lots of good places for 'me' time....
- the bathtub in my room....there's a jacuzzi on it, and a lock on the door....makes for a good combo when i'm in the mood for an hour of peace....
- my sitting room ...this is where i go with a book.....i have a neat little love seat and a great warm blanket- plus there's a window with a view of the hills in there, so if i look up, i can always daydream....
- nail salon ...yes, i'm one of those women who loves to have her nails done. whenever i do for a manicure or pedicure i feel i've done something good for me
- hair salon....is there anything better than having your hair washed? for me, that's a great 'me' thing to do...
- my walk......i have a walk i do every day.....this is really my 'me' time for a regular day.....1/2 of it is thru the swamp lands...the other half in a barely residential area and it ends at a large town park....i listen to tunes on my ipod...and this walk refreshes me in all ways.
Dicco.....sitting here at the comp is my favorite me time. I have a mini stereo on top of my desk so i write and listen to my favorite music at the same time. When i want to concentrate i play Baroque music or lounge music...specially if i write poetries or answer some friend emails..
Reading is a precious me time. Or watching a movie or going to a bookstore, like beyond......i zone out easily even working out...my brain simply unplug and i focus only in my exercises...
when i was in my country i used to go walking on the beach or in the woods on top my city...... now i use some long walks with my dog.....
I missed out music and reading. In regards to music I much prefer my guitar to listening but do love to just sit and listen too. If I want to taste the sublime for me Moonlight Sonata's opening passage hits me most in terms of letting the world go. But favourite bands include Matchbox 20, Ugly Kid Joe, Jack Johnson, Red Hot Chillis, G'N'R, GooGoo Dolls, Incubus, Razorlight, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, and on and on. I listen to everything really.
As for reading I always have at least three books on the go at any given time. And I read ecclectically. Don't always get as much time as I'd like but commuting and insomnia still help.
Music. I play the piano (not well, mind you, but I do play), and I used to sing.
More likely, I go into my sewing room, close the door and just relax into the zen of quilting. The mathematics of patchwork is soothing for me. Music, loud music, is my companion there as well; anything from Beethoven to Metallica. When I'm in there, I can't hear the phone ring, an added plus.
Writing's a good escape too.
I like to sit here at the computer, but there's more than "me" around usually. If Husband's home to take care of daughter, I usually go up to my room and just chill out. I like to check my closet to make sure it's still in "order!"
My real me time is at therapy sessions, lol!
Daily
If I am not angry with the hubby, I tell my him that I want to be alone.
I lock myself in the bedroom and read, doze off, read again then doze off until such time that he can't hold out the kids any longer :)
If I'm angry with him, I go out to watch a movie and pig out at the mall.
