Back in December, bloc posted the following article in his blog:

It sparked a lively discussion (including incredulous variations of "what-the-hell-is-this-guy's-damage" criticisms).  The following is my response to it (which was initially posted in his entry's comments section):

"First, I notice this Jim Rutz guy has mentioned exactly zero years of medical study in his mini-bio at the end of the article.  Any person offering medical opinions knows (or ought to know) how important it is to state their experience with health or medical study.  And, no, starting your own church doesn't count as health or medical study.  He also has neglected to cite the sources of his "recent research" by unnamed "doctors."  This leads me to conclude that he's probably just mouthing off, and not actually trying to educate anyone.  Because if he were trying to educate anyone, he would have shown more evidence of his claims.

Second, if he had done any research into the subject, he would have found that (as several other astute people have mentioned here [in the comments section]) cow-milk is worse for human health than soy milk.  I remember from my highschool biology class that cow-milk (and fast food and high-trans-fat foods, etc) can lead to, among other things, obesity, flatulence, and even osteoperosis!  In the health video, we were told that people suffering from osetoperosis (which is a dire lack of calcium) are told NOT to have dairy products, as that will only exacerbate the condition.  Countries that serve Asian cuisine which includes tofu (and consume far less meat and dairy than Westerners) not only have less problems with obesity--they also have less problems with osteoperosis.  So I would infer that they're doing something right.

Third, Mr. Rutz states that soy milk is bad for boys because it will lead to smaller penises, "sexual confusion and homosexuality."  This is utter crap.  I have not done any organized kinds of research, but I know two guys from the South who were raised on the most greasy, bloody and/or dairy-laden foods known to man--and they are both out and proud of it.  The only time they've ever had anything with tofu in it was when they first came to San Francisco--and they both disliked it and went back to eating steaks and what-not.  Because they like it.  Additionally, penis size is varied and absolutely no indication of homo- or heterosexuality--there are straight guys with small and large sizes, just as there are gay guys with small and large sizes.

Fourth, lastly, and most heinous (I think) of all, this nutjob has the following to say about why soy milk is bad for girls:

"If he is a she [heh heh, 'he-she'...], brace yourself for watching her reach menarche as young as seven, robbing her of years of childhood."

I'm told from very reliable authorities on the subject (i.e. women I've talked to) that menstruation--while being initially shocking due to its sheer unexpectedness--is generally quickly gotten over, and thus nothing that will "rob" a girl of her childhood, by itself.  It's just something that happens to female human beings and has to be dealt with each month, and which does not necessarily affect a girl's interests or personality (and if so, it's only temporary).  Also, there are a hell of a lot of things that can cause girls to get their periods early--none of which can be attributed to any soy products.  Among those possible influences are obesity (which, as we've already established, can't be blamed on soy milk), the presence of stepfathers, stepbrothers or genetically unrelated males (and their genetically unrelated pheromones acting as subconscious biological triggers), and prolonged childhood sexual abuse.

And this whackjob is worried about soy milk?

If he's really into protecting children and their health and what-not, I think Jim Rutz needs to seriously reconsider his priorities.

And, in addition to being a terrible actor and an ugly excuse for a human bring, Chuck Norris ought to rethink who he gives his support to.  But then again, he was a D.A.R.E. advocate--and that program was a monumental waste of tax dollars."

...

Apparently, Rutz was e-mail-bombed so much (by fans and critics alike) that he actually wrote out a SIX PART explanation (including on-line footnotes of some sort, most of which all lead to the exact same bible-thumping site) of why soy is bad, wrong and evil.  SIX PARTS.  The last part, for your information, expounding on his fervent belief that soy is an illegal waste product, and that anyone who eats soy is...like, putting waste in their mouths.  Or something--to be honest, I just browsed it this morning and couldn't stop laughing long enough to analyze it properly.

All I know is, if I can squeeze it into my schedule, I'm definitely taking this guy to task like I've promised to do to Chuck Norris.  Because I'm a sucker for verbally backhanding morons.

http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/avoid_soy2.htm I've read this article recently and wanted to know more about the effects of soy to childern. If this article is based on research and I kinda do believe now that too much soy for babies can't be good. The article doesn't not say anything about how soy makes babies gay but it does have information on a lot of the side effects that childern experienced when they were fed soy milk as an infant. I think the most nutricious and healthy meal that u can feed to an infact is breast milk. I know it's hard for some mothers out there, but I think the government should try and help out more to keep mothers at home to look after their babies than encouraging them to leave them at the day care and work full time.

San Francisco, CA. 87% Of Gay Men And 58% Of Lesbians Use The Internet To Find A Partner That’s the latest count according to Online Personals Watch, the bible of the online dating industry. Clearly online dating has become the gold standard for meeting in the gay community. Whether to find a quick match, or something more serious, it’s a wide net that can be cast with very little effort. So what’s the problem? The problem is that almost none of these dating sites do any pre-screening! None! Nada! Zero! Zip! A new site to the rescue! Guys That Lie.com (www.guysthatlie.com). It’s all about the little things you’d like to know about that guy you just met online. Like -- how old is he really? Is he healthy or a Typhoid Mary? Harvard graduate or jr. high school dropout? Is he really a brilliant brain surgeon -- or a failing door-to-door aluminum siding salesman? What about money? Has he got it or not? Does he actually own a chic condo on Park Avenue or does he share a sleazy basement apartment with three other losers? And is he really available – or is he cheating on his long-time, live-in partner? And what about a criminal record? Yes or No? So what to do? The intelligent and safe thing to do is to order an in-depth background check. Ready to lay out a couple of hundred dollars and wait a few weeks for the answers? Probably not. “And that”, says Crystal Jacquez, managing editor of GuysThat Lie.com “is exactly why we spent over a year building a web site that’s designed to act as a powerful online lie detector. GuysThat Lie.com, is built atop more than 100 of the most powerful databases on the web. It affords an intense and invasive look into the personal backgrounds of tens of millions of guys – in order to help online daters find out if they’re dealing with a congenital liar or with the real deal.” Where does the site get its information? “Well,” continues Jacquez, “if the guy has ever paid taxes, state, local, or federal – If he’s ever paid a gas or electric bill, or a telephone or cell phone bill, or a cable bill -- If he’s ever owned or rented property, including a home or condo, brought or leased a car -- If he’s ever used a credit card or even applied for credit or ever bought anything on credit – Then we’ve got him in one of our databases. Plus, if he’s ever gone to a college or university, or held down a job -- or if he ever sued anybody or has been sued – If anyone has ever written about him in a blog or on Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter -- If he’s ever been busted, or served time, and, in many cases, if he ever even gotten a traffic ticket – he’s in there somewhere – and you can read all about it – free!” And what if he’s using a phony name – as tens of thousands of guys online do? Then all those Guys That Lie databases are worthless. Right? “Wrong!” says Jacquez, “Because a special section of Guys That Lie that is devoted to outing guys who are using phony names, or even just ‘user names’.” “How difficult is it to use Guys and Lies?” Asks Jacquez. “Actually it has a starkly simple and intuitive interface. There are 33 highly personal questions you can ask about this guy, all on the homepage Simply click on any question about him that you want answered – Then type in his name – Then click again and get the real story instantly! That’s all there is to it – and it’s free and you don’t even have to register. And those 33 questions answer any and all of the questions posed at the beginning of this news release.” “In short,” continues Jacquez, “we have in-depth information on this guy unless he’s recently moved here from another galaxy – and we’re working on that one now.” Guysandlies.com was originally designed to checkout guys who men and women meet on online. “But,” according to Jacquez, “we’re getting a lot of email telling us that its also being widely used to check out friends and relations, neighbors, co-workers, bosses, in-laws, teachers, enemies, people in the news, whoever…" Contact: Crystal Jacquez, managing editor Guys and Lies.com 415 678-8610 Crystal02@guysthatlie.com http://www.Guysthatlies.com
