I was watchint a documentary on TV the other day about one of the more recent waves of scientist trying to find the answer to answer all questions. It started out explaining some of the science behind the 'string theories' putting it in words a commoner could understand. It went on to explain that this theory originally used ten dimensions in there calculations but every time they finished one up they had a new equation. They ended up with five related yet slightly different 'string theories' in the proccess.

Before the string theory had obtained the level of so-called success it had at the time another theory to find the same question using almost the same means was discredited by the string theory because it was based on eleven dimensions (the eleventh was there but not really). It turns out that if they calculated the string theory using this eleventh dimension it worked out. The five different theories they had at the time all reduced down to the same root equation. (later to be called the m-theory)

But what does parallel universes have to do with all of this? Turns out that upon calculations using this theory to explain the big bang theory ended up showing that the big bang wasn't just one root explosion but many over a very small period of time. These 'bangs' would have been caused by seperate planes of reality colliding into each other created a new plane which we all live on. It also goes on to explain that there are an infinite amount of these planes which could mean that there are other universes were I am sitting here typing this exact same entry using the exact same language only I have shorter hair, different color eyes, or even the moon is blue instead of white. The possibilities are endless.

So think about it. There just might be a you in another universe who just happened to not do that thing that you regret about in the past and is living how you wanted to. There is a universe where life in on Mars instead of Earth. There is a universe where we are the little green men.

Are you just now catching on to this?

NS: personally, i've encountered the idea before (being a sci-fi fan, i see it often) but i've never understood the math behind it. if you could remember the name of the documentary, that would be really helpful to me.

wombat- I just have never heard it explained so much in depth before.

Silverwhisper- I can't remember the name of the documentary but the link I have up there explains the m-theory.

NobodySpecial-  I am such a smartass commediane.  It was my shorthand way of agreeing with the possibility and trying to be funny.  I didn't realize I sounded like--well--an idiot.  I've had some strange things happen to me is all.  Like absolutely swearing this guy I saw in one place was the same guy I had known for years in another place--only this second one was a few years older.  At the same time, all these people kept arguing with me practically that they knew me, although they couldn't possibly have.  Thought I was in the Twilight Zone.

I know what you mean there. A few years ago I was at some type of carnival. A group of guys approached me calling me by a different name. They thought I was a guy that they apparently wanted to beat the crap out of but nothing happened. I had an ID on me.

Now why didn't I think of that---asking for his I.D.   He was the the quiet local drunk on a barstool, and answered to a name almost identical as the guy I knew, who was an alcoholic.  That whole town and the experiences I had there were bizarre.  The fire trucks (the entire fleet) kept blarring off and going somewhere about five times a day, but there was never a mention of a fire in the paper.  The air felt "funny" like there was a different kind of oxygen.  There is more that I can't get into, but It might be all explained away as the result of those being my "smokin'" days.  You think?

Ah, just my luck to end up in the violent, dysfunctional and uneducated universe.  I wonder what it's like on the other side of town?

we've studied this parallel universe in our one subject. as we all no we only have one universe. obviously it is called uni because it is one. but some scientist theorized that there are other universe and the only way to enter this other universe is through quantum tunneling or by entering a black hole. although this is only a theory but physicists believe that there are other you in other universe. you may be the same but the personality and the state of your personality maybe different and so on with other universe.

but it is impossible to enter the so called the door to other universe - through black hole. when try to enter this hole you may be crushed or compressed because of the strong gravitational attraction of the said hole that even light cannot escape.

although this is only a theory but the geniuses are trying to find out the answer to this questions. and time will tell when will it be answered.
