Of late meditation has become the buzzword. Earlier, meditation was originally thought to be an oriental ritual to quieten the mind. However, the western mind was oblivious to the benefits of meditation. But, rapid industrialization has changed the life styles of majority. The consequences of industrialization gave rise to air, water and noise pollution which have aggravated the situation further. There is hardly anyone who has not felt the pangs of modernization. The altered life styles have brought in their wake new problems and life style diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. The modern man has started looking towards the alternative systems of medicine and practices. Meditation seems to have become the panacea for modern day life style diseases owing to all round benefits without any side effects. Currently, meditation teachers are in great demand and horde of individuals are reaching the shores of India for getting that rare commodity called peace of mind and tranquility. Meditation seems to be the only answer in the present day chaotic world. The natural question arises as to what is meditation? In simple terms, it is the practice of mindfulness, attentiveness, and awareness. Above all, it establishes an attitude of mind. Make yourself a study ‘away from it all’, even though it’s only an attic room. Go to this ‘retreat’ regularly. You must shut out all noises, and listen to the voice of your subconscious, the voice of magic. You must always take that ‘listening’ attitude, as though you were expecting to hear. You must silence your thoughts. Empty your mind. Stillness is one of the most important attributes to bring out the magic in your mind. If you are to bring out the magic in your mind, you must, above all things, cultivate silence and meditation. Everyday you must work with it until you can sit in the silence for atleast half an hour. Go into the silence – and listen – every day until you can sit like that for one hour or better still, two. You must develop your sixth sense like this. You are guided by your reasoning faculties, you have to reason things out, but if you would listen to the voice of your subconscious, and pay attention to it, you would be right every time. Ask your subconscious to guide you, and it will do so. You would never make a mistake, no, never, if you were guided by your subconscious. Say with all your heart. ‘Let me be wealthy” or ‘let there be health’ or anything else you want, and these things are bound to manifest. You must give a certain period each day to silence and meditation. Why must you do this? Because, then you are converted into transmitting station between your subconscious mind and yourself – your needs. Images are the languages of the subconscious. If you hold the image of yourself as successful and prosperous as you meditate, it will deeply penetrate into your subconscious mind and if strong enough and deep enough, will act as an automatic brake against bad and negative impulses. Listen to your subconscious during meditation. Meditate, meditate properly. The secret lies in meditation. Let the meditation of your heart and the power of your word be good. Is it good? Is it kind? The more pure you are the bigger magic you can do. You must try and refine yourself like a gold in a furnace. You get nothing for nothing. You must earn it. The thought transmission is stronger the purer you are, for then you can submit waves of higher frequency. Waves transmitted by silent meditation are more powerful and far reaching, than the waves of the spoken word.
