Hoping for it to snow soon
Ah, winter. That time of year when I spend restless evenings furiously updating the local radar.
For those of you who were not previously aware, I am a huge fan of snow (and, for that matter, any other form of winter accumulation.) For those who do not share my passion, I only ask that you take a few walks outside after a fresh snow and see what it does to you. (Note that I say walk, as driving in the stuff isn’t great fun.)
I live in the Washington, DC region, which has gone a long way towards developing my love for winter weather. There’s enough of it so that I can enjoy it, but there’s not too much that it becomes a standard event. We get about eight snowstorms a year, and I enjoy each and every one of them.
Currently, we’ve been in the midst of a warm streak, which doesn’t help my cause. Precipitation is expected soon, but, with lows only near 45 or so, the region is nowhere close to seeing early-season snowfall. Next Tuesday, there’s a chance that snow will fall, even if it’s mixed with rain at first. Highs will be around 45, with lows of 25. As long as the system continues into (or starts in) the night, accumulation will probably consist of snow or sleet.
Until then, I’m nervously checking updated forecasts. I’ll update you if we end up seeing some white stuff on the ground!

We had a winter weather advisory going on and the roads were really slick this morning. But, as with anything, there was a pretty side to it. I snapped a photo that I thought I would share with you.

This is the view from my back porch...
I can remember two times when things happened in the snow that I can not explain. The first time was in the hills of Calistoga. I had gone for a nature hike when it started to snow. I tried to build a fire with leaves, and twigs, but my matches got wet a...
