Lioness's tags:
Whenever you feel that you are overwhelmed by so many things in your life, say a big problem or pressures everywhere, what do you usually do?? With whom?

The other night, my sister suddenly invited me to spend some time with her. Only her.

It meant not tagging her two beautiful kids and husband along. Since she got married, she had less time for herself. Only work and home. That night, she was determined to unwind.

We scheduled it the following night. That was last night. Just like the old times, we dressed-up and went to a bar.

We originally intended to listen to a live band. It didn't push through because the band played only on Fridays and Saturdays. It's okay. We talked.

We had a chance to reminisce the past and talk about girl things. One time, we were so serious. The next, we were laughing like mad.

It's not that we don't see each other every week. We always do. But it's different when you dedicate your time to each other, opening up your thoughts and revealing your plans, listening with your heart.

We went home at around 11 pm feeling exhilirated and refreshed.

I said, "we should do this more often." She agreed.

i love that lioness.  it's hard when you work and have kids to make time for the important relationships.  i'm happy the two of you did.

your family...they're your family.   they stay with you your whole life.  keep close with them....it's important.

my family does the same for me....they refresh me and remind me of the thngs that are most important.

Hi SL, thanks. Yes, it was a rare opportunity, and it was all worth it.

The only family I have now is them, sis and her family, and my brother. It's sad that we are not ideally close to each other (I am close to my sis though), but we are together in one city, and see each other once in a while.

Wow. That was nice. Its a nice thing that you girls can bond once in a while. And yeah, you should do more bonding. :D That was really nice.

Fortunately for me, my sister and I live in the same apartment, so we got to bond once in a while. However there are some things that we do not share the same views. You see I'm the youngest and we have a six-year age gap. Talk about family planning!

I'm real glad that you managed to share such a wonderful time with your sister.

I'll miss my sister though when I move out of her apartment. hehehe :D Her place is a little far from where we work but she doesn't want to move out... Oh well...

I enjoyed such a rare moment dazed, it was brief, but wow, it made a major impact on how I felt about everything, my life, my friends, work, plans, everything.

We have a 3-year gap, and we've been together most of our lives until she decided to get married. Of course, things changed. It was actually our first night out after about 4 years. =)

wow. after 4 years! no wonder you missed each other, since you've been close. I on the other hand is used to being alone because I am the youngest and there were no other kids at the same age bracket as I am growing up, so I grew up with adults, the maid, and the tv, and no playmates. hahah :D  I wasn't allowed to play in the streets either. hmmmp.

though I must admit I am a lot closer to my oldest sister, she shares may kakikayan at kakuriputan, she's 31 by the way. :D When she was a teenager she used to have power trips over us, well that's because my dad gave her a hard time also. But when she got pregnant at the age of 19 and got married at the same year, she kinda mellowed down, and we became best buds after that. Well, she's now separated with her two timing husband! Good riddance.

We had a major bonding moment last new year. :D heheh :D my niece lives with my mom at the moment.

    Inggit ako Lioness ;    )

I would have wanted a sister in my life, I have 3 brothers.  It is cool though.

Infortunately, we are all spread all over the globe, so when we get together on the phone, or the country each reside it is pretty intense.

Friends are very important, but family is really something else!

Lioness, so happy for you!  I wish it was me.  Recently, though, I have become really good friends with another ex-South African lady here in the UK and we have started going for coffee and carrotcake at Starbucks and it is just so nice to "chill out" and speak your soul.

lioness, i just got back from lunch w/ my brother and his new girlfriend. he lives on the other side of the country, so i don't get to see him often. it was good to see him, reminisce and re-connect. it's too easy to lose sight of what's important due to what's immediate, i find.

when pressure comes big-time... I usually do crazy. hehehe... seriously, I'd gear up: jogging pants and a shirt. Then, start jogging/running. I find it relaxing.
  • soulreaver said on Jan 10, 2007....
sorry... the 1st line should have been... I usually GO crazy.

Hi ! Lioness, That is really great. Me quite unlucky in this sense. All my brother and sisters live abroad, can't have a get together in times of pressures.

dazed: Cool. I am sure you learned a lot from your ate's experiences. Being the ate, I used to lead good examples. But there came a time when she had different preferences, sets of friends, hobbies. I let that be. We can't stop changes.

queenP: You're all girls like dazed? Having different age brackets would mean you become super duper flexible in dealing with various age groups, and that is good!

Paper: Wow, you are the only rose among the thorns. I bet you have special privileges back home. Well, I must say it is fun having a sister, even more if you become really close because you get to confide some of your secrets. But hey, having brothers is just as good..

Polar: Being away from your family has its setbacks. I'm glad you found a new friend!

Ed: I know we experienced the same euphoria after the get together.

soulreaver: Hmm... you are the sporty type. Yes, running can ease daily pressures. You get to contemplate while sweating it out.

peedee: spending some time with friends would help too.. If only to temporarily "escape" from pressures.

  • polarheart said on Jan 12, 2007....
Lioness, just interested to know what language you and queen are speaking? I'm a very curious person (sorry). Polar x
  • Lioness said on Jan 12, 2007....
Polar, I hope we are not annoying readers who could not understand. We are speaking in Tagalog, the Philippines' native language. =) We usually mix it with english (call it tag-lish).
  • polarheart said on Jan 13, 2007....
    Hi Lioness

It does not annoy me in the slightest. . .I think its cool to be able to speak to someone else in your native tongue.  I also have a native tongue called Afrikaans, perhaps i should try it out on DanetteB, it is widely spoken in South Africa.

Thanks for satisfying my sense of curiosity! Polar

She is beautiful. She has Blonde and black hair and she is such a princess. She has been home only the last couple of weeks and already is spoiled. I think my husband likes her better than the rest of us.
