Been thinking tonight, doing the accounts for my company, filing invoices, transferring funds online etc, what a bloody bore! I'm thinking of my ideal job, living the dream. Dont get me wrong I love what I do and it would have to be a fantastic opportunity to get me to change, also gotta think of my business partner who would be a bit stuck if I quit. Anyway the dream job has just occured to me, Storm chaser! How cool would that be? only problem is I'm in the UK so its more "a bit dull with the chance of showers and staying cold chaser". Geography is so cruel. Failing that and probably another 10 careers that I'm neither qualified for and / or physically fit enough for I'd like to work from home, no idea how to do that though apart from writer, cant do it, or stuffing envelopes, wont do it. What would be your dream job? or do ya have it? just curious how many of us have found their work nirvana.

i'm a technical writer for a large telecommunications company.  For the past 4 years i've worked full time from home.

it is a great thing to be able to do......it does require alot of self discipline, but i'm home in the morning with my kids, and in the afternoon when they come from school....i don't have to worry about the commute, the weather, etc etc.

i know i'm lucky to have this type of job.

i'd still like to own my own small business one day...

Sounds cool Secret, you are lucky to have that oportunity. I think you need to be in a certain mind set though not to need to meet people during work hours. I reckon I could do that, I enjoy solitude and am quite happy with my own company but someone I knew way back started working from home and had to go back into "regular" work due to the need to physically interact. Different people eh mate.

    22. storm chaser?......oh, you need to move here in Texas then!.... lol...

You will have the fun of your life! Here the weather changes so rapidly and in so dramatic way that i can get out of my house in shorts and sleevless at 9 and back home after one hour because i have to grab a coat.......the temp falls of 20-30 degres in a matter of hour......last ice storm hit us in this way...it was very mild in the morning....around 60 something....i was at home and i saw some clouds...i went outside on the balcony.......still pretty warm......went outside after 10 minutes and it was freezing!

And don't even let me start with tornados, electric storms, ferocius winds.....

the wheater guys are idols here.....people is addicted to watch them so to have a little anticipation of the next misery.....lol...

I did your job: accounting, filing invoices, online banking.....it pulled the brain out of me! I am just horrible at math...i still think that job has been one of the biggest mistery of my life..wait.. of all humanity...Bermuda Triangle pales in comparison...lol..

    Good luck chasing your dreams......:-)

Weather fascinates me Ginger, I'll see ya at the airport my friend,  ;) I love both its intensity and its tranquillity. UK weather is now so mundane. I remember as a kid having 2 feet of snow, violent electrical storms, fog as thick as rice pudding and summers hotter than hell, refer to 1976. I remember rain that felt as though it was stripping your skin from the bones and wind that freeze dried your eyes :-) Now its just pretty much same as same all year round, never too hot, never too dry, never too cold. Snow is gonna be a memory for the next generation I reckon. My brother lives in Canada so he tells me about stuff like the Montreal ice storms and other extremes. That was a bad time and I know people suffered but it must have been an incredible experience.
I'm a builder mate, not an accountant, book keeping is just a very small part of what I do. I'm actually glad I was never clever enough to get an office job. And as for Math I'm terrible as sure as 2 + 2 is eggs :-) You dont seem like number crunching is for you either, stay happy Ginger.

22......oh, that job is long gone, luckily. You are right, i am not a number crunching girl....i am so off with math that everyboyd makes fun of me, even my daughter...you know which one is the greatest invention ever? The tip calculator in my cell: you wont believe me but when it was stime to pay the bill i just wanted to die...i never got the tips rigth and i hated to leave a low one.......now, i smile like a princess, flip my cell and bam, got the rigth tip on the table like a pro......lol....

About the weather..... oh yes...what are you doing in England? Leave it to the  Queen and fly here....Texas is definetely your place!...lol...

The last electric storm we had has been around October......i hate lighthings, i love the sound of thunder..its sensual....but lightnings scare the hell out of me...and that storm provided more than i ever wated to see, believe me...   :-)

If I had the choice Ginger and things were right I'd be in Texas first thing tomorrow mate, the Queen could take my white van and get on with it :) I've named my prize on another post anyway so you will be OK next storm :-)
  • gingersoul said on Feb 12, 2007....

22.........i went to read your other post....you are too nice....:-)

ok, so its a virtual done deal.....BUT you will have to fly here DURING the next electric storm and tell me how does it feel been up there sorrounded but all those lightnings...... i have an idea our cuddling is going to be more than electrifying then...LOL....

Ginger, I flew to Corfu years back and hit an electric storm over I think Yugoslavia, as it was then. Not overly keen mate. Jeeps in storms are one thing planes are another. Looking down on the clouds and watching the stroboscopic explosions was incredible, the feeling of impending death was'nt so hot :-) Then again if a Gingersoul cuddle is on offer I'll dust off my passport and jump into the lightning clouds :)
