Here is a link to an old MGM cartoon from 1939 titled "Peace on Earth".

It depicts a post-apocalyptic world where man destroys himself by warfare, and the world populated and rebuilt by animals.  A pretty heavy topic for a cartoon, but it was the first cartoon(made by MGM) to be nominated for an Academy Award, the first short subject to be awarded the Parents Magazine medal, and the first and only cartoon to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.  It was remade in 1955 as "Good Will to Men".

Watch and enjoy.

I'm off to work now.

I LOVED this, Grape!  If you know of any other sites on the web to watch great classic cartoons like this, please let us know!  They're my favorite.  Thank you.

Sure thing kruuyai.  Here's a good link(need realplayer)

If you google "classic cartoons" or "vintage cartoons", you get some good results as well.

Google "banned cartoons" and you get some real gems from the 30's and the 40's.  Mostly WWII era stuff.

    Enjoy,

    Grape.

That's so funny... the first link has cartoons that I already have on DVD... I got them for a buck each at Walmart, and was really delighted at the little surprises they have in them.  Glad to see this stuff is making a comeback.
