As more and more illegal aliens enter the country, the face of America is rapidly changing and Americans are paying the price. In my state, you can no longer renew your driver's license by mail. Now, you are required to bring papers in person to the motor vehicle department that trace you back to birth, including marriage and divorce papers, etc., plus additional confirmation of identity. I went there 3 times and still haven't been successful, even though I've had my license for many years and was born in state. The number of Hispanics, alone, that are now legal in this country due to amnesty programs of the past, or by using stolen identities and having anchor babies is growing at a tremendous rate. They are using their voting power to elect other Hispanics into office who will influence policy making for all of us. I believe in strong border security and enforcement of our current immigration laws. I have no problem with those who follow the rules and enter this country legally, the way it was intended. Now, our government is pushing for yet another amnesty for those who are already here which will encourage others to come realizing that they too will most likely eventually become legal if they wait long enough. When will this stop? Perhaps, when the official language is Spanish. Undocumented aliens in this country can bring disease and crime. It causes over population and takes jobs away from Americans. Think you're paying too much for gas and groceries now, then wait and see what happens when you can no longer find a place to live because of outrageous rents or lack of availability. I believe people should stand up for their country and if there are problems try to fix them, not just flee to another country and try to take over it.

I have to agree....it is more than time to say "NO" to amnesty.  I am not by any means against imigration, however, I think that people should do it just like most of our ancestors done years ago and that is through the appropriate legal process.  I by no means am in favor of Amnesty as I think this sends a message accross the world that anyone came come into our country and do as they please with absolutely no legal ramifications.

I think it is time to round up all the "Illegals"  and send them back to home.  Here is another thing that I must say truly irritates me beyond no end and that is people waving flags of other countries in my face.  The way I see it, if you ar so proud of the country of whose flag you wave,  GO BACK AND STAY THERE!  This is America, if you want to come and be a part of our country, then support it!  You can begin by knowing, reading and speaking the language of our land!

Sorry folks simple logistics makes anything but Amnesty impossible.  We don't have a choice, the problem got too big to fast.  What we need to isn't that complicated though.
    1. Harsh sentencing for anybody hiring illegals.
    2. Some kind of fine for anybody renting to illegals (can't be too harsh cus honestly they have no way of knowing.
    3.  Lock down the borders and make sure nobody new gets into the country illegally.
    4. Amend the constitution so that at least one parent must be a legal resident of the US for a child to considered a citizen.
    5. Deport some of them
    6. Grant amnesty.

Hitler was willing to do a lot of things that we aren't.  He managed 6 million Jews.  We have an estimated 10 million illegals in this country.  What do you think our chances are of finding and deporting them all?  Hell ANY method we use of gathering them is going to be viewed as racist.  Besides there are just too many of them.

NO NO NO to amnesty. Harsh punishment for hiring illegals, border control AND aggressive deportation. Plus, nobody who came to the country illegally or overstayed visa will get citizenship/green card unless they go back. If they marry a US citizen, that marriage should be thoroughly investigated. Also a lot of people get immediate visa or under certain rules without adequate background check, that needs to be looked into as well.
People say if you don't allow illegals the price of a head of lettuce will skyrocket. Really? 50 years ago what was the price of lettuce? Or chicken? The fact is, illegal immigrantship is bringing back a kind of neo-slavery in this country. Seen the program "Dirty Jobs?" Americans are doing them. Americans are ready to do anything as long as there is fairness.

First off, ALIENs do not exist so how can we, ah, they be legal. I think you mean immigrants. Second, I am pretty sure Sean is right. We (liberals, conservatives, Democrats, and Republicans) have all let this problem go too far. We keep spouting crap about this country being built by immigrants, which is true, but most followed some kind of orderly process to get here. Face it, we are being invaded by another country and we have our thumbs up our butts watching them come in and take over our schools, eat up our taxes, and generally bring down the system. I love hispanic people and I do not blame them. I blame our dipstick leaders who no longer have the balls to face a problem like this head on. I plan to learn as much Spanish as I can so I can get along in the New Amerexico.

I said nothing about the price of it lettuce skyrocketing, though you telling me how something worked years ago is kind of stupid.  How bout we stop using machines to build cars.  I mean years ago. . .

Amnesty is the only answer, it just shouldnt' be given until we can stop the problem from recuring.  Slavery is kinda required for an economy to work btw.

Sean: my answer was not specifically to your comment but to the original post. So I wasn't "telling you" anything but expressing my views.
My point wsa, paying Americans fair wage doesn't make things ultraexpensive. And in that context  a precedenet is legitimate.
I'm not sure what you mean slavery is kinda required-socialist countrie would have worked really well then where every worker was in a sense a slave laborer for the state. In fact, it is the hope of getting ahead is what keeps many of us doing boring jobs day after day.

If i were american, i'd definitely say no too :/

    Cheers!

@Ast: I'm sorry if I treated your question as something that was directed at me.  Yeah it is the hope of getting a head but somebody has to be on the bottom.  Statiscally speaking those who start on the bottom will end at the bottom.  Society cannot function without farmers, garbagemen etc etc etc.  Nobody wants to be a grunt, but they are required, possibly more so than the upper teir doctors, rocket scientest etc.

They have always existed and will always exist.  There will always be a bottom of the totem pole and it will likely always be so low that if it isn't a slave it may as well be.
