Hebrews 11:1: Now faith is being certain what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. NIV
Listen to the birds of a wildlife sanctuary. Such exuberance. They are into their life. And to think they spent the night outside in the chilling fog and I had a nice heated yurt with a wood stove. What are they so happy about?
A Broadway musical once said “celebrate sensation. You’ve been there. You remember. “I wonder if the birds of the wild are closer to God than we are?
It’s all a matter of what we look at. They celebrate the blessings of a new day. We sat Good Lord; we have to go to work again, not realizing that what we do is a gift and blessing from God. Some birds spend their lives digging bugs out of dead trees. That doesn’t seem like fun to me. And don’t forget that these birds are part of the food chain. There are certain things they have to know and do to stay alive. But they do not live in their problems Certainly not on a glorious day with the Sun coming up.
So what’s the difference? Do we celebrate a new day and new blessings? Or do we worry that the boss is going to have us for lunch? Authority and power is given by God. We know that intellectually. Do we know it in our hearts? Do we know and realize that sometimes we do have to dig bugs out of dead trees? Even that can be good, as long as we are in God’s plan for us
