  • PAPERBACKWRITER said on Dec 19, 2006....
Thanks cops *muaaahhh*!!! kisses to you too doyoulikeme!!!

Hope my girls here in SC are not yet about...it´s 10 past 3 am here ~blush~

It happened Saturday night, my hubby surfed on an "adult" page....he has my blessings (raising one eyebrow)....and Sunday morning before we trudged our way to church, I went online and was bombarded with "pink pussies" --- and they were no kittens!  =   (

Arrrghhh....it is frustrating but I have disabled some features of my comp so this messages and adverts will not keep on popping out....And downloaded a free virus protective software (err, might that me a mistake?).  I already have Firewall....I am working on WindowsXP

I´ll try to retrack...and give a detailed recount later tonight cops!  Truly appreciate it!!!

The thing is, my new laptop is my godmothers (real ones here) Christmas present for me.  It is quiet dear, and I am so ever fearful of ruining it, and totally disappointing them.

Thanks so much for coming to the rescue cops & doyoulikeme!

That always happen specially when you surf on an ADULT site.
Once you viewed their page, and when you browse the internet, those popups will come out.

    Those are scams...
It's not actually telling your laptop has a virus rather provoking you to purchase their software.
But I tell you, it's really a scam.
It'll only make your laptop worst.
In contrary to what they say.
Installing those softwares will create spyware that'll track your accounts specially bank accounts, paypal, etc.
    Beware of it!

    Precautionary measure:
Do not ever ever click those pop-ups. Just close them.

Hi PAPERBACKWRITER, I have just stumbled across this site

by accident an read your blogg. My son used my pc to go on to an

adult site and excactly the same thing happened to me. I have

deleted the programme an now have a firewall blocking it. I would

be really interested to know if the pop ups are urging you to buy

    a product called virusburst.

yeah yeah yeah...still up....go to my shrink after the holidays and ask her to take me off my meds...

Thanks for taking time out to post a comment mr_right14!

    I thought as much!!
How do I get rid of the pop outs, which is my main concern because my girls are using the comp.  And they are way under-age.

And, if I have not disabled some features of my comp, I will be spending 75% of my on-line time closing windows of pop outs or the blurb telling me I´m utterly doomed because of my infected files and that my data -personal ones, are for all the world to see....creeeeepy, I tell you!

Again, thanks for taking time....I would have welcomed you in a much lighter circumstances

Hello missie-dj!!! WELCOME to SoulCast! *beaming*

As I´ve told mir_right14, I would have welcomed you in a much cheerier blog than this one....

Yeah, I read that one too. But that is when I just started closing the windows and not caring anymore, what is in it.

After having to read this nuisance for almost 3 days, I just didn´t care anymore about the virus...well on the second  day I wanted to buy the friggin software just to end my misery.

Those pop outs - Virus protect and clean up software products were hardcore selling.

The question remainshow do I get rid of these pesky pop-outs?!

Happy Holiday!  I wish you fun here in SoulCast, and lots of discoveries!

    Paper....yes please call me Paper....

    P.S.
Is it because I´m across the pond?  How come the most interesting people lives in a different time zone

It is a scam paper.  Your yahoo messenger comes with a program called anti-spy.  it's an icon tht sort of looks like a bullseye.  you can block pop ups using it or run it to find and get rid of adware or malware....
  • xerendipity said on Dec 20, 2006....
Well to blocked those pop-ups, here's the step:

    For those using windows XP

    1. Go to your Internet explorer browser
    2. Click "TOOLS"
    3. Click "Pop-up blocker"
    4. Click "Turn-on Pop-up blocker"
    5. Done!

After that, when surfing the net, u will receive a message after every item something is blocked while opening a web.

    Hope this helps...

Hi paper.  It's been a while.  I've been AFK for a few days(Has it been a week already?)  I'll tell you why on a blog later maybe.

As to your little problem, I would like to suggest "Spybot S&D".  It's a free program that scans your system for adware and malware and such.  Download it and run it.  It'll give you a diagnosis of what's wrong with your comp.  It's pretty good.  Just Google Spybot S&D and good luck!

    Warmest regards,

    Grape.
  • Ormocanon said on Dec 20, 2006....
grape's right paper. I had the same problem couple of years ago, then a friend suggested I use Spybot S&D and voila! my problem with "about blank" and other spyware disappeared.
Do check out Lavasoft's Ad-Aware SE Personal anti-spyware, too,  if you want, its also free of charge..
  • Ormocanon said on Dec 20, 2006....
By the way, I also use firefox often, so I don't have a problem with pop-ups.
  • CreativeWoman said on Dec 20, 2006....
I use the free version of Spyware Doctor which I downloaded from the net.  It keeps those nasty things at bay.  I also use Firefox for my browser and it is wonderful.

You can also download the Google toolbar or Yahoo toolbar for free and they will block pop-ups.

Before you do anything though, it might be just as simple to do a system restore on your computer resetting it to the date before all this started happening.  It's worked for me in the past.

    Good luck.

Hey, are you new in SoulCast?  Hope you had a wonderful Christmas...Happy New YEAR!!! I´ll check after this comment...

I hated being ignored, or it made me sad - it was how I felt as I was new here...or as soon as I understood, that there is interaction!  I thought in the beginning, I will write and I will be silently read, lol!

But, as I started understanding SoulCast, it made me sad to see 0 Comments in blogs.  Not only on my blog but by others too!

Later on as I was longer here, I realize there are many reason, why sometimes, bloggers cannot respond all the time.

My excuse is personal:  I was procrastinating.  I hated to deal with this problem.  It was more convenient to just click pop outs - although at times nerve-wracking - than deal with it.

I hope with all your suggestions, I could find the solution, which would give me pop out free days!!!

Thanks again for coming to the rescue, guys!!!
