My mom is a total ignorant when it comes to computers. More than once I've tried to teach her how to use it, you know, the basic stuff. She just won't let me. I think I can count with one hand the times she has actually approached my PC (and not for cleaning it). It's quite weird (is it?) since I'm such a techie.

It makes me feel bad, because I feel like everyone out there is at least able to turn his/her PC on, log in to their e-mail, and read the news. My mom doesn't even know which one is the power button. I know, shame on me. On my defense, I once managed to teach her how to use the mouse and click on stuff. Sadly, I think such a skill has already vanished from her memory.

She tells me that she won't have anyone making fun of her. I don't know why she says that. I mean, if anything, it's weird NOT know how to operate a computer. She's proud, so maybe she thinks I'll laugh at her.

If only she knew how powerful a computer can be. *sigh*

Just.-

P.S.: I would really like tips, suggestions, and anything that could help me to get her to learn. Thanks!

justop, i think the problem isn't that she doesn't want to learn how to make her computer work. i think that the problem is that it's you trying to teach her. has she always been the one in control, the one who provided the information? if so, this role reversal may be extremely difficult for her.

honestly, maybe it would be better to give her a book?
