Hello world, hello soulcast.com

My name is Svetlana and this is my first post! I come from Romania it's a country in Eastern Europe. Do you know Romania and have you ever heard from Bucharest? It's the capital of Romania. That's where I live. My country has a long, sad and bloody history and was a part of the so called Ostblock or Eastern Bloc from 1947 to 1989. Romania was a very poor country but since then many things have changed. And step by step the conditions have become better. Since January of this year Romania is a full member of the European Union and we hope that this will improve our situation in the following years. Soulcast.com is a great possibility for me to tell a lot of people around the world from my country and about the situation in other similar countries. Especially about human rights! In this context I have to say that freedom as the most of you know it is not normal to me!

I hope this will be the beginning of an interesting conversation ...

Best wishes from Bucharest.

Svetlana

I've heard of Romania all my life. You have some great gymnasts. Welcome.

Not only heard of it. Been there. One thing that impressed me the most
was the beauty of the women. Some of the most beautiful creatures God
    ever put on this earth.

I traveled north from Bulgaria across  the bridge over the Blue Danube river  at Russe but it was anything but blue that day. More mud than anything else. the
trip across the river was NOT pleasant as we were held in line for nearly 4 hours
because of Visa problems. We were NOT aware of added requirements at
the time (money). We did get to Bucharest and on to Poleshti ( not sure of the
spelling) we had to go there for a briefing on the "new eastern bloc" oil fields and how they would be impacting the GNP as it pertained to the EU.

We found the food to be wonderful and people were just getting used to
"sharing" after so long. It was a time of "cautious optimism".

I for one am so glad the EU accepted the petition. Our greatest concern was/is that the education system that was fully funded has now become a sad combine of ambitions versus reality (no money).

Please help us to understand more and THANK you so much for..well..we'll discuss that later...SMILES and HUGS..JD

Svetlana, I wanted to address the issue of "human rights" as a separate issue.

The over all view of Human Rights is a very broad spectrum. It is viewed from the aspect of the right to worship as one pleases. Ones right to be safe and secure in his/her person and private properties. We look hard at the issue of child labor laws and fair wages laws. Equal pay for equal jobs are a hue and cry in the
Caribbean Economic Recovery Act. It has been applied to issues in Chile and Ecuador as well ..known as the Andean Recovery. Before we lower barriers of imports and exports to any country we try to insure that the issues of Human Rights have been addressed. In most instances it is just a shuffle of paper work but the intention is there to make things "right"

As far as imports and exports or economic assistance with Balkan countries and up into the Bloc countries we are, unfortunately, tied to the types of materials and manufacturing that is present in each of these countries. The manufacture and export of arms has been a huge issue up until just recently. The US and it's allies are market places for arms as well and it seems we compete with some of the finest made weapons ( small arms) in the world. The Bulgarians have totally re adapted the AK- 74 and now sell it on a world wide market competing with our weapons. As far as Romania is concerned it seems the technological circles are some of the best outputs in the world. Nearly 1/2 the worlds computer virus originate in the tri- country area you occupy with your neighbor to the south.

Please stay in contact..we'd like to get to know more..

Svetlana, i am Italian. Yours and mine are close countries. Members of the EU. I know your country and your history. We have studied them in school and naturally you have a long traditions of music and gymnastic as well.

In Italy we are experiencing in the last 10 years increasing social issues with many of your citizens. Pushed away because of the poverty of your country and lookign for a better life they have found refuge in Italy  to live and work. Unfortunately, the conditions  in which they live here are not the ones most of them were dreaming. The popular feeling now is that violence and crimes have skyroketed since their arrival in Italy. As well as the arrival of citizens from Somalia and Albania, and recently China. Romanians women are moslty found working as housekeeper or elderly assisting at home. I have at least 5 friends who have a Romanian woman working as housekeeper.

I will read more of your blogs. Welcome here at SC, Svetlana.

    Hi copsunited.

What a name ;-). Are you alone? Are you American?

I have read your comments. Thank you very much.

I'm sorry that I haven' t answered yet. But it's not so easy for me to say all the things I feel in English. It's not my mother tongue, you know?

I wish you a wonderful day...

    Best regards from Europe.

Svetlana. Yes, I am American. born and Bred.

As much as I love Europe and some of the magnificent places and
great beauty, I can tell you there is no place I'd rather be.

Take your time in translating to the mother tongue. It is OUR pleasure to see
    your ideas in print.

The Bosnian areas and kosovo areas (most of former Yugoslavia ) is some
of the most beautiful country in the world. The area south, in Bulgaria and next
to the Black sea is equally as beautiful with the exception of the "towns and villages" It seems that poverty has taken up residence.

When you respond again perhaps I can send you an email address as I am
pretty sure you have access to Yahoo.eu.   i can access that as well and
would be delighted to exchange ideas.

One of my best friends is a Dr. PhD, in European Studies and is now published. She is moving to Sophia soon as she is the Dean of that same curriculum.
She was here on a Fulbright Scholarship. I am sure you know of these things. Please contact soonest. thanks..
