Having the opportunity to work outside my country of res, I grabed it so fast i did not even think twice. I mean this is a great opportunity, one a most ppl will never have. Now I have come to see what I have left behind. But is leaving your family and friends behind for a job worth it. Does money make up for the emptyness? How does one deal with the emotion of being alone all the time. Yes there is the part of having no attachments, but in the end is it worth it?

Well, you should try to make new friends. Hopefully your move was for financial gain, which would enable you to visit your folks often?

    Hi, XP.

Feeling homesick is normal for some time after relocation.

I felt the same way once when I was away from home for 4 years!

People age a little bit when you get back; but, while not encouraging you to sever connections with home, once you settle in you'll find a lot to occupy yourself more and more.

I definitely ran up huge monthly telephone bills, but it was worth it! Take care.

oh the phone bill is already high ...
but it worth it ... just to hear the peoples voices are reasuring

I say give it a chance.  If after a year you're still miserable, I'd think about making a change.  I don't know that money is the only consideration.  it depends on you and what's important to you ultimately.

i've made many decsions based upon being home for my children.  i might not make the most money, but i have a value placed on my presence at home that makes this decision worthwhile to me.

    good luck!

I think as you make more new friends, you will be happier.  No?  Maybe enroll in a French class.  You'll surely make connections there with people in similar situations.

    Bets of luck to you.

Ek sal enige tyd oorsee gaan - enige tyd.  Solank ek 'n werspermit het sal ek NOU my tassies gaan pak!
Sterkte!
    Weereens, baie sterkte!
