I have this overwhelming desire to earn in dollars while at the same time just stay in the Philippines.
Like, earn in US dollars and spend in Philippine pesos.
So I had this bright idea of applying for a job as a 'Call Center Agent'. There's just one problem though, I speak English just like Marites.

    Lol, I hear you man.

It kinda sucks, really, that the education we get from many parts of our country is totally sub par when it comes to English, especially the speaking part.

    much respect,

paidinblood, I understand one has to undergo some training first, before he/she gets hired as a call center agent. The trainee gets to learn about the nuances and the accents of American English.
    :)

Ormocanon, there are actually people who find it natural to speak with those "nuances and accents of American English", especially people who grew up with Americans; but then few people get that chance, especially when you're here in the Philippines.

I don't know about the flag, maybe he's trying to say something, or he's only seen the flag shown vertically.

I want to apply... Let me rephrase that, I applied to a lot of call centers here. I speak English real well (thanks, in no small part, to my education in a private school... Panama's public system sucks), but I can't get a job... because I'm a minor!

Damn. And I really want the money :P

Actually, I can get a job... they just won't give it to me... they're like afraid of hiring someone underage...

Dude, so like how old are you?  So if it's just a year, well it's not that hard to wait.. Just get proactive and you'll see time fly out of the window.

justop, you mean to say you're in Panama right now? If so, well, I'm not too familiar about the way things work over there.
I was referring to call centers based in the Philippines. Over here, they train you first, then hire you. The Philippine government provides free training in partnership with private firms, as long as you finish the course.
