I came up with several joke answers, then stopped myself. What a question! I hope you get a lot of good serious answers, so I can get some idea of what to do if it ever happens. I guess I would start praying better, and hope communication from the good guys doesn't cease. Could we fight back? How? -

my response is entirely too dependent upon the situation. after all, what nation has the means and ability to invade? the last folks who tried it were the brits and that was a pretty long time ago.

In a pure hypothetical, with an invasion on our shores & at our borders, I'd take my wife to a safer inland location & with my guns, choose or be sent to a defensive position. Is there really any other alternative? The military isn't large enough to withstand a full scale invasion from different directions. Who wouldn't do this? -

silverwhisper- A single nation may not have the forces required, but a group would. The Brits actually could have successfully invaded us then since the only real victory we had was after the war was technically over.
beyondtheveil- There really isn't an alternative, unless you would consider being a traitor one. But that isn't an option for me and hopefully most Americans.

NS, my response is still dependent upon the situation: is it a conventional, biochem or nuclear threat that most concerns me? means of being prepared are different for each situation. i can't respond meaningfully w/out some kind of context.

If they allowed us freedom of religion I would probably try and adapt, but if they didn't I would try and go to another country. I am too old to be of value in a military resistance. If I were younger I would try to join a resistance group. When I say adapt I wold try to resist in subtle ways through an old cogers network. But the invading force would probably have a fight the way this country is armed and the various militia groups could probably conduct a farily effective guerilla war. -

If another country invaded America, I would stand strong and fight to my very death. I hope that every American citizen would do the same. I strongly believe in this country, and we have the most advanced and powerful military in the world. We could stave off any attack from any number of countries no matter what the circumstances. -

in that case, where i live is theoretically at risk so i would move w/ my wife, taking all emergency/critical papers. my first duty is to ensure her safety and as a civilian i can do that best by getting the hell out of the way of the armed services, who are trained & equipped for that kind of thing.
i would probably relocate to an area that i could somehow consider safe and try to scrounge some self-defense equipment: a rifle or other longarm and proper ammo as well as communications equipment.
since we would ideally have a few hours of warning prior to such a thing happening though, that gives me hope of acquiring those things before urgency/enemy soldiers make it a particularly pressing concern, i would think.
