If you work from home, do you get dressed in the morning or do you stay in your pj's?

If you do get dressed, why?

If you don't get dressed, why not?

Just curious!
Personally, I think pj's or lounge wear (of some sort) is the way to go. Of course, this only applies if you do not have to leave the house that day.

My dream is to work from home.   (writing)  I would get dressed only to go cash my checks!   Nah, I have found that a couple of days without "getting myself together" puts me in an awful mental funk.

Its 11:32 and here I am still in my pjs. . .please dont judge me (smile).

i work from home and yes, get dressed everyday.

but certainly in a very casual way....

i'm wearing jeans and a sweatshirt today.  i actually have sneakers on because i've had the puppy out for a walk.

in the summer it's great....shorts and a t shirt and bare feet!

one of the perks of working from home is not having to deal with dressing up every day.  i will say though, that having to get dressed for the occasional meetings becomes such a CHORE!!!  i dread those days!

Thanks for the feedback and the mental images (Ed)!
I have to tell you all, it's 2:27 and I'm still in my pj's, so don't judge me either, OK.
They're just so damn comfy and my dogs don't care what I wear so it's all good!!!

I agree with Secret, when I do have to dress up it feels like a chore. It also brings back memories of all the black suits I had to wear; no matter how you change them up it always feels like your in funeral mode (shiver).

Winter; I think it's healthy to get dressed, ya know? Gives you a
    get up and go feeling.

I don't work, but I am home. I get showered and dressed every
morning, even if I am doing nothing.

It's a head thing, being dressed and ready.

    Hey Mobil,

I get where you're coming from; I have days like that when I know I have to go out.
If I don't have to go out it tends to make me feel edgy, like I should be doing something ( but that's just me...).

Know what? I'm all full time college student, and if I'm going to the right class, I just stay in my pjs. Depends on how serious the professor is. I almost always wear them at home, too. It's more comfy.

Now that I live with a family, I get dressed every day, but usually only before I leave my room.  I have a teapot in my room, so I don't have to leave until I get hungry. When I lived alone, I sometimes found myself in pj's all day, especially in the winter or on rainy days.  But I agree with everyone who said that getting dressed is good for your mental health.  Sometimes, I just want to dive into my work or my day's activities without bothering with the routines, but I sure do feel better about myself when I at least throw on a pair of jeans.

Evill: I wish I had been that laid back when I was in university; life would have been great! Ah well, I'm giving it a shot now (better late than never).

Kruu: I hear what you're saying; it probably is better for one's self esteem to get dressed each day. However, it truly depends on your priorities that day.

    Thanks for the feedback!

nothing nothing nothing at home, never anything unless visitors are here even then it's minimal, sarong, swimmers. At work its minimal too I'm in a relaxed and laid back environment so there is never any need to go all out - although that may change when I go for my dream job this week it will be suits every day or at least a dressy frock.
My priority every day is to enjoy the hell out of it, don't get me wrong I love clothes, love dressing up but if you're in a cruisy place then it's a little out of place to be too pristinely attired!

    Hi Lucy,

Sounds like you live in an ideal place; I could go for a tropical local any time!
I wish you luck in your job pursuit, maybe the dress code will relax after a time
    (one can always hope).

Writerspirit I live in the hope that all people I meet can live in this idealistic and creative environment - although we had a storm last night to end all memory of storms, the dam trippled in size and its 85% humidity and 34 degrees, thats about 90 or so for your northern hemispherers.  So snow, a cool breeze even would be welcome today. oh its sooo tough.  Is it winter where you are?
  • writerspirit said on Jan 30, 2007....

    Hi Lucy,

Yes, it's winter here in Calgary, Alberta (Canada). I've made no mystery of where I live; it's all good.

Thursday is supposed to bring snow and I am so not looking forward to that; it's been dry for several weeks now. Thank God for the amount of Sunshine we get here. I think I would go crazy if it were cold and grey at the same time!

I'll trade you places anytime you feel the need to cool down. It's been about +12 degrees the last few days, that would certainly be a change from +34. Ah, one can dream can't they?

Lucy: Winter here, also, in more ways than one.  Wanta' go fishing with me in the Spring?
  • mysterious said on Feb 05, 2007....
For me, it's dress down, just short and shirts normally.  I only dress casually when I have to go out.
  • writerspirit said on Feb 05, 2007....
    Hey mysterious,

Sounds good too; do you live in a wonderfully warm climate or something?

    I'm envious!

Love to wombat, then you can come here and I'll take you big game fishing - how does a spot of marlin sound?

jokes aside the weather crap here, waiting for a cyclone to form so tropical is good and casual but also very dynamic
