  I've been away for a few days and I noticed this when I logged on this morning.  I don't think it was always this hostile because I got a warm welcome.  Occasionally there are a few off colored comments and disputes but I've always seen them resolve themselves on their own.  I think because this is an uncensored site, I think they are going to let this ride.  I personally think this is a great place to write and connect with others.  There are a lot of very intelligent, caring, and helpful people here.
  
  My approach to this site in the beginning was to read for a while and watch the dynamics.  I picked up on the friendships and posted a few topics, then saw if anyone would comment.  I would then start reading those who commented.  In my opinion, I took the easy road.  But I also don't have the battles.  'm not here to fight or be involved in drama.
  
  Everybody has always had very insightful things to say and I prefer to continue reading everyone.  I'm choosing not to pick up a weapon and engage.

  Think of Soulcast as a free shrink.  The anonymous aspect of it lets you get all your deep thoughts out without having to "face the music" when you get home.  It beats the hell out of telling your Best Friend, or paying $175 an hour to a pro who spends his/her time doodling on a pad.
  
  Let it all hang out: hostility, curiosity, angst, secret sexual desires -- we all have 'em.  This is the place to share them.
  
  We THINK we're thinking in words, but we're not.  Our thoughts are symbology and other weird things that go bump in the night.  These thoughts have no handles to grab ... UNTIL YOU HAVE TO CONVERT THEM TO WORDS in order to get them across to someone else.  Surprisingly often, the mere relating of these thoughts present their own answers ... now that they have handles.

  I'm really sorry you picked this time to find SoulCast.  It used to be a fun place to blog and most people got along well and there were lots of friendships made.  A couple of weeks ago GumpyJumpTooth got into a feud with copsunited.  I don't know who started it or what it was about, but you're free to go read old posts to find out if you like. 
   
  Gumpy also was nasty to one of the "Old Guard" at SC - Zayda.  Zayda is a friend of silverwhisper who has been one of the most widely read and respected members of SC.  In an attempt to diffuse the feud brewing between Gumpy and Zayda, secretlife, another widely read and respected member of SC posted a comment on Gumpy's blog asking him to drop it.  She asked that the comment be deleted after Gumpy had read it.  Whether it was to tell Gumpy she understood some of his point of view or what, I don't know, but secretlife made some comments that were unflattering to Zayda.  Gumpy did not delete the comment.  He left it there.  Silverwhisper read the comment and the unkind things it said about his friend and was incensed.  Out of revenge, he tried to get back at secretlife by attacking her viciously.  The result has been to split SoulCast in two.  Secretlife and silverwhisper are probably the two most read members of SoulCast. 
   
  So now many members, especially those how have been around SoulCast for more than a month or two are torn between SoulCast's two most popular members.  It's not pretty.

  Yes, there's a lot of drama going on lately.

  Most of what I had in mind to say has been said. Early on I got into an altercation with GumpyJumptooth. But the issue was resolved and we get along now. He does have strong opinions and anyone who starts a response with, "Are you stupid?" or something insulting sets him off. That's how the whole cops vs Gumpy episode got started. Now copsunited has been nasty to me because I get along with Gumpy and I never had anything against cops in the first place. People are posting angry and hateful entries now about the people who pissed them off. I have been on SC since the end of May and I have never seen things get this out of hand. And all because of two men who got into a squabble over civilities.
   
  Previously though, during the summer, there was high drama here when one of our most-read bloggers was stalked by two teenagers in his town who knew who he was by what he posted. They insulted him harshly on his blog and when he was in hospital with an illness they sent him black roses and a death wish. The police were involved and it was like a TV show.
   
  So, I guess you can expect to find drama here from time to time. Anyway, don't get involved in the fights. I have had a hard time biting my tongue because many people I like are now feuding and like I said, one guy is even attacking me now. Just treat this as a place for making friends, exchanging ideas, and therapy if you need it.

  magpye, this is most certainly not the norm around here. there was a lot that happened, and everyone should form their own opinions of it if they're interested in knowing what happened.
  
  however, i will suggest that you simply ignore it. it shouldn't affect you. i don't accept that people should choose a "side", for whatever that's worth, nor do i think that anyone who's new to soulcast should.

  There is no problem here magpye, we are just a reflection of reality! I'm sorry, but any site that is just hugs and kisses is suspect. Look around, conflict is part of your life and mine, your family and mine, your spouse and mine, your friends and mine.  Do you love them any less?  We are all still here, are we not?  Welcome aboard!

  Welcome Magpye. Don't let the discussions bother you or get to you. Like it's been suggested...ignore it and don't take sides. This storm...just like any other.. will pass. 
  Actually this is a great place to put up a blogg and read other people's bloggs. Don't think you'll make money here with blogging like it advertises... but you can meet lot's of interesting people and read plenty interesting bloggs.
  And like any other place you'll find some people in conflict here but that's normal anywhere.

  We all get along and yes there is a feud but no one should take sides.  I got into it with Gumpy because of how I was treated by him in his post.  I don't expect people to choose sides and if someone is friends with Gumpy it doesn't bother me.  I like everyone and unless I am personally attacked I am a nice person.  Come on in and don't be afraid.  Other than Gumpy everyone else is nice.  You might even be a friend to Gumpy, there are a few here that he is nice to.  The battle is between Gumpy, Cops and myself.  Decide for yourself and don't take peoples opinions as Gospel.   Magpye, yes ...it must be quite disorienting enter this site and find all this big mess splashed all over the place...but this ugliness started only few weeks ago...and it will pass in few weeks...or at least many of us hope so...

  Dont be scared...the majority of the peoep here is great people, with bright ideaa  and lot of compassion...we laugh and we cry together, a lot of true friendships are born here and respect is the norm..

  so please, go around and read what you find interesting...write with no fear....we will read with interest...:-).

  Welcome to Weenieville my friend. There is a lot of stupid crap going on around here right now, but that is not too unual. As some have said, that happens most of the time. Ignore it and it will go away. Remember, everyone is actually anonymous around here. Why, two people could be fighting and it might be that they are actually just one person. Or one of them might actually be a third person taking a new ID. Or someone being stalked could actually be stalking themselves. All for the sake of attention. You never know. Anything is possible in a world where no faces can be seen. In a world where some think all is fair in love and blogging.

Of the long list of respondees above this, those with whom I've traded comments have been fine people, and I not only respect them, I cherish them. They occupy land on both sides of the divide that has lately developed.   I am new to SC too, and I've noticed some of this hullabaloo going on, but I choose not to get involved. The people involved have chosen to have a good go at each other and that's their choice, so long as they dont drag other unrelated parties into it - let them get it all out.

  Anyway, I am just ignoring it and enjoying reading and commenting on things relevant or interesting to me.

  I've only been here 4 a short period of time but I find this to be a great site full of ideas, and thoughts,with lots of interaction and expression.   P.S. Dude everybody has drama, u can navigate around it or pick a side and make a stand. But here u have a "CHOICE"!

  If you really want to understand what's been going on, go to copsunited's and and gumpyjumptooth's past posts. I would start with GJT's and read his posts on Why Men and Women will Never Be Equal and On Douchebags who Climb Mountains. You'll see how things got started anyway. The difference between the two bloggers is, that if Cops disagrees with you he'll say it straight out with an FU. GJT will write a dissertation on how dumb you are. I srongly suspect that Cops and Mom are just having fun with GJT and he is taking them way too seriously. Good luck and welcome. PP

  Well, I am new here too and now I am leaving.  I come to this place for an outlet of thoughts and perhaps a little communion with people and in one post, after one comment someone ruined it for me.
  
  I am posting on my blog my farewell to those who know me, even though there are only a few.
  
  I hope that it doesn't detour anyone, but it sure has me.

  Light, please don't let that one incident upset you. It suprises me how many people side with that person; I finally read some of his posts yesterday and he seems just as mean-spirited and foul-mouthed as those he maligns, if not more. I didn't think you did anything to incur that reaction. Some people hate the idea that anyone disagrees with them, and their defense is to immediately attack. Please don't let him get to you...
