I've been too busy with my thesis that I spent several hours in front if the computer everyday. That most likely explain my "short absence" here in SoulCast. How are you people? Well, if you'll ask me I'm not fine. My right hand is aching!!!

Yes, it's from too much "Internet-in." Click. Click. Click. I didn't notice it at first. However, I gradually sensed some uneasiness in my right hand. At first, I didn't mind it. I continued doing my research over the Internet. Several days later, my right hand started to shift from uneasiness to an uncomfortable-ness, and finally it hurts!

I heard of the condition before about putting to much stress on your hand that uses the mouse. Seems like I shouldn't have disregarded it. Ouch. Yes, it hurts a bit when typing. Ouch. Anyway, I did a little research in yahoo! I found out that this "mouse fatigue" is due to improper positioning of the body in relation to the computer. These positions are those where the muscles are stretched (usually the right arm in using the mouse). Thus, with the length of time in using the computer, it can cause stress to that body part. Focusing on the hand which uses the mouse, the stress if caused by those "exact muscles" which we only use when we click. Note. We don't use gross motor skills (such as our whole arm) in sliding, and clicking. Rather, we use our fine motor skills (such as the ones from the wrist to the fingers). Therefore, when these fine motor skills are used over-and-over and in an improper way, they  become stressed. Your formula for muscle pains. The worst outcome of this is that the whole arm will be numb and that an operation might be needed to relieve one of the pain according to one of my professors.

The best way to relieve yourself of the pain is simple, and probably you'd guess it right - as the saying goes, "An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure." So, you (and I) better start examining our positions in the computer area. When worst comes to worst, STOP using your right hand. That's why, I used my left hand. If both starts to ache, JUST STOP IT, I mean stop using the computer. Do something else for the meanwhile. (For me, I'll just have to study for my exams. I just downloaded my thesis research and printed them)

Anyway, this is just a public service announcement to members in SC.

honestly, i prefer to use keyboard shortcuts for everything, rather than use the mouse: i can go a lot faster that way. that of course just leads to different forms of repetitive stress injuries, though.

thesis research? i'd be interested to know what you're studying.
