The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2006 will be coming up on the first Sunday of December.  I've always wanted to run a marathon but never got down to doing it.  I was a runner during my school days and the longest distance I've ran was 21km, as in half marathon.

I keep telling myself I must run and complete a marathon before I get too old for it.  How old is too old for a person to run a marathon?  I've heard or read in newspaper report of senior citizen over 70 years old completing the marathon.

Have you ever run in or completed a marathon before?  How was the feeling like, before, during and after the run?

i used to run cross country (3 miles/5 km) in high school.  i wasn't good at it, but hey, what the heck...i think i've heard that about senior citizens finishing marathons, too.  i think that completing a marathon requires training, though.

Tinkerman:  Do you still run now?  Don't try to do this year's run unless you've been running all along.  But what you can do is use the start date of the marathon as the start date for you to begin training for next year.
I've heard of senior citizens finishing as well, but only after training.

SW & SL thanks for your advice.  I've not been running on a regular basis and I'll not partcipate in a marathon without adequate trainings and preparations.  Without proper training for the full distance, I'll be struggling (huffing & puffing) throughout rather than enjoying myself and feeling 'on top of the world', once I cross the finishing line.
