Living life the vegan way is really no different than living life any other way. I get up in the morning, take care of my son, make a nice smoothie for breakfast (not so unusual), tend to my garden for a few minutes, go to work at home (like so many other moms in the world), take a mid-day break to school my 4-year-old and do lunch, finish working, do some schoolwork, and then make dinner and spend-time with my family. I finish my day with a little bit of last minute work or school business and go to bed. The only difference between myself and a nonvegan is what I cook for my meals. So my smoothie has vegan protein powder in (soy and hemp protein), and my lunch is probably a peanut butter and banana sandwich or some leftovers from the night before, dinner consists of mostly veggies with beans, rice, pasta, or bread. So why would someone call me a freak? More than likely lack of understanding. People do not like those that are different from them. My mother gets annoyed everytime I don't eat beef or pork, my brother is afraid that veganism is contagious (i.e., I'll influence his wife to take away his meat). I am living my life, not trying to tell others how to live their lives, so maybe others should stop judging the way I live mine. Anyway, just had to get that off of my chest:)
