Richard Dawkins;
It seems to me that your book "The God Delusion" does more to prove that inhumanity is a direct consequence of people not thinking for themselves-- in this case, replacing reason with a blind faith in God. However, another absolute concept could easily take the place of God, one that would appeal to an atheist audience: charismatic leadership, nationalism, corporate capitalism or social democracy for that matter (i.e. a meme, as you would call it). Isn't it presumptuous of you to say that it's religion?
Regarding the existence of God itself, isn't that a matter of how you define the term? Science continuously provides new paradigms into the nature of causality, but its line of inquiry can not explain why that causality is there in the first place. In fact, it can only offer yet another line of causality. Your book only points out that God is not a causal entity, something any student in seminary college would gladly agree with you.
The concept of God, if it can be defined in any way, speaks of the origin of the universe. The origin, by its nature, cannot be determined through dualistic means of subject/object. Your view of the world, in my opinion, is just as one-dimensional as the stroe-front preacher's.
Sincerely,
