MissMimi's tags:
So, despite my bad attitude, the wedding shower really was a lot of fun.  Gather 35 or so women together, feed them cake and wine, and you have a party.  The management of the party center even requires that you hire security, usually an off-duty cop, if you serve alcohol.  I was kind of hoping he was dressed in his costume, and he was a male stripper, but no such luck.

At every shower I have ever attended, all the guests are asked to participate in a few silly games.  The one I found the most interesting was one where the guest had to make three statements about themselves, only two of which are true, and the other guests have to decide which one is the lie.  I found out a couple of neat things about my older sister:  she once snuck into a Frank Sinatra concert with her boss, and she once got to meet Mick Jagger at a Rolling Stones concert.

I chose not to play, but I did choose three statements about myself :  I went to high school with Jim Tressel who is Ohio State's football coach, I slept with a stuffed bunny until I was 11 years old, and I write erotica.  That last one made me laugh, but I never would have used it because I didn't want to embarrass the bride-to-be or her mother, and because there were a couple children at the party.  I whispered to my youngest sister (she knows I write erotica) my statements and she said, "Oh do it!  I'd love the see the look on their faces!"  As much as I like to tweak someone's sense of propriety, I really thought discretion was the better part of valor.

So which one do you think is the fib?  And if you like, give me three of yours.

i don't know about anybody else, don't know squat about the football coach, so i'm guessing the bunny is the fib.

    for me:
    1. i have discovered a possible erotic use for a plastic 20 oz diet coke bottle.
    2. i failed my driver's test three times before finally passing it.
    3. i went 2 whole days w/out having turkey after thanksgiving.
    ed
  • lioneljay said on Nov 27, 2006....
Mimi, I'm guessing that the bunny is the misdirector here. SW, seems to me that you posted somewhere recently about having turkey for the first time so I'm guessing that your misdirector was the driving test item.

    OK, my turn:

    1) I went to college with Bryant Gumbel.
    2) I once appeared on television as an investment advisor.
    3) I once skied down Tuckerman's Ravine on Mt. Washington on the fourth of July.
  • MissMimi said on Nov 27, 2006....
SW - got it right the first try!  That little bit of trivia about Jim Tressel impresses a lot of people around here because this is Buckeye country.

I'm going to guess that number 2 is the fib.  If anybody can find an erotic use for an empty diet Coke bottle, it would be you, ed. :D
  • MissMimi said on Nov 27, 2006....
Hmmm, LJ, those are tough.  I can see you doing all three.  This is just a stab in the dark (which can be fun, depending on who's stabbing what), but I'm going to say 2 is the tall tale.
  • kruuyai said on Nov 27, 2006....
Drat, MissMimi, you should have kept us in suspense longer.  I was just about to guess when you gave it away.  I would have guessed the one about the football coach, because that is not something that I would make up to impress anyone (not a football fan, obviously).

SW, I'm going to say that your number 1 is the fib, because probably all the possible erotic uses for empty coke bottles have already been invented.

LJ, not knowing anything about you yet, I'll take a stab in the dark and say that you don't even know how to ski.

    Now, here are my three:

    1) My first crush was on Mighty Mouse
    2) I waited until I was married
    3) I once rode a horse bareback and naked and have the photos to prove it
  • lioneljay said on Nov 27, 2006....
Mimi, I'm going to keep you and your readers in suspense for a little while longer. :D
  • MissMimi said on Nov 27, 2006....
LJ, why am I not surprised?  :D  Knowing you, they're probably all true!

kruuyai, welcome!  I'm terrible at maintaining suspense.  Here are three more, and I won't give the answer away.

    1.  Quilting is one of my hobbies.
    2.  I met Paul McCartney and have his autograph.
    3.  I once accidentally gave my husband a black eye.

  • Zayda said on Nov 27, 2006....
I'm going to guess that Silver's misdirection is the driving test.  And that LJ's is the skiing.

    Here are my three:

    1.  I am related to a newly elected U.S. Senator.
    2.  On of my graduate advisors was a member of Sha-Na-Na and played at Woodstock.
    3.  I hate pumpkin pie.
  • lioneljay said on Nov 27, 2006....
I'm not yet telling. But I think that Z really does dislike pumpkin pie.
  • Zayda said on Nov 27, 2006....
I'm keeping people in suspense a bit longer too.

Z, I'm guessing that 2 is the misdirection for you.
  • kruuyai said on Nov 27, 2006....
Zayda, your number 3 has to be a fib.  NOBODY hates pumpkin pie.
  • MissMimi said on Nov 27, 2006....
That was my first thought, kruuyai.  Pumpkin pie is one of the best parts of Thanksgiving.
  • Zayda said on Nov 27, 2006....
Kruuyai:  I'm going to guess that your number 1 is a fib.

When I was 11 I kissed Tommy James of Tommy James and the Shondells.

I have seen Bruce Springstein in concert 17 times

I dated a basketball player who was 6'10.

Ed:  I say it's the turkey....no turkey this year.
LJ:  I guess the TV one

kruuyai:  you waited til you were married
Mimi: I guess it's Paul McCartney...

SL I'm guessing that #3 is your fib.

And I'm still not revealing mine.  :)
  • lioneljay said on Nov 27, 2006....
SL, if you kissed Tommy James then you were probably a pre-teen at the time and he was a way-over-the-hill rocker. It's much easier for me to buy that you have seen Springsteen so many times.

  • secretlife said on Nov 27, 2006....

Actually, my cousin married the drummer from Tommy James' band....Pete Luscia (the marriage lasted 3 years).  At the wedding I got a kiss and an autograph from Tommy...at 11, anyone over 25 was considered over the hill anyway!

I dated a 6'10 basketball player (he was pro in Atlanta and then played internationally in Spain for 10 yrs) - I am 5'6.

I have seen Springstein, but only 4 times.

  • momsrock said on Nov 27, 2006....
Oh I was wrong SL. I was going to guess the basketball player also. I can't picture 'Goldie Hawn' with someone so tall. :)

Zayda: I don't really care for pumpkin pie so I can see how you might not like it. So I'm going to guess #1

    Ok...
    1. I have 10 'legal' grandparents not including my husbands side.
    2. I used to live in Alabama and no one could understand me when we moved North
    3. I don't believe in shaving my legs or under my arms

Zayda is a tough one for me... I'm not sure which one it is... but I'll guess #2.

Scaly: # 1. If you dressed up as a bong...I'm guessing you've dressed up as a woman and you date took place hiking so #2 kind of makes sense.

ginger, I pick number 2 for you. As for me, I do indeed make quilts. And once, my fist accidentally connected with B's cheekbone. If I ever get to meet sir Paul, I would likely die of excitement before I got to ask for his autograph. Want three more? 1. I was the valedictorian of my high school class. 2. I am distantly related to Jesse James, the infamous outlaw. 3. I broke my foot when I was fifteen, falling out of a ferris wheel car at Cedar Point.

    AHHHH!  Alright, I'll come clean:

    1.  I did see Dave Matthews shopping at Aldo the day of the concert in Boston

    2.  I did go to school with Scott Grimes from "ER", "Party of Five" "Band of Brothers" oh and the movie "Pete's Dragon".  He was 3 years older.  Came to my Sisters b-day party when we were little.  We were in the same school at the same time.

    3.  Close one kids...I've seen Dave Matthews in Massachusetts, Colorado, California, and Arizona!

I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen him in concert though!  I think I lost count 10 years ago!

I wish today was daycare day so I could keep up with everyone!  The child calls...

  • MissMimi said on Nov 28, 2006....
ginger, I have no idea what I meant.  This moves way too fast!  Do you wear thongs?

Scaly, I have something you wrote downloaded on my  hard drive that convinces me that you do like oral sex.  Your fib is number 3.

Is it too soon to tell?  I did break my foot at Cedar Point, and I am distantly related to Jesse James.  I was not the valedictorian.

    Three more:

    1.  My favorite thing to eat with chocolate cake is a dill pickle.
    2.  Brussels sprouts are my favorite vegetable.
    3.  We had a pet alligator when I was a kid.
  • lioneljay said on Nov 28, 2006....
GS, you were quite right, which I had already revealed before you guessed.

    Three more for you all:

    1) I have been published in a national woodworking magazine.
    2) I have shaken hands with someone who shook hands with a Civil War veteran.
    3) I once shook hands with Norm Abram of  "This Old House."
  • MissMimi said on Nov 28, 2006....
LJ, yours are too hard!  I can picture you doing all of them.  I will say number 1 is the misdirection.  Waiting patiently...
  • lioneljay said on Nov 28, 2006....
I can be patient, too, Mimi. You'll just have to wait a while until a few others have chimed in.
  • gingersoul said on Nov 28, 2006....

Ok, i am going to say mine: it was #2 because i wear always thongs....actually i dont have any other kind of underwear...

I did drive through 17 states. My ex and I started our trip in Texas. He had bought a sport car and we wanted to bring it with us in Italy. We went from TX to Florida, went back to Texas and from there went straight to Canada border. One of the best road trip ever! From there we went back to New York and sent our car with a military ship and took a military flight to Roma.

And i do have blue blood in my vein thorugh my mother side. Her family descends from the Marquese of Baldeschi, which family was connected to the Farnese family and owned at one point the island in the middle of  Bolsena Lake, one hour from Roma. And a beautiful villa with acres of vineyards and a vast cork plantation in Sardegna. I spent several summer vacations in that villa in Ischia di Castro. My grandma and my mother weren't be able to keep any of these possession and through the time we lost everything. The villa is now converted in a bed and breakfats and the cork plantation went to another wing of the family through my grandma's brother family.

LJ....i pick # 1......i guess you have been published but NOT in that kind of magazine...

MissMimi....i pick #1...i just cant imagine such combination of flavor as much as i adore chocolate with everything....

  • Zayda said on Nov 28, 2006....
My fib was #2.  My hair is not naturally blond. It's naturally very dark with a red tint to it.  It's not exactly auburn but not dark brown either.

I am related to Loretta Lynn through my dad's side of the family.

And I do collect antique creamers and sugar bowls.

I say that LJs fib is #2.

    MissMimi's is #3

    Scaly's is #3
  • gingersoul said on Nov 28, 2006....

Scaly.... lol.....but if you were Billl you will be generous with your friends.......RIGHT????

    Ok, another three from me:

    1) I won a chess competition at 15

    2) i went in tour with a professional theater company

    3) I interviewed a famous pop singer

    LJ...still waiting here....:-)

  • lioneljay said on Nov 28, 2006....
OK, time to fess up again. My fib this time was, indeed #2 but with a real twist. I have actually shaken hands with a person who shook hands with someone who shook hands with a Revolutionary War veteran!
  • MissMimi said on Nov 28, 2006....
Okay, Scaly guessed it right.  I hate brussels sprouts.  Chocolate and pickles is yummy good--something about the tangy and the sweet.  And we did have an alligator as a pet.  We got it when it was about 8-10 inches long, and it lived in a pink enamel baby bathtub.  We had to get rid of it after a few months though, so we gave it to the Cleveland Zoo.

ginger, I think number one is the fib.
  • lioneljay said on Nov 29, 2006....
GS, I agree: your most recent #1 is the fib. But which famous singer did you interview?
  • gingersoul said on Nov 29, 2006....

Mimi.....oh, darn it....i thought i could eat chocolate with almost everything...now i have to try it....lol...

LJ...so you really got published in that magazine? Uhmm,i was thinking something more soulsearching or on the opposite end, erotic...

Ok, i want to satisfy your devouring curiosity..lol..

I did win a chess competition at 15. I was really good. I have a medal to prove it.. ..i still play sometime...

I did tour with a theater company. Only for few months but we had our last rapresentation for 10 days in a small but nice theater in Roma...i even had my personal dressing room! And my name on the door....i loved it!

So my fib is #3 with a twist, like LJ...

i did interview this singer but i guess he is famous only in Italy. His name is Gianni Morandi. The great thing was that i grew up listening to his songs and always had a huge crush on him. So when i got this assignment i was really out of my skin....he was having a concert close to Roma that night... i was waiting for him backstage and i was a nervous wreck....my friend, the photographer, was making fun of me...but i couldn't  help it..i mean, how often you have the opportunity to meet your long time idol?

So finally he finished to sing and all sweaty (uhmmm) he approached us and shaked our hands....me and other 6 journalists had only half an hour to interview him in his trailer...i was sitting just close to him....i kept smiling all the time.....i kept turning my head to my friend and he was just cracking up...all my family knew about my crush...he appeared so many times in tv and anytime my mom or my sister would call me "Your bf is singing to you"....

  • Alyss said on Nov 29, 2006....
Okay a little time to play ... but my ability to fib is really poor...

    3) I am a huge fan of heavy metal.
  • dailyachesandpains said on Nov 29, 2006....

    Three more from me:

    #1-- I have 6 tattoos

#2-- I have 4 piercings (including my ears)

#3--I had my first cavity in 35 years when I went to the dentist last month
  • Alyss said on Nov 29, 2006....
LJ you certainly have had a colourful life...

    I'm going with #3.
  • gingersoul said on Nov 29, 2006....

    Daily....i was kidding......lol.....and then......why not? Btw..great choice......

Mimi...i go with #1....you love horror movie, i know it....and you strike me as a girl who might have a nice clean kitchen...

LJ...ok, this is even more difficult than the other one...but i think i am going with #1........

  • Alyss said on Nov 29, 2006....
    Zayda  #3 for you too.
  • Bronx said on Nov 29, 2006....
Hi, Missmimi, everyone. Joined the fray a bit late - I was losing count of whose fib was which, etc. Great stuff. Try and catch mine:

    1. I have cousins spread all over the world as citizens of countries on every continent.

    2. I was on the set of 'Conan The Barbarian".

    3. I have three siblings.

    Ciao.
  • Zayda said on Nov 29, 2006....
    Okay my guesses:

    Mimi #3

    LJ  #2

    Alyss #2
  • lioneljay said on Nov 29, 2006....
I do so enjoy misdirection. :D

The correct fib for me is # 3 in this case. The wifely one's brother was a high school classmate of the senator from New York but since he is five years older, the two women were never at the same school at the same time.
  • Alyss said on Nov 29, 2006....
My fib was #3 too. I really, really don't like heavy metal though I have sat through more than one HM gig.

    Okay, three more for you.

    1) My high school English teacher asked me to have sex with him.

    2) I went to school with David Beckham.

    3) I was once pulled from the crowd at a gig and watched the remainder from beside the keyboards while the other schmucks got chucked back into the pit.

  • MissMimi said on Nov 29, 2006....

    Z, I think number 1's the fib.

Bronx, this is just a wild guess but I think yours is also number 1.

    Alyss, number 2's the fib.

As for me, LJ is correct, and I will not be receiving any horror movies from him. :(  (Now if you'd like to send me your favorite erotic movie...)  I am a huge weenie when it comes to blood and gore in movies.

  • Bronx said on Nov 29, 2006....
    No full reply yet.
  • gingersoul said on Nov 29, 2006....

Bronx...i go for # 1...how big must be our family!....

Alyss...your fib is #2...then again it depends at what age.....

MissMimi ....i was so wrong about your horror movie....

Zayda..you fib is # 2..you have them but not so many...

    Now some more from me:

    1) i have been a professional disk jockey

    2) i was the lecturer at one conference about women's right

    3) i was at the private Xmas party hosted by the Admiral of the Sixt Fleeth

  • lioneljay said on Nov 29, 2006....
GS, I figure that your fib this time is #1, though there's something about your #2 that looks a little suspicious.

A few more from me, just for fun:

    1) I have never played golf in plaid pants.
    2) I once played golf at the course where Bobby Jones learned to play.
    3) My cousin once beat Tiger Woods in the U. S. Amateur golf tournament.
  • Zayda said on Nov 29, 2006....
Actually, my fib was #1 this time; I don't have 6 tattoos.  I have 3 and am considering one to two more.

I do have 4 piercings (my nose, and three in my left ear, and two in my right--now you may be asking why that doesn't add up to 6 piercings.  I was counting the two in each lower lobe as one--for the pair--)

And, yes, until last month, I had not had a cavity or a tooth filled in 35 years.
  • gingersoul said on Nov 29, 2006....

LJ.......your fib has to be #1........lol....

Since i have no idea who Bobby Jones is i dont even rry to guess and about #3..it can be possible...Woods must have started somewhere right?

About mine....#2 is suspicious eh? Mind to say why? :->

  • MissMimi said on Nov 29, 2006....

LJ, number 1 better be true, or I'll be forced to discontinue our friendship...Oh wait, you probably played golf in the 70's didn't you?  Nevermind.  I dearly hope you didn't golf in a Nehru jacket.

In that case, number 3 is your untruth.

ginger, number 3.  And if it's true, I want details!

    More from me after dinner.

  • lioneljay said on Nov 29, 2006....
This time around my #3 was the fib. Actually, my cousin came closer to beating Woods in the U. S. Amateur than almost anyone in the three years that he won the tournament, losing on the very last hole of the semi-finals in 1995.

It's completely true that I have never worn any plaid pants to play golf. I always wear tan chinos or simple shorts. GS, Bobby Jones was the greatest American golfer of the 1920s and early 1930s. Several years ago I played on the course in Atlanta where Jones learned the game. Sadly, his spirit did not help my game at all.
  • gingersoul said on Nov 29, 2006....

LJ....But Jones maybe helped your good taste...lol.....good to know you never wear plaid plants...you earned even more points in my personal counting...:-)

Mimi....for anything i say is true i am always ready to give details....IF #3 is true i will tell you when, who and how...and what we ate...:->

  • Zayda said on Nov 29, 2006....
LJ--Have you played on the Robert Trent Jones courses in Alabama?

And I knew you would never be found in a pair of plaid golf pants.  :)

    I say #2 is Ginger's fib.

  • MissMimi said on Nov 29, 2006....

    More from me:

    1.  I had an accident the first time I drove alone after I got my driver's license.

    2.  I did not go to my senior prom.

    3.  One of my quilts won first place in its category at the county fair.

  • gingersoul said on Nov 29, 2006....
MissMimi.....you said you quilt and i am sure you do it very good..so i can believe you did win first place...i am going to pick # 2
  • lioneljay said on Nov 29, 2006....
Z, I have never been to Alabama. I have played a few different Robert Trent Jones courses, though. My favorite is in Wisconsin just down the road from Taliesin where Frank Lloyd Wright had his studio.
  • Zayda said on Nov 29, 2006....
The courses in Bama are beautiful.  :)

    Here's 3 more for me:

    1)  I organized, chaired, and was the keynote speaker for a national conference of over 300 presenters.
    2)  My favorite color is green.
    3)  I am deathly afraid of heights.
  • MissMimi said on Nov 29, 2006....

I am surprised this has gotten as much interest as it has.  Pretty cool.

ginger, number 3 is the fib for me.  I've never entered one of my quilts in any kind of exhibit.  Maybe I should.

    Z, I think 2 is the fib.

  • Alyss said on Nov 30, 2006....
My fib was #2. I didn't go to school with David Beckham but a friend's sister did.

    More later.
  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....

I noticed nobody had a hard time believing that I smashed up the car the first time out. :D

Scaly, number 3's my fib.  I've never won any prizes for my quilting.

  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....
Scaly, your fib's number 1.  I think I remember hearing that you went to opening day.
  • gingersoul said on Nov 30, 2006....

Good Morning Soulcast!!!!! Its below freezing here in Texas....for a change i love it! Dont ask me tomorrow.

    Ok....Mimi......i got u right, girl.

    Scaly, your fib is #1

     Zayda......fib #1

    For me........round of trumpets...lol...

My fib was #1 with (again) a twist. I have been a disc jokey for one year but not in a professional radio. We were a political group (60 people) and we collected money to buy the radio equipment and rent a big loft to go on air. Nothing fancy but it was working. Our radio's name was Radio Active and i had the morning shift when i wasnt going to college class. My music was eclectic: mostly jazz, rock and classic. Loved it.

#2 is tue. I organized wth our WRM a week of awareness for supporting several endorsments concerning women issues. We gave interviews to radio, local tv and newspapers, organized an exhibit for 2 wesks about the female roles in tv shows, popular literature, soap operas in Italy from '50 to that present year. We went to school and had meetings with students. The last day we organized a conference at the City Hall at the presence of the mayor and several City Hall representatives with almost 500 partecipants. I was, with other 7 women, at the head table and i gave a speech about our organization and our goal and i introduced two women members of the Italian Parliament for the Green party and the so called Pink Party within the Communist Party who were campaigning for approving a law to allow a  wider presence of women in Parliament within each parties. I am very proud of this.

#3 is true as well. Mimi, since you asked details there it goes. My ex husband was at that time still in the Navy but stationed on land and working as personal driver of the Admiral of the Sixt Fleeth in Naples. The Navy rented for the admiral and his family a beautiful villa facing the bay. (Actually i had a very spicy detail  to tell you about the villa but this for later.....). At that ime i was 3 months pregnant and so barely noticeable. The wife of Admiral P. was a lovely lady. When they organized the annual private Xmas party they invited some friends and their closer collaborators. It was a very nice party, not more than 200 people. The house was beautifully decorated and the dinner exquisite. They hired some local catering but theid had a Navy cook working at the house year long. We were friend with him too so i sneaked in the kitchen to say hi. My ex came to me at one point and whispered "The Admiral told me you are simply gorgeous tonight". It must be the pregnancy glowing i said...When his wife knew i was pregnant she kept asking about me to my husband and then she did something really amazing: she organized a baby shower to a very nice restaurant later on with some friends of mine and two Italian wifes of my husband's coworkers. She gave me a silver baby spoon engraved with the Navy logo and a baby blanket she made herself.  So nice. They left for their new assignemt in Washington before the baby arrived and they gave a goodbye party during which my husband and other colleagues gave him a silk tie handmade by the oldest tiemaker of Naples. He got sincerely touched by the gift. He loved ties. There was a inner joke between him and them about who would have showed up each day with the most colored tie of all. My ex had a lot of winning rounds. And the year later we received a Xmas card from them. Great people. Great memories.

Sorry for this long explanations...memory lane slipped me away....

  • lioneljay said on Nov 30, 2006....
Scaly, I'm going with #1 as your fib here.

    Another round from Uncle Lionel:

    1) I was in the All-State chorus in high school.
    2) I was suspended from college for a drunken spree.
    3) I have an autographed Playmate-of-the-Month foldout.
  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....
Ginger, that is such a charming story!  Thank you for telling it.  But I hope you'll be spilling the spicy details too! ;)
  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....

Hmmm.  LJ, it's either 1, 2, or 3.  I just cannot imagine you going on a drunken spree, so I'll guess 2.

    Three more:

    1.  I am the second oldest of seven siblings.

    2.  I cut the last week of French class in tenth grade and never got caught.

    3.  I had a supporting role in the spring musical when I was a senior in high school.

  • gingersoul said on Nov 30, 2006....

    Thanks Mimi..oh, i will...:-)

Your new fib is #1...dont know why...maybe you are the third ones...:-)

LJ....ok, for you i am going to guess #3.......i can see you pretty wild in your youth .....and i can picture you in a choir at the same time......the autograph? i dont know....

  • lioneljay said on Nov 30, 2006....
Actually, this time GS is right and my fib was #3. Yes, I really did get picked for the All-State chorus as a senior in high school and yes, I really did get suspended from college for a time because of something stupid I did after having an extra beer or five.

As for the playmate's picture, I had an opportunity to get an autographed centerfold once at a trade show but the line was miles long and I didn't feel like waiting. She was much prettier in the picture, by the way. It's amazing what they can do with an air brush!
  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....
So you've been fooling us all along, LJ, and you really can sing?  Hmmm.  Anybody with a speaking voice like yours would have a good singing voice, I would think.  Hmmm.
  • lioneljay said on Nov 30, 2006....
I wish, Mimi. Something happened and what little singing voice I had nearly forty years ago has disappeared. In fact, I believe that a mutual friend of ours once posted elsewhere to confirm this.
  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....
I know why--if you think about sex too much, you lose your singing voice.  that's what happened to mine ;)

I don;t know any of you very well at all yet, so if I guessed, it would only be that, just guesses. But I have thoroughly enjoyed this thread and learning little things about the folks who posted here that I DO know. Can I join in? Might give you guys a little insight to me, if you're interested.

    1. I am related to James Garner.

    2. The Army once came to me and asked me to go to Westpoint.

    3. I love to snowboard.

  • Zayda said on Nov 30, 2006....
I did organize, chair, and give the keynote address for a national conference of over 300 presenters.  I was the first graduate student to ever be given the distinction of chairing this conference and delivering the keynote address at the luncheon.  Before that, only people who had already attained their Ph.D.s and who had been working in the field for a good 5-10 years were in charge of chairing the conference and delivering the keynote address.  Only one other graduate student has been given this distinction in the eight years since I did it.   There were over 2000 attendees at the conference, not including the 300 presenters.

My favorite color is green is indeed green.

So, my fib was #3. I am not afraid of heights at all.  My husband on the other hand is terribly afraid of them.
  • momsrock said on Nov 30, 2006....

    Windrider: # 3... you sound more like a skier! : )

SW: You are just taking the same Rx as me... lol

LJ: You are in good company! I got kicked off campus for being caught twice in the same night... guess I didn't learn the first time! :)

    Ok, three more for me...

    1. I am obsessed with candy canes and eat them all before Christmas even arrives.

    2. I have short spiky hair.

    3. All of my toes are the same length... like baby feet.

  • gingersoul said on Nov 30, 2006....

Wind....welcome to our game...i think your fib is #2....

Moms...wow...this is a difficult one...i can se you in spiky hair actually, i can see you ear all the candy before Xmas and i can believe you have baby feet..oh my....well, lets pick #2.....

SW...he is not thinking about sex? Are you kidding, moms? LOL

More about me so Wind can guess with you::

    1) I had "pleased" a man while we were riding a morotcycle

    2) I never took an acid in my life

    3) I have sold several of my drawnings as a street artist

  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....

On the last ones I posted, the fib was number 3.  I was very involved in the theater department in High school, but only backstage.

Wind, I'm going to guess 2's your fib.

Moms, I'll say 2 for you also.

ginger, I guess I'll pick 1 for you.  But if it's true, you are naughty!

    Three more for me:

    1.  I am deathly afraid to be in water over my head.

    2.  I only have one kidney.

    3.  I have only been drunk twice in my whole life.

  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....

Scaly, LOL on the choice of words: "...pulled that one off"... :D

I'm going to guess number 2 for you, but if it turns out to be true, I want to hear all about it. ;)

  • momsrock said on Nov 30, 2006....

lmao scaly! that's hilarious! As far as your fib...I'd say #2...I don't doubt you were asked...I doubt you said no! lol

    mimi: I'd say #1...

ginger: I'm going to say #2. I did once and it was a complete let down. I laughed for 8 hours straight and was so disappointed that I didn't see any mysterious penquins or monkeys or anything strange at all.

I am obsessed with candy canes and I hide them from my family as my secret treat. All of my toes are in fact the same length. My feet look like they belong to a little boy...not sexy at all. But, on the bright side, it only takes one swoop to paint my nails... So mine was # 2. I used to have short hair. But I have been letting it grow out for the last 3 years. It is just below my shoulders...blond curls...

  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....

moms, my feet are like that too.

Okay, for me, it is true that I've only been drunk twice in my whole life. Once when I was 18, and once when I was 20.  I wasn't even legal!  I am also terrified to be in deep water.  I think it's because I have trouble holding my breath for more than a few seconds.  The bathtub's about my limit. :-/  So, the fib is number 2.  I have the standard issue number of kidneys.

I'll have to think of more.

  • momsrock said on Nov 30, 2006....

If I hide them, every relative that visits will bring a box...can you imagine how many I have by the time Christmas arrives??

  • momsrock said on Nov 30, 2006....

  • gingersoul said on Nov 30, 2006....

Mimi......i was thinking for you fib is #2

Scaly..... i was going with # 2 actually....

Moms..i didnt picture blonde and curly long hair...meaowww...

i will give you my answer tomorrow.... :-)

  • MissMimi said on Nov 30, 2006....

    Ginger, you were correct!

    Three more:

    1.  When I was in college, I had a job where my boss was also my sister.

    2.  In high school, a friend and I snuck backstage at a John Denver concert.

    3.  At my high school graduation, as I received my diploma, I also received a standing ovation.

  • Zayda said on Nov 30, 2006....
Mimi--I'm going to guess that #1 is your fib.

    Here's three more for me:

#1 - The paster who married my husband and I got the date wrong on our marriage license/certificate by one day.

#2  - In graduate school, I was the Associate Director of a Writing Center and my husband's boss since he was tutor in the writing center.

#3 - I have been in all 50 states at least 3 times.
  • lioneljay said on Dec 01, 2006....
Mimi, I'm guessing that your fib is #1. I can definitely see the other two happening.

Z, I'm going to go with #3 for you this time. I'm willing to buy that you've been in all the states twice perhaps but maybe not 3 times.

I'll post a few more when I have had my next cup of coffee.
  • lioneljay said on Dec 01, 2006....
Okay, another round from the windy (and snowy) city.

    1) I wore gym shoes to work this morning.
    2) I'm sitting in my underwear as my jeans dry off from the heavy snow.
    3) I recruited a new member for Literotica last night.
  • MissMimi said on Dec 01, 2006....

    Z,  I think 3 is your fib.

Okay, for me...  It is embarrassingly true that I received a standing ovation at graduation.  And for three agonizing months I did indeed have a job where my sister was my boss.  Big mistake.  It took several years for our relationship to recover.  So, the fib is number 2.  We wanted to sneak backstage but we didn't.

  • MissMimi said on Dec 01, 2006....
It creates a fascinating mental image, but I'll say number two is the fib, LJ. It's too freaking cold this morning to sit in just underwear. I know this--I tried it.
  • gingersoul said on Dec 01, 2006....

Mimi.....this time i am going with #2.......you did snuck backstage but maybe not John Denver...

And for me my fib was #2......i did take an acid.....and moms, i agree with you...never again...it wasn' nice like yours....in my mind i was imagining wolves circling the car where we were and everybody around me didnt understand what i was warning them about.....blah...sweet mary is alot better..at least i used to laugh all the time...

So..i did please a man while we were on a motorcycle.....it was my husband, during one of the last rides together, 2 years ago..we were cruising on a solitary country road...i started to caress him and since he immediately appreciated i unzipped his jeans and started to worked him with my right hand holding tight grip to his waist with my left one....he slowed down to enjoy the double treat but he ketp riding even when he came....then we had to stop and cleaned the results because we were heading back to a moe crowded road....it has been great! i highly suggest it if you and your lady ride a bike...it gives an extra dimension to the word ..taking a high road...lol...

And #3 is true as well....i sold a lot of my drawings at Piazza Navona in Roma, notoriously full of tourists....my threesome group were drawning in the morning and sellling at night...we met a lot of nice people too....

  • lioneljay said on Dec 01, 2006....
Mimi, we have heat in my building and I can crank it up as high as I like so no, it's not too cold.
  • MissMimi said on Dec 01, 2006....
Ginger, that is, well, let's just say it got a bit warm in here for a minute.  Wow!
  • lioneljay said on Dec 01, 2006....
Scaly, this time around your fib is #3. I'm betting that you've been down to Rockingham (is that dogs or horses?) more than once.
  • MissMimi said on Dec 01, 2006....
I'm going to say that number 1 is the fib, Scaly.
  • Zayda said on Dec 01, 2006....
    I think Scaly's fib is #3.
  • gingersoul said on Dec 01, 2006....

Scaly...your acid trips were great....the snow in August .....and the expanding oyster crackers....lol......

yes, he actually came...i wasn't sure he would have made it to the end, to be honest...but he was riding at the minimun speed at that point and there was nobody in sight....you know that long flat road in Texas.....where you can see from Oklahoma to the Gulf?

And your fib is #1......there must be a twist here...:-) i hope you never bet on dog race ...i hate any animal race, sorry........

    Mimi.....i got you right again...:->

LJ...i am totally sure your fib is # 2...so you got snow today, LJ? Here is sunny again and the snow is already melting....

  • MissMimi said on Dec 01, 2006....

This is fun.  I'm glad you all seem to be enjoying it too.

    Three more:

    1.  I have to buy my shoes in the children's department.

    2.  I have never smoked marijuana.

    3.  I shook George Bush the Elder's hand when he made a campaign stop near my house.

  • lioneljay said on Dec 01, 2006....
Yes, we have snow here. It seems to have just begun to taper off and it looks like we have about eight to ten inches accumulated now. I can see my car from my office window and it's clearly going to take 15 minutes to clean it off well enough to drive.

My fib was, in fact, #2. I was contemplating taking off my jeans because they were soaked when I got here but I kept them on. I did wear gym shoes to work though, but they're unusual gym shoes. This pair is insulated high tops with a water-resistant coating and are intended for snowy weather. I got them many years ago from LL Bean and wear them only for snow shoveling. I meant to change into good shoes and overshoes this morning but forgot.
  • MissMimi said on Dec 01, 2006....

  • gingersoul said on Dec 01, 2006....

Scaly...you deserve big kiss for your behavior...i can forgive you since you said you dont have plans to do it again....

Mimi....i read somewhere you do buy your shoes there...so my bet is that your fib is #3.....

    LJ....lol....Xmas cards to rubbers...

    Some more for me:

    1) Once i lost my passport while i was taking a connecting flight.

    2) I have been stalked by a woman

    3) I never watched a male strippers show live

  • MissMimi said on Dec 01, 2006....
Ginger, The one and only time I saw a male stripper perform, toward the end of his >ahem< dance, he came over and hugged me.  He smelled really good, and I could still smell the scent of his aftershave on my sweater when I took it off.  I'lll tell you it was a long time before I washed that particular sweater. :D
  • Bronx said on Dec 01, 2006....
Ahem! I think I've lost track of the fibs and the truths, except mine?

    Mine are no fibs:

Ginger, I can actually blog at home from any continent!

Missmimi: ditto. My cousins may just be in your neighborhood. Ha, ha?

The fib for me is number 3.  He was here in 1992, and it was a big fat pain in the butt.  This place is only about a half mile from my house, and all the streets were closed for hours.

Another set from a bored and tired-from-shovelling Uncle Lionel:

    1)  In 1969 I could name every Playboy Playmate of the Month in the magazine's history and quote their measurements.

    2)  I once ran in the Boston Marathon.

    3)  I was the youngest Eagle Scout in my troop's history.

Well, Unc, I think your fib is number 1. No particular reason.

     Three more for me:

    1. I sprained my ankle a few years ago when B accidentally dumped me out of the wheelchair.

    2. My sisters and I all have first names that start with the same letter.

    3. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.

Yes, my fib this time was #3. I have been to 49 states at least three times (some of those 49 states I have been too far more than three times).  There is only one state that I have been to only once, and that is Hawaii.

U-LJ: I am guessing #2 is the fib.

MM: #3 is the fib: the fact that you mentioned it.

Mimi, some guys had baseball cards and knew Mickey Mantle's batting average. Who jerks off to Mickey Mantle? I would dearly love to run the Boston Marathon but it never has and never will happen.

Your fib, by the way, is #2.

Mimi...your fib is #2....... My fib was #3......i did watch a male stripper show as an assignment for my newspaper...i gladly obey! :-) The show was nothing special though.. but watching the othe girl going nuts ...that was a show in the show! lol... I have been stalked by a woman...she was pissed off at me because my ex wasn't leaving me for her...she threw eggs against my car, used to come underneath the house calling his name, she was looking at me nasty anytime we would cross our paths.....i wasnt scared of her at all....but more my ex would push her away more she would take revenge on me...too bad...he chose to stay with me and everything eventually stopped after few months... And yes i lost my passport at Philadelphia trying to catch a fly to Rome. PANIC! Someone found it on the floor and gave it to the desk agent of my departing flight.

Bronx, you guesed it right. I hate mornings, and have very little interest in eating until later in the day. My mother-in-law is scandalized by this. My sisters and I do have names that all start with the same letter. How my mother came up with 5 names that didn't suck is a mystery.
