I'm inspired by Piper's blog on movie ratings. It made me think about all the Oscar contenders out there. Has anyone seen any of them? ("Blood Diamond," "The Queen,"etc...)

What in your opinion(s) is the Best Picture of 2006?
What is worth seeing and what should I skip and why?

I got little miss sunshine on dvd and have to watch it because everyone is raving about it. I got a very clear copy of Dream Girls( sorry guys an academy award viewing copy) and Queen is on my list to see. as for the other nominatins? I've heard about them as small films or have no interest. Leo with a forced Brit accent is not my cup of tea. Although him in the departed was brilliant and his best work since titanic. Marc Walberg through me for a loop. He was not my idea of a nominee although he was also good in the departed. As was Damon and Nickolson. I think the Academy was itching to give him one since he did that movie with Clooney, but the right opportunity didn't present itself till now.

Who ever knows what those dumb weird ass beautiful people are thinking. They wouldn't know talent if they got bit on the ass by it. These are the same jerks that voted "IT's hard out there for a pimp as SONG of the Year for an academy award.

Ed: You sound just like me (lol)! I can never remember what I've seen unless it was five minutes ago.

HH: Thanks for the titles. I'm going to make an effort to see some of these in the next few weeks. I'm dying to see "The Queen" and "The Devil Wears Prada" because I've heard such great things about both.

I've also heard great things about "Blood Diamond" but have the same misgivings about Leo. Time will tell I guess.

I went to the video store looking for films to buy, but they were all chick flix. Are all of the good movies from the past?
I ended up buying that old movie MASH which was fun, but very old. Donald Sotherland is always good, but I want something new...
