I know I've ranted about teenagers before but this time my lovely, teenage daughter has been suspended from school. The situation is not serious, she got caught hiding inside @ lunch time when she was told to go outside. The problem is, this is the FOURTH time she's been caught doing the same thing.
So, what does it take to make a teenager actually LEARN from their mistakes?
I know I did some really stupid things @ her age but I swear, if I got caught I did not make the same mistake again! Maybe I was just too smart for my own good.
I just don't know how to get through to her. I've tried explaining that even though you may not agree with the rules you must learn to follow them. School is for learning the rules and life after school teaches you where and when you can break those rules.
Grounding her does no good. So, I've decided to try manual labour. I've given her a number of thoroughly dull tasks to complete and I plan to come up with a few more. Maybe hard labour will convince her she must learn the rules. One can only hope.
Any tried and true remedies out there? Please feel free to impart your wisdom.
