interms of cartoons. So what do you your kids or loved ones with your free moments? We all have such overprocessed days so...
A nice thanksgiving.......
Rule of thumb:

When in doubt, don't do it.
When in doubt, its probably best to ask.

Or should I?...
I am searching, I am looking, but can I find it, or was it just there all along, and I just failed to acknowledge its presence.

Searching, looking, failing, or am I?...
