This time of year, many of us enjoy going on Holiday House Tours...welcome to Trinity Glen Fiddich, the home of the Mamie Family.
You can find parking at the bottom of the driveway, or drive up the hill and park at the top. The views of the countryside are gorgeous! We don't have too many neighbors and I can only see two other homes from the window as I watch for your car to arrive...
I am so glad you could stop by! Come on in by stepping over the mat that has a shamrock on it and the letters: "TGF".... and let's share a moment. The walkway up to the front door is a little steep so we can laugh and hug in the foyer as I take your coat and you catch your breath. Merry Christmas, Friends! The stairway to the "upstairs" is just on your right and has lighted garlands and every so often, I have tied a pretty red bow. But we will get to that a little later.
In the foyer, I have a big grandfather clock. There are greens spilling over the top and a tiny lit tree is on the table beside it. I have a leather bench with some French motif pillows strewn along the back. The room in front of you is the Living Room. There's a big cream colored sectional sofa with about 10 gold colored pillows along its gentle curve. Its back is to the front door and it forms a kind of conversation pit looking out a big palladium window. I have Byers Carolers in the window sill. Each has been given to me as a gift, mostly from my mom and there is a white wooden front door and an (electric) street lamp to help create the scene. There is even a dog caroler! Oh, and there is a large tapestry on the wall picturing a peacock.
Walk down the hallway with me and you will enter the heart of my home. This is the kitchen and it is a seafoam green with deep brown oak cabinets. The island and counters are a terra cotta colored tile and I have snacks ready for you on the island! There are a bunch of roosters, big and small, throughout my kitchen. The big wooden one on the island is sitting on the stove there and he has a chalkboard where I have written "Welcome Soulcasters, Merry Christmas!"
The kitchen is open to the Family Room. It has gold walls and black sofas. There is an 8 foot tall PINK Christmas tree in the far corner. We have purchased and wrapped some presents already and it is driving my daughter crazy trying to guess what is inside the packages! There is a fire place and there are four heavy, gold angels holding our stockings, one for each of us and one for my dog. From what I have heard, we will need to add another stocking for my daughter's boyfriend. I like that idea. He is a great guy. There is a wet bar, so check with my husband because he is serving a signature drink, called the "soulcaster". Be careful, it will knock you on your ass. I will put yours in a pretty party glass.
Behind the kitchen, there is the dining room. Because I like you... I have purchased food for us instead of cooking it. We will be so busy talking that I won't have time to cook anyway. But do not worry, I have only healthy foods for us, after what we have been through, I know too much about trans fats, high glycemic carbs and cholesterol. People either love or hate my decor in there. I painted the bottom of the walls a dark terra cotta color and the top of the walls are light green. I have a small oval table and wrought iron chairs. I love topiaries and they are all over the place! I have a set of four topiary plates on a wrought iron hanger. There is a bakers rack with greens along the top rungs. There is a hutch with topiaries and Christmas plates on it. The plates are pretty with green lattice around the outside and a tree in the middle of each. My in-laws gave me these dishes over the years. I have ditched the in-laws and kept the dishes!
Also on this first floor is our Master Bedroom. I have a light colored wood sleigh bed and the covers are burgundy. I think I must have a "thing" about not having blankets as a small girl, because I have many blankets in this room and they are ALL burgundy. There is a velvet one with gold trim. There is a romantic cream quilt with tiny burgundy flowers embroidered on it. I guess I like the convenience of a first floor master, but I am not that keen on people wandering into my bedroom all the time. They do this by mistake when they are looking for a powder room (it is back by the kitchen if you need it).:))
By the back door there is a tiny passage way to the garage. I call it the garden room and I have brown wicker furniture in there. I have decorated the garden room with these bright green cloths and pillows trimmed with big red balls. These were my grandmothers. The wall paper has ivy all over it and the curtains are white. It is peaceful in there.
Let's take a peek upstairs...there is daughters room, which is pink, pink, pink. We think we are funny so we have a strand of white lights hung along the top of her curtain rod. It just feels right. She has a white iron bed and a white entertainment center. In the center of the floor (if you can see through her junk) there is a small flowered area rug. I can never see that rug but we might today since I told her you were all coming over.
There are two other bedrooms up there. Each has been dubbed the junk room at one time or another but today you would think I was a bed and breakfast business! I have a nice book on each night stand and you would never guess that the furniture is all hand me downs. I have Christmas soaps by each sink and pretty holiday towels on each rack. If you look closely in the "blue" bedroom, you will see the tracks from the ironing board. It has been up standing up in there for about three years until I cleaned for this party!!
Back down stairs we can have another "soulcaster" and then about 4 in the afternoon, you will see the deer come. We have about 9 and if we sneak over to the palladium window you can watch them play with each other. We have seen the same buck for a couple of years. We know it is him, because he has only one antler. There are a few does and a few babies each year. I talk to them and sometimes I throw them apples. Especially when we have too much snow.
Soon after we moved here, we were enjoying a drink with glenfiddich scotch. We read on the label that it means "valley of the deer". I didn't really like the drink to tell the truth, but I liked the sound of it. It is peaceful here and we are surrounded by other people's farm land or meadows, which is nice because we get the pretty view without paying the taxes. It did not take me long to realize that we are hugely blessed to be here and that it reminded me of the power and awesomeness of the Holy Spirit. Even our house number has a Holy Spirit vibe to it.
So, that is how we named our home....nobody knows we call it this but us and now, you.
"Trinity Glen Fiddich"...the Valley of the Holy Spirit and the Deer.
Thanks for stopping over....((((hugs))))....I love you guys!! Happy Holidays!
