several friends have suggested to me in the past that i blog. so here it is, the friday of a holiday weekend (4th of july weekend in the US), as the mrs and i relax after a particularly demanding week. she was watching a movie from our netflix queue that didn't interest me so i figured i'd poke around online for a while, and so here i am.

one of my more significant interests is writing. i write a number of things, both fiction and non-fiction. fiction: mainstream, fantasy (e.g., swords & sorcery-type stuff), sci-fi, erotica and the occasional other thing if it comes to mind, i suppose. non-fiction: i'm working on a fantasy game based upon the d20 game. yes, there is already such a game. i think that it could stand some improvement. yes, that's maybe arrogant. no, i really don't care if it is. all i can say in response is that i see flaws so i like to try to fix 'em.

quick bio:
if you're the sort that likes to know a little bit about the blogger whose random and not-entirely-coherent ramblings you're reading: i'm a US citizen of asian ancestry married to a wonderful caucasian woman. my parents immigrated to the US prior to my birth. politically i'm a moderate liberal with libertarian leanings. i work in manhattan but don't live there. i live in an apartment with my wife and our domestic short-haired cat bogey. as a dear friend of mine first said of herself (and i subscribe to this idea, myself), i refuse to abide by my demographic.

interests:
writing, reading, playing and designing roleplaying games (aka, RPGs), technology, sex, food (or perhaps more accurately, cuisine) and thinking up ways to make my wife happy. although the last is most important, no hierarchy of importance should otherwise be inferred from the sequence of the rest. :>

netflix is very, very cool. unfortunately, b/c my wife doesn't work and i do, the vast majority of the 100 or so items in our queue are things she put there. ah, well... :> ed

Hello silverwhisper, Funny, that I just saw the beginning of your blog now. I am very new here, and the reason I am in soulcast is merely because my sister's blog is here, and then I saw the tag system here, so I did some researches for my study project here also (in relation with eating disorder, food, and obese). However, since I am married, I am interested to see the marriage tags also; so that's why I tumbled into your blog yesterday (if you remember, I commented also). Well, anyway, just out of my curiosity, if you don't mind, how long have you been married? And how many children do you have already? Sorry if this is inappropriate, because rarely I heard (or saw in this case) a man commented how he put his wife as a first priority. I believe many men do that (adore his wife), but to actually put a word to a lot of people, that's rare. Phew...long comment...good to know you.

Hiya Silverwhisper! Just made it to your first post it would seem. I had to laugh at your title :D And then sat and thought about it for a sec and thought about how funny it feels when you find someone writing along similar lines as yourself (occassionally) Anywho.. just saying hi here.
  • silverwhisper said on Aug 16, 2006....
the title made you laugh b/c it's the first three words of the english bible, or b/c you're also a babylon 5 fan? :> thanks for digging so far back! ed

or maybe it comes from this period of my life: [First Man:] I think, I think I am, therefore I am, I think. [Establishment:] Of course you are my bright little star, I've miles And miles Of files Pretty files of your forefather's fruit and now to suit our great computer, You're magnetic ink. [First Man:] I'm more than that, I know I am, at least, I think I must be. [Inner Man:] There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles And piles Of trials With smiles. It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave And keep on thinking free.

silver:  Interesting that your first blog was about gaming.   I'm glad I hadn't gone this far back before.  I would never have asked you the question in the first place.

.... and the rest, as they say, is history! I notice you didn't you capital letters much back then..   :-D
  • silverwhisper said on May 02, 2008....

Hahaha.. So it seems.. another endearing quirk I think.. :-)
When I was a little girl, I once wrote a letter.. a real paper letter I mean.. to my grandfather. This was part of his reply "Once upon a time there lived a young, pretty girl. She was now a big girl but she still felt like she was little so she called herself 'i' instead of 'I'."   I don't think I have missed my capitals too often since then!   :-D

    that's really sweet, diabolic!

it still astonishes me when someone comments to this blog entry, you know?

Thought I'd catch up on the people who have been making me feel at home.  Didn't realize that you're a fellow gamer.  (Go Wolverines!)  Sorry, just had to throw that in there.

Part of Project X is a RPG system, D20 based, that we are working on getting launched in the next 6 months.  I - for obvious reasons - am doing all the background stories, ect.  Even if it doesn't launch in 6 months it'll still be pretty damn amazing!

  • silverwhisper said on Aug 02, 2008....
pathfinder: a project by several formerly d20 publishers to take d20 to the next level. it's available for sale online, IIRC. :>
