Liberals blame conservatives for ruining the country. Conservatives blame liberals for ruining the country. I blame both and the moderates who let it happen. Moderates in America are often people who don't let their views be shaped by what the right is saying or what the left is saying. They let their views be shaped by what they feel is right for this country. My question to you is why don't we see more of them in power? Why do moderate politicians sit back and let the radicals on both ends fight it out rarely putting in what they see as the right way to move the country? Last and not least, why do American voters feel inclined to vote for one party or another when their views aren't truly being represented?

we don't see moderates in power b/c it's only the extremists at either end who have the money, IMHO. it isn't that moderates are at fault for selecting political hacks that are extremists: it's that the parties are too scared to give the job to a true moderate, i think.

If you have not heard about a new third party being formed with its goal of putting a moderate in the White House in 08 visit this website,   www.unity08.com     I think you might find it interesting even if you don't agree with them.

Hi NS, Most politicians and those that vote for them, are guided by their unwavering ideologies. At present 32% of the voters vote conservative, 21% liberal, and 40 something percent are moderates. Among those moderates 65% vote conservative. These statistics show that most of the country votes conservative.  But, as you know many conservatives lost their jobs last November and a liberal party was put into the majority. You see NS this could not have occured without those moderates flexing their muscle.

Same reason you don't see more Taoists: when you don't evangelize, you tend to not do as well.

NS: These times are a changin. This last election has given me renewed hope people are moving away from party labels. I hope the Unity08 movement can keep this trend growing. I for one am a moderate indpendent and hope to stay that way the rest of my life. This Barak Obama may be the one to lead this charge to moderation. I am not sold on him yet he doesn't have much experience and I need to hear more from him. The lack of experience may be a good thing, considering what experienced politicians have got us into.
