you know, i don't mind getting catalogs all that much. i view it as useful research for gift ideas. but what i resent is getting catalogs addressed to family members who've never lived at my address. we routinely get more stuff for our siblings and parents. heck, at one point, we got stuff for one of her cousins, IIRC.

what's confusing though is that we've never bought things from these businesses, nor--to the best of our knowledge--have we ever gotten gifts from those family members from these businesses.

does anyone else have this happen? or am i just weird in this regard?

Everyday the catalogs pile up. Dog food/flea catalogs. Buy now and save 1/2 of one percent for a life time. New life vitamines. I am getting callse and literature concerning my investment potentials in Canada..gold, oil, gas, Texas mining and machines, Mississippi..natural gas..fuck..i got enough natural gas to fuel the state of Michigan for a month...

    Oh well

    Hey Ed,

I have 5 brand new catalogs, just today.  I have a severe problem getting RID of them!!!  I love them.  My Husband is going to start using them in the fireplace!  That's okay if he does, I don't mind.  As long as I'm not the one to part with them, fine with me, lol!

Maybe your family members use your address??  humm....

ed, sometimes in catalogs there a place on the order form where it asks you if you want to send a catalog to a friend. I've seen it on online order forms too. I had a friend who signed her dear ex up for every catalog she could find. I love catalogs. I get at least 2 or 3 a day in the mail.

Ed-We have this happen all the time. My last name happens to be hyphenated. And well, imagine this: I get catalogues with my full hypenated last name on them and then the same catalogues with each of the individual parts of my last name on them. So, typically, I get three versions of the same catalogue.

Oh, and I love how some companies send out their Holiday 200X catalog and a week later the same catalogue with a different cover on it arrives. I think I had at one time 12 copies of the VS catalogue sitting on my table--4 versions of the catalogue addressed to me in three different versions of my last name.

In the last 4 weeks, I have gotten 9 copies of the Swiss Colony catalogue. I'm thinking of having a bon fire in the back yard. Would you and Mrs. Silver like to bring your catalogues for the burning festivies?

mimi: but...i don't like any of these catalogs! [grinch]

super z: good god but that's insane. and i'm thinking the 26th is an ideal day for such a fire, don't you? :>

I hate junk mail and I class unrequested catalogues amongst that. They go straight into the recycling.

My sister lived here for some time and signed up for all manner of things and it was intensely irritating after she'd moved out to still be receiving her mail and she simplu signed up at her new address. Eventually I had to registering her name at our address with the mailing preference service to get it stopped.

Z, I'll box up all mine and send them to you. I get them, but I think they multiply when nobody's watching.

Ohhh...we can have a bonfire on the 26th of catalogues and all that wrapping paper. But...hm...maybe we can wait until after the New Year as I will be in the South and too far away from you and MissMimi to have either of you join for the bonfire.
  • copsunited said on Dec 04, 2006....
All you lovely ladies..can I visit you in the South??
  • Zayda said on Dec 04, 2006....
JD--You flatterer you. I don't live in the South and, neither, I think does MissMimi. I shall just be traveling to the South for family gatherings for the holidays, well this year. Next year, I think it's out west for us.

But you are more than welcome to join us for a catalogue bon fire. :)

    mimi: egads, the suckers multiply?!

super z: that sounds like a plan. :D
