My second son ended up coming home from school with a case of head lice last month. They found two nits on his head. So we shaved his head to about 1" and did the two treatments. I washed all his bedding, hats, scarves, tuqs, everything I could think of (except for this damn hoodie thing he didn't take off until well after I realized!!). He still seemed to have them. I had him vinegar his head every night and I'd comb through it every second night.
Then his dad comes home again. JS had just came back from his dad's when they diagnosed him the first time. So anyways, before he goes I make sure to explain to dad THREE FUCKING TIMES that he needed to get the treatment again, to vinegar his hair every night and comb thru every second or third to be sure they were gone. AND he had to wash all the bedding and scarves, etc. to be sure they were gone.
After they left, I said to DH, "I bet he comes home with a roaring case of them again."
I hate being right.
Today, after a week with his dad, JS comes home again. I ask what they did with his hair. Oh, they didn't get a treatment kit and they didn't comb it. But they did have him spray vinegar water on his head and shower every night....
I spray his head with vinegar and let it sit for 20 minutes to release the "glue" on anything that might be in his head. We stand at the sink and I start combing through. Instead of finding none or one or two, I find about THIRTY or so. HOW FREAKING DISGUSTING!!!
So now he's got 1 centimeter of hair left and we're going to get another treatment kit tomorrow. I went through JJ's hair and, guess what? He's got them too. We've shaved his head to the 1" and will do all the treatment for him too. Now I have to wash ALL of their bedding, tuqs, hats, hoodies, scarves, blah blah blah just because dad WAS TOO DAMN LAZY TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
