I noticed this morning that TheSource is my 200th viewer.   It's Friday, and I like to
have some fun on Fridays....so here's what we're going to do to celebrate my 200th:

I would like to 'collect' 200 acts of Kindness/Caring.
It's sooooo close to Thanksgiving in the USA, that I think collectively, we can accomplish this.

What you do doesn't have to be anything big.  It simply has to be an act of kindness.
You can choose a family member, friend, or stranger to be the receiver....

And all i ask is that you comment with your kindness.

Edit:  Ok, so it's only Thursday and SL is clueless again!!!

First, I almost lost it when I thought it was Friday and my Daughter should have been in day care that we pay for!  Thanks, SL, lol!

SL, I am going to wait for the real Friday to happen for my random act of kindness, don't want to spoil Friday fun ;-) .  I hardly leave my house so this could be difficult...maybe let my daughter have a piece of candy? No, nope, can't do that, has nothing to do with anything.  I refuse to ask my MIL and SIL if they 'need anything'.  Then again, that may kill them on the spot if I did...humm...got me thinking...
    ;-) kidding of course!

I think I'll have to donate to a charity, since I can do that on the phone...
I'm open to any suggestions, as long as it doesn't have to do with me leaving my 'safety' zone, my house.

I DID IT!!!  I hope you count this, SL ;-)

My UPS guy came, as usual (every single night he comes) and he noticed the garage door was open.  Smart guy also noticed that what I had ordered my Daughter for Christmas was clearly noticable and she would know.  He came, rang my bell, and let me know that he didn't want to ruin her Christmas and put the massive Princess box in the garage.

HOW NICE.  Not the first time he's done this, but the second straight night (Husband left the door open when leaving for work, 2 days now)!  SO, I thought of your challenge.  I decided to call UPS and give kudos.  I wanted to let them know how wonderful, kind, sweet and considerate my driver was.  The lady started filling out a 'complaint' form because she didn't have a 'compliment' form!  She said, 'Ma'am, this way your driver will get the praise he deserves, his supervisor will get this textd to him as well as your driver and a permanent compliment will go in his file.  This will be appreciated by him when his review comes around, I'm sure he will love this text message.'

    So, does that count?

    HAPPY REAL FRIDAY!!!  WOOOHOOO!
I've got another one!  I hope this counts!

My MIL shocked us all again with a call from left field, she never calls.  I was NICE to her.  I spent more than three minutes on the phone with her.  I was actually on the phone about 10 minutes with her.  I asked her how her boyfriend was doing even!  When I hung up, I didn't say 'Bitch' under my breath like I normally would after one of these rare phone calls.

Star, Thanksgiving is a holiday in the US that always takes place on the third Thursday in November.  It commemorates the Pilgrims surviving the first year in the America.  It's a day to give thanks for one's blessings and gather with friends and fammily for an elaborate meal.  I like it best of all because of the warm feelings of counting your blessings, and it's a lot less stressful than Christmas.
  • secretlife said on Nov 17, 2006....

    SL,

Can we count what the nice man did for me outside of LNT?

I went there with my Daughter tonight.  Something just made me want to leave the house (I think it's been about 3 weeks since I last left, lost count).  Anyway, he saw me struggle to get her out of the carriage and my back, of course, started to spasm and he swooped up behind me and grabbed me as I was starting to fall with my Daughter coming with me.  VERY scary for me, for my Daughter and for this NICE man and his son!  He helped me up and asked his son to grab my bags and the boy put them in my trunk for me.  Not only did he do that, but he took the cart back to LNT for me.

I had this post in my mind and saying to myself 'I wonder if SL will allow this non-soul caster to get credit...'  SO, will ya?

    Thanks!

So I smiled and said "follow me, I'll show you the way". We all hoped in our cars and I led them right to the door of the place they were trying to find.

Huge waves and the kinds of grins only humans can make when being good.... And then we parted ways...

It made me feel good to see those smiles from complete strangers.

Then I found out this week was random act of kindness week and smiled because I did something without even knowing it was a "special" week. hehe Maybe I am good after all.

A 23 year old friend of mine just recently moved back home to take care of his younger brothers (ages 19, 18, 14, 9, 5 and 3) after his very irresponsible mother opted to move in with her new boyfriend over the welfare of her children.  He is also a father himself.  I hope to be able to love that much one day.

Daily--If I hadn't gone to the store straight from work and had on almost 3-inch heels, I don't think I would have been able to reach the yogurt myself.  I mean, I'm a little above average height at 5'7" but even with the heels on it was a stretch because the lower shelf/bin sticks out a good half a foot further than the ones above it.  I think I came close to  showing a bit too much leg and ripping my stockings.  But it was worth it to hear her exclaim to her friend "I can't believe some stranger was nice enough to do that for me!"

i almost forgot to record the following acts below because of the holidays!!! :

    192) worked/working on my hubby´s website, although i would rather write a blog with substance...

    193) kept my silence while hubby stewed and ranted for the umpteenth time over his despicable situation in his despised job - i just listened...

    194) kept my silence while aunt´s told me yet again to stop my meds and do this and that - you know the unsolicited advices, which use to drive me mad that i could pound my head on the wall (sheesh-  i survived half a year in an arab country under terrible conditions, isn´t that proof enough that i am an adult...

    195) called all of nick´s relatives over the holidays...we gave up our landline number to be able to live in peace and discourage unwanted calls from relatives, who i surmised were bored and made it a hobby to meddle in newlywed´s life (we had three mobile phones, and as expected they didn´t use it as much because of the cost of the call being too dear)

    196) i´ve made a mental promise to take care of my 70 year-old English girlfriend in the future, whom i met in the teacher seminar...she has a son but i know in old age, an extra hand, and a good friend is always welcome

    197) let go of all animosity towards my (i hope!) ex-boss

    198) let go of all animosity towards aunt 1 for threatening to sue me 2 christmas ago because of an intrigue...she never apologized directly but showed through her actions that she was sorry (one example she gave me a brandnew laptop ~wry grin~)

    199) let go of all animosity towards aunt 2 for starting the intrigue that sent me in deep depression for almost a year(she is also the aunt, who always knows best)....like aunt 1 never directly apologized but i noticed the changes in her - she is now mellow, praises me constantly (!), unthinkable a decade ago...yeah, i call her daily because she is lonesome, no social life only her business and her possesive husband...

    200) let go of all animosity  towards my grandma motherside for making my mom´s life living hell, and influencing my future plans more than a decade ago to live a life abroad (finally! the end)

THANKS SECRET for qualifying forgiving as a great act of kindness...it is a kindness to myself actually because by forgiving I feel lighter, and happier...

That was weird?  I left a comment for Silver and Secret prior to windows xp comment but it got lost?

I´m anal so here was the lost comment....or at least the gist

Ed:  LOL re: browser settings  ....pleaaaase don´t get me started!  I need to reinstall all my programs due to the virus nick got from surfing the adult site!  drats, that will show me to have second thoughts before I be generous and understandstand wife again!!

I have been putting it off  - restoring the system, I´ve always despised the chore.  I truly miss my Mac - thank heavens though for the new laptop working on Windows XP.  I cannot even face my own blog where fellow SoulCasters, made comments of how I could get rid of the popouts and interminable warning that my privacy is in danger of being breached.  I am a procrastinator, remember SL?

Secret: Thanks for the cookie hon; I should also thank you for the initiative you started, for it motivated me to do the deed, that I have done.

Looking forward to more of such.

Guten Rutsch im neuen Jahr!  (literally good slide in the new year; it is the traditional way German´s say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!)

I brought a raspberry tart to my ailing pirate flatmate the other day, but I'll have to admit that my random act of kindness was not entirely selfless, so I'll commit to taking advantage of an opportunity to do some kind and selfless act as soon as I can.  And I'll up the ante by challenging everyone who originally posted a kind act here to go ahead and do another one.  It's been a while!  :)

I called my dad today.  That may not seem like a big deal but that is the kindest thing I've done in a long time.
