My brother had 2 interviews with a pretty big company a week ago. The interviewer told him that he was sending my brother's paperwork to HR and should have heard from the guy at least on Monday of this week. My brother hasn't heard from the company so I encouraged him to call to find out if he was still being considered for the position which he had applied. My brother has refused to call because he told me that when he applied for a different position at a different company, he was told by the person (in a rude matter according to my brother) he talked to if he called and asked about the position one more time, he was not going to consider him for the position.
I was taught long ago through career centers in college and employment agencies that if you don't hear from a potential employer about the status of you applicant or interview within 2 weeks, you should call to find out if you are still being considered for the position.
Can a potential employer tell you if you call back to check to see if you are still being considered for a position, they won't consider you for the job? I think that is very unprofessional for that person to be that rude in the first place.
