These are the garifunas. They dance to their own music and sing in their own dialect. Sometimes they wear elaborate costumes and they really are a treat to watch.
These carpets stretch for miles and miles across a city called Comayagua. They are made from sawdust. People take the sawdust and dye it different colors and then carefully create elaborate patterns. Everyone walks to the sides so that the carpets won't be destroyed. It is a one day event one time a year.
This is the inside of an old spanish fortress in the city of Trujillo. The city is filled with historical places. Castles the spanish built, their cannons, etc.
Just two examples of the many animals found in Honduras. To the left you have the howler monkey and to the right a family of manatees. These and many others roam wild in the ecological preserve Cuero y Salado. Just a few minutes from where I live.
Oh, your country is absolutely beautiful.......would you send me a ticket? ..lol..
I am fascinated...I friend of mine went in Honduras years ago for 2 weeks in vacation and he showed me hundreds and hundreds of pictures. One place more beatiful and colorful than the other one.......he said the people was really nice and warm and easy going. He was caught in a middle of some trouble in a city (i dont recall the name), somebody got killed.....but the rest of his stay has been great. He always say he would love to come back there...he remembered Tegucigalpa and Truhillo and the Majan ruins.....
tthank you for these great pictures...:-)
Yes, my friend has been really impressed by Trujillo....thanks again for sharing those beaities with us...i needed some crystal blue sea in front of me...LOL....
are you currently living there?
Yes I am currently living in Honduras. My house is actually two blocks away from the beach you can see where the garifuans are singing. I can gaze out my window and see the ocean, people playing in the sand, the ferry making its daily trip to Roatan.
Silver, if it hadn't been for your curiosity about my country I probably wouldn't have thought to post some pictures of Honduras
no job, no money, living at home.
I'm not unsatisfied about the place I live, its more about the state my life is in. I realize my life is my responsibility and if I want things to change I should make it happen. I'm trying...its just a bit hard sometimes.
