  • mobil said on Feb 07, 2007....
I wonder if they died like that or were placed like that? I wonder too if this; no
to old for Romeo and what's her name.........haha

Very nice Ginger, you are a romantic and now, a romantic who can make a
    nice little link........thanks
  • purrrkitten said on Feb 07, 2007....

It is sweet and romantic - in a creepy sort of way, you know?

I guess maybe when I'm cremated, we could have our ashes mingled...

  • gingersoul said on Feb 07, 2007....

Queen.....i found it so sweet...wonder who they were now......spouses, secret lovers, siblings?

Mobil....awhhhh, yes, i admit it....sometimes this cynical, hard woman has her sudden bust of romanticism....it must be all that Romeo an Juliet i read at school....LOL...or all that all love notes in my Baci Perugina....

and yes, look at me..isn't a cute little link i made?..am i good or what?

now somebody (and i dont say the name but i point to with the finger ^ (pointing at you) has still to learn to do something here at SC, isn't it?..

    eh eh eh ....

  • mobil said on Feb 07, 2007....

Oh, I get it Ginger.........you're pointing at SL........yes, she must learn to

be more open, right? I join you with another pointing finger at her >>>

    lol..........thanks Ginger.....you romantic you !

  • gingersoul said on Feb 07, 2007....

Purr....i want to be cremated too ...but if when i die i will have a loving partner with me holding my hand and sharing my same idea it would be great to have our ashed mingled together and scattered into the ocean....

hoping that it doesn't happen what happens in that episode of "Six feet under" where Nate gives to his death wife's sister the ashes of somebody else because he wants to bury her.....heck.....i dont want my ashes being mingled with the ones of a complete stranger......i mean.....we are dead, right...but some privacy? are we keep going with this blind dates again? even in afterlife?...noooooo...LOL....

Mobil....oh you, sweet ass.....LOL....how you dare flipping a virtual bird to Secret in MY blog?...Now she is going to flip it to both of us....you are a troublemaker....and, btw, Secret cant be more open than she already is...:-)

  • secretlife said on Feb 07, 2007....

ginger:  now doesn't it make you wonder the story behind those 2?  i took one look at that picture and find myself making up their love story.....like maybe some catastrophic event like a volcano eruption or earthquake happened, and they were trapped together and knew they were going to die, and decided that their embrace was a way to face it....make it easier knowing they would be together forever....

about flipping you both off?  me?  c'mon everyone knows i'm far too sweet for that!

he is an instigator though, that's for sure....

i'd gladly teach him how to do a link, but aren't you almost afraid to see the places he'd point us to?

  • gingersoul said on Feb 07, 2007....

Secret........what if , as usual, the real story is less than romantic after all?

What if they were bloody fighting over a piece of meat and fell from a cliff and their arms happened to get stuck in that way? ....but i like to believe they chose to die with that embrace.....

About Mobil....i am not afraid to see where he'd point us....... because then HE would be the one to be afraid......very afraid...lol....

ginger- I don't know what happened to my comment because it was there when I hit the submit icon. Anyway, I'm curious as to whether they were caught suddenly like the great discoveries at Pompeii. But I can't recall a volcano around Rome.

If love isn't the engine of the world, it's definately the fuel.
  • gingersoul said on Feb 07, 2007....

Beyond......the two ancient huggers have been found not in Rome but in a country side close to Mantova, in the North of Italy....

the area doesnt present any sismic interest but in the past the situation must have been surely different....

The archeologists were indeed amazingly surprised by the fact that not even at Pompei or Ercolano where they found the biggest number of skeleton....not even there they found a couple caught in their last embrace like these two loveky huggers...... i have been at Pompei and Ercolano and you can see bodies eternally frozen in any possible position...even dog bowing their heads underneath the legs of their owner....but none of them has been found embracing in this way...

moonriver confucius say: neolithic romeo and juliet, definitely. maybe romeo belong wolf clan and juliet belong bear clan. maybe bear and wolf clans always armed feud, object to romeo-juliet pairing, and so on... me very glad gingersoul teach herself to make links, me only there to tease her if she not doing it right. hahaha.

  • husbandhater said on Feb 07, 2007....
Your link doesn't work. but love is grand.
  • kruuyai said on Feb 07, 2007....

I saw that photo on yahoo this morning.  Since it was found in Italy, I assumed that they were sleeping that way when they were covered with volcanic ash.

ginger:  I didn't find that little thing I'm looking for here.  Am I on the right post?  I looked on the last one too, but didn't find it.  And re: babelfish... yeah, it's pretty good, but I still had to do some major corrections, because it does everything literally, and word for word and doesn't always use the right version of synonyms.  I guess I must not have done a very good job if you could still tell that I used babelfish?  :(

ginger -- i followed and read the other newslinks from your first link, it's all in the wires. i have a great interest in archeology. although it's my sister who has formal training, i was able to borrow and cadge many of her textbooks. it wasn't any sudden volcanic-ash entrapment like in pompeii, but a ritual burial in a well-established burial site after the young couple died. with archaeo tools nowadays, dna, coprology, palynology etc., scientists can probably establish the most probable cause of death, how the two were related, what they ate just before they died, what flowers were strewn over their bodies, etc. btw, the site is near verona, where shakespeare located his romy-n-julie story ;-)
  • gingersoul said on Feb 07, 2007....

Moon.. .. yes, I noticed immediately the fact that Mantova and Verona are quite close even though not that close..... and the Shakespeare link too...actually i was even smelling a prank right there because of the Valentine's day coming up...what a perfect Valentine discovery, dont' you think so? My inner cynical reporter...;-)

We have to wait for the results of the test but it looks they are very young ..their teeth wen't worn out like the skeletons of adult kind...

Now I have to confess you something i feel still guilty....... well, you know in Italy we are full of "old stuff".....lol........we breath archeology...so one summer during one of my dad's sailing trips we went to Giannutri, a small delicate but wild island 4 hours sailing time from the coast.  For its proximity to the Rome's port, Ostia, the island has been home of the "otium" (vacation) of the Emperors and rich families. (nothing changed much....). They built a beautiful small temple dedicated to Giunone, wife of Giove (Zeus).

There is beautiful mosaic open air  at the end of the anphiteatrum...well....when we visited it the site was amazingly still compeletely unguarded...open...no archeoligical security..nothing..so we got it all for ourself......and i simply didnt resist the urge to steal 5 small piece of the mosaic....i stil have them..they are one of my most precious possession....the mosaic was already statting to be vandalized by other stupid people like me ...years later they finally closed it and protected it..

I always felt guilt ....i never ever stole anything else and always fought with the urge to simply touch some statues or paintings ...

    Can you forgive me?....:-).....

    CW....i agree with you.....defeating time......

  • Lucytorial said on Feb 07, 2007....

Hi ginger, after my own heart! one of my novels is based or archeology - albeit in AUS northern territory called Lawn Hill.  Fabulous area full of many prehistoric animal finds and other itneresting tid bits.

I could see myself doing this cant you? to lay in the arms of my lover knowing that some idiot has pushed that red button its the end and I want to look in to his eyes when it happens  {gush gush} truly romantic.

  • momsrock said on Feb 07, 2007....

I also started making up their story as soon as I saw the picture. I would like to think they died in each other's arms....if it turns out not to be the case, I don't want to know! :)

  • gingersoul said on Feb 07, 2007....

    Lucy.........interesting novel for sure....:-)

oh yes...the last embrace ...... hoping death will be quick anyway ...:-O

  • Jenna said on Feb 08, 2007....

When I saw that pic yesterday morning....my heart warmed immediately...and like others here...I made up their love story in my mind.

(Hey Ginger...now that you are a link expert...can you teach me?  LOL...I have to warn you though...you will need a lot of patience....I am so inept when it comes to such things...just ask SL and satyr...they have been more than patient with me.)

  • gingersoul said on Feb 08, 2007....

    Moms........lol........me either...i am sticking with this Romeo-Juliet story and thats is...we need some pink glasses on once in a while..{{hugs}}

Quid......thank you....glad you stop by and that you like it.....it is uplifting, isn't?...:-)
