I was wondering when the atheist minority were going to finally have their way. Actually, it amazes me that the celebration of Christmas has gone on as long as it has. But, the times, they are a-changing. 'Merry Christmas', has been replaced by 'Happy Holidays'; it's not a 'Christmas' tree any longer, it's a 'Holiday' tree. What next...is Santa Claus going to be outed as an actual saint in the Catholic canon (born circa 270 a.d. in what is now southern Turkey, died on December 6, 343 a.d.), and forever be removed from store windows, Mercedes ads, and Coke cans? At what point will the ACLU force the White House to give up its annual tradition of Christmas decorations and tree lighting?
Actually, the reality is...Christmas is basically a pagan celebration and as a Bible believing Christian, I have no great love for the way it's been promoted and commercialized (in reality, Jesus was probably born in early Autumn). And I can only wonder how many in the so-called 'Christian nation' of America truly stop to ponder what the true reason for this season is. Doubtless, the same radicals who are beating the 'politically incorrect' drum, protesting nativity scenes and any other reference to the birth of our Savior are the same ones who would be offended if there was nothing under the 'holiday' tree with their name on the tag.
And speaking of atheists...do they realize that every time they write the date, they're actually acknowledging that something of unprecedented historic magnitude occurred a little more than 2,000 years ago?
Imagine that.
