A while back, grapekoolaid wrote a post called Peace on Earth in which he included a link to a YouTunes site with an award winning vintage cartoon, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  But more than that, it turned me on to the existence of YouTube and the fact that I could access all these great animations and clips from my favorite TV shows.  I've been so busy lately, that I didn't spend much time with it, but in the last couple of days, I have taken to my bed with the flu.  Last night, I remembered about YouTube and decided to see what I could find.  I spent the entire night in bed, watching clips from some of my favorite old TV shows and some old, old cartoons.  Just the kind of comfort TV I needed to nurse this little flu along.  And a special treat for me, where the only TV progarmming I get is either in Polish (can be interesting at times), or some (usually not great) American shows, where, instead of dubbing or putting subtitles, they keep the original actors voices, but a man's voice reading all the dialogue in Polish is superimposed over it, so that you hear both the actor and the reader at the same time and can't really understand either.  So, it was really great to be able to hear all the punchlines loud and clear (the reader usually talks louder at the punchline and totally obscures everything).  Man, that was a nice night.  Thanks, Grape.

    Kruu:  Careful...Youtube can be VERY addictive, lol!

    Feeling any better?

     daily:  Nope, I'm actually feeling worse, and I'm really bummed, because I'm supposed to go out and eat donuts for Fat Thursday tomorrow.  Oh well, at least with YouTube, I'm not bored to death.  Tonight, I'm watching old episodes of All in the Family.  I alternate between watching videos and (while the videos are loading, which takes a long time) I either comment on soulcast posts, watch something on TV or read my very boring book, Shogun.  I hope it gets more interesting.  There are a lot of pages to get through.

    It's a nasty flu, so I've been told.  Little Daily had it for a day and then a week later had it again.  She actually puked in the car, that sucked.

    I used to watch All in the Family when I would get home at 2am from being out with my friends.  YEARS and AGES ago!  I've dabbled around with Ifilm.com a while back, not as good as Youtube, but there's some good stuff on it if you search hard enough!

    Feel better soon!  Fat Thursday...yummie!

    Thanks for the tip, daily.  I'll have to check it out.  And I hope Little Daily gets better soon.   (I sure hope we've got a different strain of the flu on this side of the Atlantic... on Saturday, I go up against 32 germ incubators... otherwise known as children)  :)

    i'm glad you're staying in bed.  i hope you can get your hands on some chicken soup and lots of fruit juice...

    Feel better soon!

  • kruuyai said on Feb 14, 2007....

    secret: well, now that you mention it, chicken soup is exactly one of the things that I suspect is aggravating the problem.  You see, for people with my blood type, (AB), chicken attacks our immune system.  And almost every meal that I get in this house consists of some sort of chicken soup.  Boss Lady's husband did make me some kielbasa this afternoon before Boss Lady brought me home some more chicken soup!  So, that was good.  Maybe things will balance out.  She also gave me a lemon, which I have been squeezing into my tea.  And I've been doing vitamin C and grapefruit seed extract.  If I can get myself dressed and out of the house one of these days, I'll probably go and pick up some co-enzyme Q-10, too.  That usually does the trick.  That's probably more than you wanted to hear... okay, so youtube isn't keeping me quite as entertained as all that!  :)

    Kruu...for a moment i thought...uh uh ...some sexy things going on in Polish land with Grape?.......lol......

    So i was a little disappointed knowing you were simply talking about YouTube..lol...

    I must be one very rare soul but i don't like YouTube. I found it depressing.

    It a costant stream of basically what? Life ...but not interpreted or rivisited like can be done through a movie, a song, a poem, a book or even a video (i love watching video music)...its just.... life....:-)

    I prefer watching movies. The suggestion from Daily is great.

    And i am a rare soul again because i NEVER eat chicken soup when i am sick. I do drink lots of water, Vitamic C, fruits, and i do stay at home if possible.

    Feel better. ...{hug, without germs}

    It was my pleasure to share with you.  It was one of those little clips that I really wanted to share with everyone here.  Youtube is great, but it makes me wonder sometimes, because it's so unrefined.  People will put up just about anything!  Though, if you search hard enough, you can find some real gems in there.  Series and whole episodes cut into segments, and all.

    Sorry to hear you're not feeling so well.  Just remember, keep your fluid levels up and keep warm.  I believe that rest is the best remedy for what ails ya.

    I am also honored to have been mentioned in your post.  Thank you.  You made my night.  :)

    Get well soon Kruu..
  • kruuyai said on Feb 15, 2007....

    Thanks, everyone for all your well wishes... I'm still doing about the same, but I went out today and got even more herbs and supplements... so now I'm doing vit. C, echinacea, grapefruit seed extract and co-enzyme Q-10!  Does anybody have any good remedies for what feels like it might be an ulcerated sore on the back of the throat (haven't been able to get a peek at it yet,  but that's what it feels like... kind of like a canker sore in the throat... I thought lysine should do the trick, but I haven't been able to find any here).

    Well, I know you were all expecting a little something else out of this post ;-)  Just goes to show what lengths I'll go to, to get a little attention when I'm sick.  :)

    Grape: thanks for blessing this post with your presence.  I'm kind of hoping more people will go on over and watch Peace on Earth because of this.  It seemed like I was the only one that saw that post at the time... maybe because of all the warring going on back then.  I thought it was really cool that you chose to post "Peace" in the midst of all that.  :)

    ginger et. al.: I would much rather watch a real movie or video, too, if I could, but with my budget and lack of cable, I don't get a chance to see much.  Waiting for the downloads is a drag, but then I can get carried away down memory lane for five minutes or so once it's downloaded.  It's true that there's a lot of drivel on there, but the search engine works pretty well.  I saw snippets of the movie "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" which I'd never seen before (and now would like to), and one of my favorite scenes from "Harvey" (can you tell I'm a James Stewart fan?) and lots more.  I rarely look at any of the amateur stuff.

    The tube is too much for my slow internet connection. I may have to upgrade.
    I tried the cartoon, but it was taking forever to load. So I gave up.

  • kruuyai said on Feb 15, 2007....
    ALIEN: Yeah, I have that same problem.  I usually load a video in one window and do something else in another....  or do something else altogether.  Then, I "watch it again" and it usually goes without a hitch the second time around.

    kruu- If you will, go to YouTube and search puppet girl. On page one there should be a clip entitled "The little girl giant-playing in the park". I love this.
  • gingersoul said on Feb 15, 2007....
    Kruu..........for you sore...try gargling with water and baking soda...or water and lemon...it cleans and disinfects.....good luck........get well...{hugs}t
  • kruuyai said on Feb 15, 2007....

    beyond:  I've got it loading now... I'll let you know how I like it.

    ginger:  I went to the store this morning and got some hydrogen peroxide.  I had run out before, but gargling with a mixture of half water and half hydrogen peroxide should do a good job of cleaning and disinfecting too... I would think?  The only problem with gargling is that it doesn't seem to go down far enough.  One of my friends here told me to drink beer!  lol  {{hug}}}
