I am a big fan of oldies. I never really liked that word "oldie". To me, it is a word that means a song that outlived its usefulness. I do not really believe that. One of my main career goals is to try to educate the public on why older songs need to be respected as the current songs of today. I also am a fan of classic radio. What that means is radio clips from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. As music lovers, we must try to embrace the music that each of us has grown up with. We should not be ashamed of what we listened to in the past. Thanks to great inventions like the Walkman, the CD player, and Mp3s, the music that was a part of our lives then will never die.

It's funny that we call them oldies, because they are new compared to Bach and Beethoven. I not just interested in songs from the recent past, I'm interested in the legacy of music since the dawn of time. I'm just as likely to be humming a tune from the Renaissance as I am to be humming a tune from the White Album. Even currently, one of the Black Eyed Peas hits is based on the old Greek tune Miserlu. It's easier to build on a catchy melody from the past than to make a new song, and it is done all the time. Look at Simon and Gar. Scarbourough Faire...based on a old song indeed. -

me too likes "oldies" i grew up with the music of bryan adams,bon jovi,even beatles.hehehe.& mybe that's a big influence on what music i am into now.
I believe that those songs are also an influence of the songs today & you're right we should not be ashamed.
